For years I played a competing backgammon game and liked it. Then they changed their bearoff algorithm and quickly it won most of the time. Backgammon NJ costs money, but it includes a rock solid AI, hints, different levels and is highly configurable. I recommend this game wholeheartedly!
Completely fixed and it's so obvious. The app dev will say it's not fixed and they have proofs but all that proves is it's 100% fixed and favour is shown to computer players. This is proven by how many more doubles and doubles in a row CPU players get compared to human player. Several users have said exactly same so it's not random at all. Sorry I wasted my money and would recommend you avoid this sham of an app, it's no better than any other backgammon app except for a decent interface.
6 rolls into the game 4 Doubles for AI... Fair and Random, Don't you think !!!!🖕🖕 Okay, Game -2.. 5 of the first 7 rolls for the A-I Doubles Fair and Random again 🤪😂😂 "Constant Multiple Doubles" when needed !!! Fair and Random!!! LMFAO 😂😆 How can you look in the mirror??!! Unbelievable...
Great game, plays well I wish it had help on the doubling dice . I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the game fun playing at different levels
EDITED: Great app. The downside is the very annoying "Error - Google Play is unable to verify your license for this application. Please make sure that your device is connected to the internet, check that data is enabled, and run the application again" message. It occurs if I am offline (on a plane), and will not go away until I have connected to the net. I am not sure if it is a Goggle Play thing or the app itself, but this is the only app I have which give this error. If someone is able to give a soulution it is a five star rating.
For Android there are less options than for i phone. There is no possibility to play with other people and less possibility to edit the graphic of the board. The engine is complitely unrealistic, if you put the highest level he hit you 100% of the times, and if you are winning, he double 5 times in a row. In real life thats not a topic. They should erase these issues.
The hard setting only gives the computer an unfair advantage of knocking off open pieces 90% of the time, rolling doubles or the exact needed roll for the computer when most advantageous. Results in a frustrating experience most of the time that has nothing to do with skill. Have Uninstaller.
It's a streamlined backgammon app with a solid export and analysis feature. There are no ads or annoying bells and whistles. The AI obviously doesn't cheat, you can set the random seed and or play in analysis mode etc etc. The other commenters are idiots l. I wish Jimmy would work to bring back online play (I know Google took down their API...) and I think the analysis mode could be better, with a ranked list of move options explaining the impact on both win and gammon percentages.
I love this game! Miss an option to replay the exact dice rolls again in a new game to see what different move choices would lead to.
Truly the best Backgammon app on Android. Full featured with almost everything I want and more. If you're into analysis, the extra $3 is worth it to go back through a match, jump to mistakes with the option to play it differently from a certain point in the match. Fantastic!
I have had this game forever. Sorry to hear the online component was dropped. I appreciate the analysis section. It's just fun and no advertising distractions.
Great android backgammon experience. If you want to practice against a very strong AI and get feedback on the best move versus you own decision in term of equity lost it works great. Definitely throw in the extra 4 quid to analyse your previous games though. Very flexible depending on what kind of experience you are looking for. E.g one tap v 2tap checker moves, Checker tutor has a customisable threshold to alert for inaccuracies up to blunders.
I have owned this app for years. It has become ridiculous. The algorithms are so amateurish- just not fun.
Been using this app for years and it's brilliant. Just recently installed the analytics upgrade and it's now even better - exactly what I've been looking for. Just one request - please provide a shortcut to "last game" analysis rather than having to go through the whole match every time.
Good for learning. I want to be able to set the dice seed and then switch sides to see how the computer would have gone with my dice rolls. It would also be good to have the AI play itself given a dice seed. Also add a mode where both sides play the same dice roll.
I previously reviewed this as a big improvement on others I've tried. As I have started using it more, I've realised that doesn't go nearly far enough: I find it difficult to imagine a better. I'm learning from it; I understand the game better now than I have in perhaps 50 years of playing it - badly, as I now realise. The range of options is first class and the playing quality is exceptionally good, even at the "Medium" level I'm playing at.
This app is impressive. Great statistics and toggleable options. Highly addictive is this cruelest of games.
Best backgammon app. I've used this since I got my first Book Color. Straightforward and no gimmicks.
The game play is excellent. The lack of interfering ads is amazing. However, do not let the fact that you can prove that the dice do not roll to favor the computer fool you. If you play the computer, it sees the rolls in advance and then chooses who will go first based on what rolls favor who it wants to win. It can be very frustrating seeing the computer get exactly the rolls that it needs.
First things first. It's easy to use and it plays well. It looks good and I like the statistics page. One star down as it's not cheap. Now - does it cheat? Well, in my very first game, i had two checkers left on 6 and 4, and it had two left on 4 and 2. It was the app's move. For me to win, the app had to roll a 1 or 3/2 and then I had to roll 6/4, 6/5 or 6/6 So the chances of me winning were less than 5%. It rolled 4/1. I rolled 6/4. If it cheats, it's not very good at it!
After having this app for number of years came to realise that it's nothing like real life game and that's because the dice you get is quite unrealistic... Terribly annoying, the CPU will pull amazing stunts in the most difficult scenarios and most probably will win. I found the fairness changes quite a bit if you use a manual dice, and it's not in the favour of the app.
there is no doubt that the game cheats. Even if the statistics shows "normal" numbers is definitively not the same when you a double six and take 4 pieces out or if you a double 6 when you're trying to get out of the bar at the beginning of the game. And thats what this game does combines throws and timing and gives the AI the throw it needs when it needs and gives you the same throw when it destroys your game, all of this happens while maintaing "normal" numbers so it appears "fair", IS RUBBISH
Probably one of the better games out there but as one commenter said if you actually roll real dice you may find slightly more success against the computer on expert mode. While a computer does not "cheat" there are certain situations with the doubling cube where knowing the rolls ahead of time can give you a huge advantage. That being said there should be more board customization options available.
best game I've found. I'm an eloquent 1500 player and find the game difficult to beat at hard level. I like that the CPU doesn't automatically rule giving g me a chance to second think my move. it makes crazy good good rolling blocks. I often fi d myself with 3 stones on the bar. it also makes match-strategic doubles.
Cheats! Makes it's moves, the dice land on spots it blocked or force you to split pieces opening to a hit, over and over again, way too much to be true, so it knows rolls ahead much of the time. No matter how well you play or move it almost always gets rolls to hit you, almost never misses, too much to be true. Switch to manual rolls it loses it's ability to know rolls and all above cheats end. All experienced backgammon players agree it cheats, saying "the game is honest" is total B.S.!
I'm disappointed because this app is rather expensive and it doesn't appear to have many features. It looks like it was designed in 1997 and i find the options menu confusing and unhelpful. I paid an additional $3 for analysis but the analysis mode doesn't seem to actual offer much. I was told you could play online multiplayer on this app but i don't see that option. Overall it's just an expensive boring letdown.
