B4UFLY

The B4UFLY app provides model aircraft users with situational awareness and considers the user’s current or planned location in relation to operational restrictions to derive a specific status indicator. The color and shape coded status indicators inform the user if model aircraft operation is prohibited, requires the user to take certain actions, or if there are no FAA operating restrictions other than flying safely. All model aircraft operations must always yield the right-of-way to manned aircraft.
Key features include:
- Heads-Up Status View for quick “at-a-glance” review of current status
- Map Interface to plot nearby flight restrictions
- Planner Mode
- an advanced user feature to “plan” for different flight locations and times
- More Info
- helpful links for using the B4UFLY app and additional FAA resources

Great App, but it can't be a sole resource. It does NOT include wilderness area! That is a very easy feature to add, since there are shapefiles available, but for some reason they aren't in here? If they were in here, it would easily be 5 stars. Wilderness areas are crucial to know, especially here in the PNW where we are surrounded by them, but alas, I have to use a separate app for that.

I have been flying drones since they first came out. I did beta testing for 3DR & DJI when both began building drones. This app has been very useful as I have used it traveling all over the USA flying my drones. In the beginning you would just fly. Now it is nice having an app informing you if its safe to. Doesn't take much to get permission to fly if needed.

Great app, but needs work. The only thing I can think of that needs added, Is notifications. Getting live notifications via push, of aircraft approaching your airspace, would be excellent. A few times I've had a flyby low altitude plane and an unmarked helicopter pass through quickly. Audible noise prompted an emergency landing, but prior notice would really make a huge difference. I use a few different apps, but nothing offers push notifications regarding air traffic, only weather changes.

Useful, but a lot of simple but critical information is missing. For example, it utterly surprises me that wilderness areas, which are no fly zones, are not in this app. It's not like designated wilderness areas suddenly pop up or disappear, which would make it difficult to chart. Made even worse because I don't recall mention of wilderness areas in the TRUST training and see no mention of it on the FAA part 107 site, but they require you to check this app before you fly which doesn't have it.

This app is incredibly helpful. Im new to drones and was reviewing the sectional maps of my area and started to get worried because of how difficult and tedious they are to read. I was feeling discourag3d because of how little space there is, at first glance, to fly. This app both makes it very simple to see if you can legally fly in your current (or any) airspace, and it turns out i was wrong, there is plenty of room to fly! The app also has several different ways to view the map which is great

Horrible app. It constantly states psst"Your pin is out of view" I know Captain Obvious. This app is designed to be used in real time, not for planning. I want to use the app to plan where I can fly, so I don't go there and get told that I can't; that's a waste of time, money, gas population, etc. Also the Map is very basic, there is no detail. Google Maps has better detail than this. They should partner up with Google Maps, that would be way more efficient. Needs improvements NOW!

The new version is SO much better than the old version. In fact, they're really just completely different apps. However, I have to take off a star because it has some annoying things, like the pop up telling you your pin is out of view. Also, it doesn't support LAANC, so you can't get airspace authorization from this app. You have to use Airmap or Kittyhawk to do that. So, in most cases I will still use Airmap or Kittyhawk, but this is finally a good alternative.

Was watching a 51 drones video and he mentioned this app and how much it had been improved since being over from the FAA. I was one of the many who uninstalled it when the FAA had it. Looking over it it has been greatly improved but I don't see any different between this and the main Kitty Hawk app. Unless I am missing something I don't see the point of having both. So to me pick one you can't go wrong either way.

Maybe if it didn't freeze, lock, and lag 100% of the time using it. This should be THE definitive app for people flying drones so we know where and when we can fly. I have been relying on DJI to recognise no fly zones, but that doesn't seem like a good way to go. It's pretty simple, you don't want US to break any laws, YOU need to make this app work as it should. Update: thank you kittyhawk for the update. This was way overdue. Cood to see someone compitent finally designed the app.

Extremely useful for quick observation of TFRs and other flight restrictions before and during a flight.

App downloaded and installed but crashed 3 times before it would open fully, then crashed 3 more times while trying to read text that seemed to overlap? Froze and crashed when I tried to move map. Froze and crashed when I tried to scroll down page. Crashed for no reason so I finally gave up and uninstalled. Not sure if I am required to have this app but not reinstalling because it seems to want more info than it provides, such as pictures and contacts on my phone.

Keeps crashing second after launching the app

Sorry for you guys that aren't able to use the app. °It is Awesome! Looking for meanings and specifics tap the layers to the right in the map scroll down itll give explanations & restrictions. Looking for places to shoot while out and about I just pop my app open and mash the skies with the Mavic Air 2 🕳 Some places your able to fly next to an air field from my understanding, but why would you want to? SAFETY FIRST RITE? Its perfect for my needs! Thanks A lot!!

This app is a complete waste of time and money. I seriously hope someone found it a Cracker Jack box rather than spending money on it. You really need to think long and hard about claiming you support this quickly developed and ultra-lite on effort app. The app assume you are at the flying site and that is a bad assumption. The app needs to be more geared to preflight planning ie night before flying. The app needs the ability to send email notification prior to arriving at the flying site to

Contrary to other reviews, the app works, but the information it shows is incorrect. The heliports it shows are non existent and are not even shown on the sectional charts! also this app wants permission to access my phones photos, media, and files... permission denied! im uninstalling this app and sticking with AirMap

Not good - airport information off Multiple "Good to go" messages when I was within 5 miles of an airport. Have gotten this message when within 5 miles of TWO airports. An area yesterday indicated that I needed clearance for an airport that was 10 miles away, completely ignoring the one that was less than a mile. This app is dangerous and should be banned.

Its a must have for anyone who flies a drone. But it has one BIG fault (or I couldnt figure out how do do it and im an ubernerd so if its there it needs to be easier to figure out) you should be able click on the warning and it shows the zone the warning is about. Right now it shows the warnings in text and the areas in the map but you dont know which text warning corresponds to which map graphic.

Really useful app for visualizing airspace but there is a very annoying "reminder" that pops up every time you move the map beyond where your current map pin is. Useful the first time you use the app, not so much when you're just exploring an area.
