Excellent app, 5 stars well worth it. Have been using for 4 years now and it's just so good. The only thing that could make it better would be when it is matching the system settings for dark mode, it is black not grey dark mode. I really don't like the grey but that's what it is automatically when you choose to match the system. But that doesn't take away from the 5 stars that this app deserves.

Best Reddit app, hands down. I never liked Reddit. A friend said I never viewed it properly and told me to get Baconreader. I tried the free version for about a month and then paid for the Premium upgrade because I love it. And, that was almost 8 years ago. Thanks so much to OneLouder for not invalidating my old purchase in new updates, like some awful apps have done to me.

The best Reddit app. You will need to fiddle with the setting to make it how you want it, but it offers a variety of interface layouts and options that no other Reddit app does.

Can we get it so posts and comments show the date instead of "x amount of time ago"? There's plenty of times where I'm trying to research something and the specific date would be really vital to know. Seeing a comment that says "1 decade ago" is useless for determining almost anything. And did something break support with this app in ChromeOS? For well over a year now, links in chrome will not launch this app by default, even though all permissions are set to allow for it that I know of.

I know the UI is dated by today's standards. But this app works flawlessly and I've been using for at least 6 years. It's wonderful. Fast and snappy and always my go to apps for Reddit The only downside. The moderators tool are highly limited but this isn't the concerns for 98% of the users

Great job with the recent update, if we could save a subreddit without having to be logged in.. that would be a awesome feature, like have a logged out list of subreddits we could create as a list that could be saved as a list in bacon reader..

I love Reddit and this client beats the pants off most other clients, including the official one. If you are going to spend as much time on Reddit as most people do (me included) then don't be a cheapskate. Buy the Pro version for a few dollars. No ads, no BS. Do it. You'll be glad you did.

Minimal, good experience. Only few nitpick: there should be an easier way to scroll through list of subreddit, flair icon won't appear properly in subreddit.

I've been using Baconreader for years now, and absolutely love it. I recommend it to all of my reddit-using friends. The only feature I'd like to see added, that I haven't seen in other apps either, is an option to hide/disable comments. Perhaps a feature that would simply hide the "view comments" option, and would only allow the link/post/image to be opened. It's a niche feature for sure, but could be nice, as an additional "filter" type option.

great app. I would give 5 stars however there is a frequent and very irritating problem that I have encountered. When switching apps - keeping baconreader open in the back; the feed resets back all the way to the top causing me to lose my place. This also happens when clicking on links to other subs or trying to comment within the app. originally reviewed at 3 stars, now at 1 because of how frequent and annoying this is. looking for a new browser :/

More and more features over time don't work and new features don't get implemented. Vreddit videos don't load. Cannot respond to mod messages. Downloads get stuck and you have to force close the app for saving things. There's many times where baton reader won't load at all but other reddit apps will.

Baconreader is amazing. For redditing, its design is better even than material. I've been using it for years. I have tried many others, but always come back. The one request I have is theme support. I would love to see Dracula colors offered or full custom theme support. Still a perfect 5/7.

Worked OK for a while. For last month it won't load on Pixel 6. Tried to reinstall, clear catch but all I get is a loading screen. Can't use anymore. The only apps that have been reliable are none. Just use your browser.

Pixel 5. It's worth the premium to remove ads. Efficient layout with intuitive controls.

Have been on Baconreader for over 5 years.. in that time, reddit video links worked maybe 20% of the time. GIFs have a hard time loading, videos don't play, awards were literally only just added. I'm a little disappointed as this was my favorite reddit app. But having to constantly open links in Chrome because the app isn't doing its main function is awful. Just updated today and the notes said that v.reddit links are fixed... but they are not fixed. Guess it's time to look for something new.

New Samsung update requires action. Great app, missing lots of features the official has. Edit. Today at&t rolled out 12. 11 wasn't available by conventional means... I've updated and applied fix. This works, after using the official app I've noticed things like avatars, coins and so much more I can't use. It's nice to have bacon reader working again but never realized what I missed

Would be good if we could customise the zoom percentage when an image is double tapped.

This app was awesome until the most recent update. Now if I page out of the app and page back it puts me back at the top of the home page where I've already read everything while I was reading the middle of thread. It's the most frustrating thing and makes the app useless unless it's literally the only thing you're doing on your phone.

I've been using the bacon reader app for about 3 years now, and it is by far my favorite Reddit app. The layout is clean and simple, and it's resembles browser Reddit than any other app in my experience. with every update, there's features that are added and issues that are fixed. the app just keeps getting better. the only "criticism" I can give you is this: consider changing the colors of the bars on child comments. the first color is too similar to the dark blue theme. i have a galaxy note9.

love the ui and information density. good for reading. having stuttering issues when scrolling after thr last update though, going past the 3rd or 4th top level comment will make the scrolling animation stutter and lag, was not an issue before last update. still reomend this app vs any other, but thats a bit annoying.

Geo. W. May 6, 2019

it's been a great app, but a few months ago the app was changed to prevent the acreen from sleeping. unknowing of this, I continued using the app how I normally would, trusting the screen to turn off as normal. Now my Galaxy S8+ has screen burn-in in the shape of the top status bar and the Baconreader UI. Not happy.

Mor. M. Jun 16, 2021

Works great, except whenever you open a link or minimise the app. When you come back (even after 2 seconds) it reloads the main page and you have to scroll all the way back to where you were. Over time this becomes an incredibly frustrating experience.

Sac. D. Jan 22, 2021

Been using Baconreader for years, it's intuitive and easy to use. Occasionally an update will break a feature, but the issues are always fixed within a few days. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a Reddit app.

Kri. A. Jul 15, 2021

Does not work, says "no peer certificate". They claim it is related to my wifi, but other reddit reading apps have no problem. I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, but this failed to resolve the problem. My phone is 9 years old, so I presume this is the problem. It still works fine with 95% of apps though!

Simply one of the best Reddit apps available. I upgraded to this Premium version many years ago, and bought it again after closing my G Suite account and thus losing all my purchased apps (thanks Google, precisely one of the reasons why I'm ridding myself of you where possible!). I love the super clean look, and the very pleasant colour schemes. I just wish Reddit wouldn't intercept Reddit links and force me to either download their awful app or use my browser.

The app that inspired the rest, [1] with a wealth of tools to optimize user experience, [2] with regular and meaningful updates, and [3] with a tablet version that one-ups it's original mobile configuration! If I had to choose just one app to recommend from the many that I have used, then this would be The One... Mmmm, BACON!

Jon. B. Sep 13, 2020

I have had this app since I my account in reddit 3 or 4 years now. The app is functional and great to use and sort through threads. If you ever want to leave the app to go to an external browser just click the link chain in the post and it will send you. Devs constantly work and upgrade the app. Premium is worth every penny IMO but the free version is very functional.
