I have 7 Axis cameras around my house. They have the newest firmware and with the latest Companion version work great with this app. I can quickly view live streams on all 7 cameras and also view triggered motion detected events with no issues. I have a fast cable ISP at home and the Samsung S8 is on the 4G LTE network. The negative reviews must be from limited bandwidth at one or both ends.
02/21/22: Are the Companion Classic servers down? Dropping 1 star because since Jan. 1st my two M- 1054 will no longer log into Synology V. server via Companion. They work great directly to Synology. 04/02/22: Yesterday everything fine; today "can't connect to any cameras". Sitting in my car and one moment they work, 10 minutes later they don't. Companion on PC the same. Soo Frustrating! Had more problems in the last three months than last 8 years. Planned Obsolescence???
Used to work, then after an update a while ago, won't connect to my camera set anymore. Uninstalling/reinstalling/cache etc brought no fix. Companion still works great from computers. Tired of trying. Seems dumb to have deprecated their older perfectly good cameras- even 4k cameras- by separating the app versions as well. What a pain.
Issues with intercom usage: - If people in the office have the app open on PC it often won't ring to my phone. - Sometimes when I pull my phone out of pocket it will cancel the call. - Requires fingerprint to open door. Sometimes it fails to read and I end up getting locked out and important people may not get access. Should be a feature to disable this. - Sometimes a long delay with audio and other audio issues or audio outright doesn't work.
Absolute nightmare to setup the mobile app to work with camera. Spent more than 10 hours and still could not set it up. web browser access works fine. Does not look like a mobile app for a $800 camera.
It is impossible to arrange the camera order on the multi-cam view. This prevents the user from taking advantage of cameras that provide a contiguous view; especially for customers with multi-sensor pano cameras (e.g. Q3708). This is an issue on both the Android app as well as the Android TV app.
Works Great. It works better on Android that it does on the iOS or PC app. On Android the Call comes through immediately showing the caller video and door RTE without having to unlock the screen and the sound is good and reliable, unlike iOS and PC app.
Hopeless app, sometimes works but mostly does not. Have tried with multiple devices. My router works well in general and the desktop program has no issues connecting but this app on android phones is garbage.
Unable to add my Chromecast with Google TV. Directions don't match, but found my way to the Chromecast button in the (phone version) app, select Chromecast, then a screen comes up and no devices are listed.
Good and works well, although slow interface, but unclear how it's doing/updating dynamic dns. For viewing live video I use tinyCam Pro, but for watching recorded video this is the only way to view it remotely on the phone.
A terrible waste of time. I can access the installed camera using a browser, but this app states that there are no cameras on the network - and as there is no manual install, using the known IP address, I eventually gave up after about an hour.
Audio cuts out after about 10 seconds of playing footage... but if you download a clip, all audio is present. This has been a bug for a long long time.
I have a oneplus 5T android 10 running, my problem with this app is that somebody rings the doorbell (axis A8105-E) when my phone the screensaver/lock is on, i will not get any notification. When I unlock it, I immediately get a notification. I have test it on my older phone, a oneplus one, this phone runs on android 6.0.1 and has this problem not at all. If somebody can look at this in the axis team it would be nice.
Almost impossible to add new sites and cameras, a real nightmare and the online documentation is messy and inaccurate. No way to manage a pool of cameras located on different sites or networks, poorly written software, no realistic user vision approach...
Normally the app is great but lately I have not been able to view my cameras because it cannot contact the Axis servers....please fix this.
My Axis companion no longer works remotely on my phone, only on the network. This is terrible. When on site, I can view the security. It is needed when away from the site.
they changed the way the app rings its annoying now not easy at all you have to hit open app the hit the green button and then door unlock one extra button is to much please change it back to the old way.
Most of the Camera features cannot be controlled by this oem app. In fact you can control Axis Camera more in Tinycam app. like voice clips and many more features.
slow it will work but you have to go thorough a process to maybe get it 1x if not do it again about every 5 min. just to load if it works. windows works lots better it only takes about a min to load and start. EDITED Now it don't work at all
App is good for home use. I use Axis cameras at work so I got some for home. It would be nice to be able to cast the app with Chromecast to my TV.
Awful! Terrible product! I was able to log on and view cameras only 4x. Now I can't get in at all. It said no cameras. We just installed this system in September 2019 and it doesn't work.
Very, very slow. To the point it's useless. A $75 camera from Amazon is probably net superior to this piece of cr@p.
keeps saying can't connect to myaxis and is using sites stored on my device. the problem is that I updated my site and I can access the updated cameras on the desktop app....
everytime someone rings the doorbell this app rings once and crashes before i can respond in time to whoever is at the door. pathetic waste of a $1000 product that i now have to look into replacing
It found my 4 cameras, shows them as locked. I removed passwords but it still won't add them. They're grayed out.
Honestly no push alerts for motion?? Really , Axis you are so close to a great app but this lack of a feature kills it
Has trouble connecting to one of my cameras. The issue is the software not the camera since the same camera has no problems with the Windows and iOS versions of the Axis Companion software. Even worse, after the Android companion software fails in its attempt to connect, the camera needs to be rebooted. Stay away from this app till they debug it. In the meantime the iOS client seems far more stable.
