Meredith Hamilton has a deep respect for literature, its indirect and symbolic content, as well as the surface narrative. She is able to use visual material, pace, animation and voice to bring alive a multi-dimensional reading experience.
Baba Yaga is another gem from the BumpBump Books. This dark tale is brought to life with beautiful illustrations. I love the girl's escape from her treacherous aunt while a picture of Baba Yaga's massive gnashing teeth chase her across a river. Not to spoil the end, but it's always good to know your Mom's background. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!
