If you have Android 10, this app will not work due to a permissions glitch. It hasn't been updated since 2018. I'm quite unimpressed, partially because of the glitch, but mostly because of the implication that I have to give the app permission for the phone. I may not want to do so for privacy reasons, but then the app won't work at all. If it worked in the first place.
What on earth does it do? £1200 for a Pioneer Avic but this seems to add nothing in terms of usability. It connects via Bluetooth but there is nothing you can do via the app to have any affect on the head unit. The unit itself is overpriced rubbish! My last Pioneet.
Apparently, this app won't work with newer Android OS. It keeps asking for permission to a phone although it already has all of the permissions. If you decline, it says that it needs access to your phone. If you accept, it takes you to your permissions where all the permissions are allowed. Thisapp is in serious need of an update.
Liked it at first for the live traffic. Made two purchases to renew the connected services and update maps and when I try to download them it tells me unexpected error 101. So they got my money and I didn't get what I paid for. Developers will not contact me back for a refund and google is no help. Do not waste you time with this app
Yep did not connect to my Pioneer unit even after i just been playing music from phone through Bluetooth, i tried plugging phone in via usb and still not connecting. Just a waste of time, i think in the end the Pioneer Head Unit was far to Advanced and that is why you cant connect 1 with the other.
Beware purchasing services. You get charged but don't receive them. Panasonic just ignores you if you request a refund and technical support just results in more charges for the services that are not provided. Other than that it is nice to enter destinations on your phone which can be transferred to your AVIC head unit in your vehicle.
I have multiple appointments each day. I load the destinations on the phone app. When I get to the car the app sync up with the on board Avicsync. Great program. Works fine.
Please update the app so that people with a newer Android can actually use it. I set it all up and then it just keeps asking to allow access to my phone. When I press that it just takes me to my settings and all permissions are allowed. This app is useless for my phone so I can not enjoy my Pioneer NEX
This used to work with my S8 but after attempting an update, the update failed and the App fails to start. I used to use this App in conjuction with my Pioneer system in my car. Am I able to restore this App to a previous version?
I FOUND THE FIX. I'm so angry that Pioneer didn't make this main stream but I finally made it work and it's actually pretty simple. First, go to Pioneers website, select whatever radio you have, and download it's firmware update. Second, unzip the downloaded firmware update and put it on an SD card or, like I did, on a flash drive and plug that in. Third, go to settings-system-system information-firmware update. Do the system firmware update then do the same steps but under the Bluetooth tab for the Bluetooth. Firmware should now be 1.08 and Bluetooth should be HW01-SW03.41.13 FORTH: Connect your phone according to the instructions, associate your phone and DOWNLOAD THE MAPS ONTO YOUR PHONE. I got it working this way and i hope you guys can too.
Cant even use this app with my phone, cant get past the allow phone access screen. I have read its caused by a missing file in the download but they need to patch this app. Until then its just Wasted space.
POINTLESS APP THAT REFUSES TO WORK ON MY PIONEER AVIC F980DAB CARE STEREO SYSTEM. My pioneer AVIC-F980DAB car stereo system keeps saying my associated phone is not available and fails to sync my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone to my Pioneer AVIC-F980DAB car stereo system reading further down on another post it looks like you have to download firmware updates from your laptop to a USB stick or thumb drive then transfer the new updated firmware from the Pioneer website what a pain in the backside.
You can not get support! They charge you and updates and upgrades dont work or won't install. Weeks and no response from support. Buyer beware! Pioneer no help, Naviextras no help, AVIC no help. Check first you will see help has no direct contact and app help fails to connect.
On Galaxy S9 with Android 10 the app doesn't work. Every time when I start the app wants me to give it permission to have access to the phone. I accept and after that.... nothing.
Required to use with car stereo unit. Not sure exactly what function it provides. Updates pending but errors and will not update.
Bad! Looks like it's been trying and failing to update for the last 7 months downloading the same 45Mb every day. Not anymore as I am disabling it
Won't even open... Why do companies require use of apps for more features? My Pioneer radio requires this app if I want more features and this app is trash... Guess when I update my radio I'm buying a different brand, such an idiotic business practice, great way to lose customers.
Does not work with newer phones. Tried updating does not work. App needs to be updated for newer imei Last review was in June. It's December, still garbage. Nothing works properly
App doesn't work with my Pioneer car stereo. It doesn't connect with my android phone, although it says it's connected or synced.
This app does not work. Pure and simple. It needs to be removed from the app store. Moreover, do not waste your time on buying one of their AVIC decks! Huge waste of money!!!
Worked until update android 10. Now stuck on permissions!!! Would give 0 star but couldn't. Will put better rating when u fix it. Update. So the update that's come out 30th July. Won't update !!!! Do you not check before releasing.
Useless does not work on a modern phone. Waste of money this Pioneer head unit. It doesn't do anything it claimed. My phone has never been able to connect. Save your money.
Can i give it NO STARS? Literally can't do anything with it!!! Asks for access and then stops working. I am about to drop pioneer all together because they cannot get their stuff straight with the latest Androids.
App can not read IMEI number on android 10. App works fine on android 9. The July 27, 2020 update corrected the IMEI issue and the app now works. But you need to uninstall the older version and install the 27 July version.

I just tried to purchase a months traffic subscription on the Avicsync app. This was not provided despite payment being made. I got a 101 error instead. Please refund my purchase
I paid over a grand for my stereo, and I've tried to get this app to work twice now. It keeps telling me my phone isn't associated with the stereo, even tho I'm connected via Bluetooth and USB. All I really wanted was to utilize the online traffic information feature so I could receive traffic alerts. But I'm really disappointed that such a popular brand name couldn't accomplish a simple, compatible app.
