The app itself is easy to navigate and well thought out very logical and responsive. However Axis communications marketing media make it out like you can use the app to set up the whole site, that is not correct you have to use a Windows based PC with Axis companion V.3 or V.4 depending on what firmware is on the cameras or recorder you wish to add to create the site then open the android app and you'll see everything appears as it should.
This app used to work great. Then it was broken in an update. Apparently the backbone was updated to use a chrome interface and it ruined the app. First it would constantly sign me out of the app. Then the last update made it so the videos wouldn't load if I clicked on a notification. The last version of this application that worked was 5.16.1. I managed to find an APK and sideload. The old version still works great.
Never works correctly. Slow to answer, sometimes audio connection doesn't work. Will not notify my phone as a call waiting anymore when I'm on the phone so I miss the doorbell all the time...don't bother trying to use your android with this device. AND...for the amount of money I paid and it doesn't even come with any ability to store video without buying their expensive "special" sd card...garbage!
May 2021 update - Now app no longer even opens in Chromebook. Keep getting Chrome need to be installed...LOL Original Review - Get a "Video stream can't be played. The resolution may be too high. Try setting a lower resolution in the desktop app." error on Chromebook. It will not display my M3116-LVE cameras. But will display my other cameras fine. App works fine on phone just not Chromebook. Please update!
Not enough features, very very minimal compared to other options out there. Plus most of the software seems to be discontinued so better off looking for long term solutions elsewhere.
The Axis Companion 4 App it is not letting us login / sign in when using our Android mobile devices, Samsung S20 and others. We are getting the message "Something went wrong please try again" every time we retry to login. However, when using the same login credentials with Axis Companion 4 on a Windows computer we can sign in without problem and we can also sign in when using the same login credentials with Axis Companion Classic on the same Android mobile devices.
Frustrating migration from Companion Classic Forcing restore on cameras with no option to opt out.
The site does not work. It gives an 503 error. I cannot access my camera system. I
I sign in but the app just brings me back to the sign in window. Doesn't work
Works good for viewing and playback. Events tab is completely useless as you cannot customize to inputs motion zones or set which devices it is active on. Needs work.
Axis Companion refuses and fails to run because it complains that the phone has NO browser. The Axis app is too stupid to recognize any of the 4 installed browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Bing !
It keeps asking for a company site name. I put home in and its not working. Every thing was fine with campaniaing classic i downloaded the update and all my cameras went off line. Unable to fine them now.
This app is a step backwards. It is not as friendly as the classic app, migration is terrible and its not backswsrds compatible for older cameras.
Sometimes needs to be closed and restarted, but it is serving its purpose of being simple. Seems to be working fine with my door station after one test call.
Works well. Very User friendly. Easy to use. Easy to get working. I use it with Axis harware. I'm amazed. I did not need IT knowledge to set it up.
Total none starter will not run on chromebook {play store}. Considering the price of their gear you would have throught they would have made the effort.
Works great on Android but not at all on Chrome OS based devices such as Chromebooks, Chromeboxes or Chromecasts.
Solid and continually improving! Great feature set for most users.
This has now been fixed --- The app crashed when using Bitwarden password manager autofill service on OnePlus 6 running Android 9.
AXIS Companion products are incredible and this software works great on my phone!!!
Cant "set" ptz preset positions, but allows you move between them... Frustrating.

Stupid app. Ask to press the + sign on Devices tab to add new device. WHERE IS THE + SIGN????? Next time test before release. Waste of time.
After upgrade of the phone app I can no longer connect to my cameras.
Can't change the notification sound.
Not able to recieve door station calls.
Says invalid device credentials when trying to locate a device.
Completely disfunctional, an embarassement for Axis! Very slow to load video from door stations - always says "answered on another device" when doorbell button is pushed, but I don't have ANY other devices with this app installed. Can't get android mic to doorbell speaker to work on the first try (after button push notification) rather I have to close the app, then open again, then it works. When you pay $100's more for Axis, you expect it work better than Ring. Dissapointed!
