Relaxing Breathing (4-7-8)

Have trouble falling asleep? Try this 4-7-8 technique. Inhale for 4 through your nose, hold for 7, exhale for 8 out of your mouth.

Equal Breathing (4-4)

A pranayama practice called Sama Vritti, this breath can help take your mind off the racing thoughts or whatever might be distracting you. Inhale for 4, exhale for 4. All through your nose. (Try a 6 or 8 count, once you feel comfortable.)

Measured Breathing (4-1-7)

A handy stress-reducing practice that can be done anywhere, anytime. Inhale for 4, hold for 1, exhale for 7. All through your nose.

Triangle Breathing (4-4-4)

Another great technique that can help alleviate anxiety or stress. Imagine a triangle with equal sides. Inhale for 4, exhale for 4, pause for 4. Repeat.

I looked at lots of breathwork aps and this one is perfect for me. Simple and easy to use, with different breathing techniques, that are customizable for sounds (I wanted an app with a voice) and duration among other options. Ad free too! Well done to the developers.

Edit: all issues addressed, awesome job! 5/5. Good app, simple to use. Some feature requests: #1: Please improve the interface for increasing/decreasing the time for each section. I should be able to hold the + or - to change the time quickly instead of tapping once for every 0.1 second change. #2: Please make it possible to remove one of the breathing sections. I do not want to hold my breath after inhale or exhale, but there is no way to delete those sections

My first impression was very good with a 3 minute session, but it continued after the session timer expired AND there was no Stop button. I had to go to Settings - Apps - Breathing - Force Stop.

Simple but just what I was looking for! I wanted an app that would visualize (and speak) to guide breathing for my daughter to help her go to sleep without being distracting. I love that you can customize the time duration, use a dark display if you choose, and pick the level of verbal cues. Well executed!

Love this app! I can customize or use an existing option. It is simple and easy to use with none of the distracting and overwhelming bells and whistles the other apps have. It also works offline and is free of ads and distractions. It's perfect for me and has helped my health dramatically. I highly recommend!

Wow! Truly an awesome app. I can customize inhale, hold, exhale, hold to 10th of sec. App calculates breaths per minute. I can set total time for a session. Audio cues mean I can breathe with my eyes closed. All of these can be saved to my own custom sessions. The added bonus is the ability to set notifications during the day to remind myself it's time to do a session. Great app!

Love this for practicing deep breathing. I can set my own pace and use the visual to follow perfectly. If I was to offer any improvements, it's that the settings button is dark (presumably for less power drain, but it almost looks greyed out), and the breath visual might be improved by an inner reference circle so you know when the end of the exhale is coming up. But it's easy to use and works perfectly. Thanks for this app 👍

I was looking for an app to remind me to pause and mindfully breathe for a minute or two throughout my day (I know I could use my phone's alarms for that, but historically, I find them real easy to dismiss and forget about for hours). Not only does this 100% free app do so, but it also has a pretty decent, very customizable, breathing pacer with a handful of common breathing patterns available to use (or modify). I've been using it for the last few days and find myself liking it a lot.

Such a good app! No ads and the settings are fully adjustable. I have anxiety and find deep breathing exercises make me more anxious. I read the CART breathing method helps more for anxiety, so I looked for an app for CART breathing but couldn't find anything, so this was the next best option. The circle graphic is quite mesmerising and helps to focus on that instead of what I'm worried about. My settings are 2 - 1 - 3.5 - 1.5. This app has made a huge difference in my ability to calm myself

So far the best breathing app I've tried! As a therapist I'm always looking for simple apps that I can recommend to my clients and this is it! The only thing I wish it had is a way to save the custom patterns. I do a lot of breathing exercises and have to change it everytime is cumbersome. Also I'd like to be able to preprogram some into my clients phones. That would make it 5 stars.

Perfect for paced breathing, options to be guided by sound and/or visually. You can change the settings to whatever you want at the time, I love this app and I use it every night to help calm my breathing and parasympathetic system and I fall asleep beautifully. It's simple and easy to use when you need guided breathing fast, for treating anxiety and panic. You can set reminders for daily breathing exercises. Love the simplicity, super user friendly!

Edit:Some difficulty with custom programs cutting out. Any word on a fix? Excellent app, simple to use. As a psychotherapist I am using it myself and recommending to clients who might benefit. Two things might improve the experience though. 1) the ability to save custom rhythms would be awesome 2)push notification reminders that users could set up would also be great. Currently I keep a screenshot on my lockscreen to remind me to take 3 minutes. Only these 2 things are keeping it from 5 stars.

Not a bad app, similar to an older one I couldn't get on the newer device. Pros Can turn off the bells and whistles to have a solid breathing app. Cons Not enough color options, weirdly enough this does make a difference when ur staring at a circle trying to chill out. Result Would have rated 5 if could change the colour settings to my preferences. Not enough colour options. A colour wheel with a wide variety for the circle or even better for the different parts of the breathing cycle.

This is a great app for it lets you customized your own breathing program of inhales and exhales in decimal second increments. It also has a timer for how many minutes you want to do the breathing. I really wish they had a better choice for the beginning and end sound beside that loud gong noise for it is distracting after being relaxed from the meditative breathing. That is why the 4 rating.

So far for me this is the best app but it must need to fix the option for the scream that stays on and I find this dangerous since the phone might get hot and explode on you and also I notice that it drains your battery!!! It give you the the opportunity to add the time you want to spend on each breathing and also it have many other occasions. Thank keep the great job!

This is a really fantastic breathing app. It is intuitive to use, has a range of common preprogrammed exercise but it is also extremely easy to create and customise your own. An added bonus is the lack of intrusive ads. If there is a better free breathing app I would be really surprised.

An excellent app. Specifically because the custom timer allows for tenth of a second adjustments which allows me to set 5.5 second breaths for optimum resonant breathing sessions. I would give 5 stars were I able to set my own colours on the visualiser and change the jarring bell sound to something more muted and soft. This is an app I will use every day.

Okay this is the best app EVER!!! You need to download it! I've tried many breathing apps and most you have to pay for and are confusing but this is free and simple. I love how you can choose and customise breathing lengths and even the colour of the circle that you breath to - I also love how there are no ads. It really helps and I 100% reccomend!

More complete and customisable breathing app I've found so far! Love it! Edit: changed from 5 stars to 3 because the audio cues don't work when screen is shut off. Soo its the best app I've found but only if the screen is on 😒 2nd edit: three stars to 2 in hopes you guys will read the critical reveiw and fix this issue.

The only thing this pacer lacks imo is subtle sounds for in- and exhaling so i could do it with closed eyes. the background sound provided doesn't seem to be affected by the rhythm i set and is not really pleasant to my ears. still a great little app, free and no ads.

Custom pattern cant bring holds to zero. Editing the times in custom doesn't actually affect the actual pacer when running. Really surprised at how poorly the app it works given other reviews and the iPad version works fine. Maybe just my device, but support button in app just goes to product website.

Absolutely perfect and it is free. I kean really free. Not even an advert. Does everything I need for a breathing app. Has programs. Voice. Visual indicator. Can make custom programs. Set length of session. Couldn't ask for more. Already a favourite.
