A good go problems app. I think there is a bug in the leader board, points look divided by 10. In my opinion the app is a bit large, it takes 105MB on my phone, without user data and cache. Based on the authorization it should prevent the phone to sleep, but seems not working. My phone sleeps in less than a minute and the screen dims during the problem solving period. Keep up the good work!

It's helping me learn some beginner strategies. My biggest compliant is that after doing about an hour of the tutorial puzzles, I still cannot beat the easy level ai opponent after about 10 matches...like not even close. I dunno if I am just not understanding the game but it's feeling like an unfair challenge that I'll never get past, and I have to wait another day to practice against ai again. I also wish the app could tell me where I'm messing up, because I have no idea.

Hilariously bad, 0 stars if I could. One of the worst go apps... Forces you to solve puzzles to up your rank, and tickets are behind a pay wall. I'm 5d - it's going to me forever to climb up from the 16k they assign you at the start unless you pay. So multiplayer is useless. To top it off, half the puzzles mark my correct answers as wrong. There is more than 1 way to solve many problems, but you have to solve it "their way".

Very good app for learning and playing against similarly skilled players online. Would like to see features like a free play board you could use to practice making and defending shapes or to explain the game to a friend etc, but what's there is very good.

Really well done. The lessons are great, entertaining and informative. I appreciate the thought put into the UI, especially when trying out a new lesson. however some more in depth discussion or pointing to where one could find that info in each lesson would make this app a choice start app.

Well presented game to learn go, but I'm confused. The first lesson says very clearly that you can't put a piece down when there are no available adjacent spots. The second lesson then says you win when the spots you need to place your pieces have to adjacent available spots. I get that that's fine if you capture the opponent's pieces oon the first move, but in these examples it takes two such moves. Needs to be better explained.

Good app. Hate it when you search for a game and it matches you up against a AI. Should have a function where you can leave if you get matched up with an AI . I just want a casual game with a human

Found this app at just the right time as I'm teaching my kid to play Go today. Excellent beginner walkthrough, interactive tsumego, and free AI support for full 19x19 make it the best app I've encountered for Go (free or otherwise).

I miss the opportunity to ask my opponent for a rematch. Also I wish a there would be an update for the analysis tool. It might be a good idea if, after a game has ended, this tool could show you what move was good or what move is a better alternative. Like this analysis tool they have in the lichess app.

Very cool app. I've been wanting to learn Go for years and finally took the leap. I would give 5 stars if the app could be used offline.

I don't need to see a special "you lost" screen after I resign and read that "Victor won by resignation". I know that I lost. Is the purpose of that screen to annoy players? Also, impossibility to revert the last few moves is really unfriendly for beginners when playing with bots. Inability to revert makes learning much more frustrating.

Amazing app. It offers many ways of learning. I admit I felt lost in the first games, I wasn't winning against level 1 AI and I didn't even know exactly why I was losing. Then I searched for "Scoring" lesson. Just then I started to understand better the game and it felt really fun when I started winning my first games. So, I just recommend to put that lesson earlier. Besides that, everything is awesome: graphics, lessons, puzzles. Recommended!

Best free one I've found. I wish you could replay moves midgame to get a better look at the mistakes, but you can review them when the game is over. It helps if you understand the basic rules, otherwise you'd be a bit confused. The App could do a better job with hints and such for beginners, but overall it's a good free app to play Go against the computer or Online.

1. Other players games available for watching are too little. 2. The messages are limited. 3. Other features are fine so I gave it neutral rating. I love the options in making a move though, gives me more time to think about it. I'm not a fan of slowpaced games but I can't say I don't like having enough time to think 'bout the moves.

Great app, the only problem I have is how much is withheld behind the subscription that could be free like being able to learn what the correct answer to puzzles are or a basic explanation to help someone learn better

Jes. C. Jan 19, 2021

Definitely great to get you started... I just think it's such a complicated game that there needs to be a beginner mode with AI walking you through a game, explaining it along the way. Overall I think they do a great job explaining moves and things... I just think it needs to be done during a game to truly understand them. I also only have the free version so maybe it's in the paid.

Great app! Super smooth and I've been learning a lot with the lessons and puzzles. AI and match making are great! My only issue is the price to get access to some lessons and to analyze puzzles, it's way to high and there's no cheap option to get the content or support the developers. When I'm more invested in the game it will be worth it, but not right now.

Really good app if you pay for premium, not a lot of long term value otherwise. Especially if you're a beginner. You're forced into a time limit that doesn't give you much time to think about moves and have to pay to increase the time. You're also unable to play against an AI more than a few times per day unless you pay, again the exact opposite of what beginners need.

Ita. G. B. Nov 7, 2021

It's very good. Paying for the premium. But there's two features that'd make it great. Being able to finish a game with AI when it wants to resign would be great because I'm learning and need to see positions to the end to understand how it translates to territory. Also, allowing a user to continue to play through a puzzle after solve. I'd like to see why I was correct and as a noob it's hard to do without playing a bit further. Thanks for your consideration

The new UI is NOT an improvement! The first screen (lessons/problems) is a useless extra click for 99.9% of the users. The "play again" screen is just as useless: playing the same level again still takes one click, but switching levels takes THREE now. I like to switch levels a lot; start low, go up a level when I have perfect score, go down a level when I make a mistake. That doesn't go very smoothly now. Nice collection of problems.

The tsumego part of the app is great. It does a good job of selecting the correct level of problems. The playing part has many problems though. Playing 9x9 with 2 stones doesn't make much sense. A player doesn't have to be very strong to be invincible with 2 stones. You should use reverse komi instead. Also, using fisher time with a small increment is much better than byoyomi. Frustrated players can't make you wait for 20 periods of 30 seconds.

a nice training and practice app. scaled AI for playing. you can also play with random people or friends. you can play free with tickets that you get over time but you can max have three at a time. the paid version has unlimited play but it is a subscription and it is WAY too expensive (closer to 100 dollars a year). the developers would make way more money in the US if it was a one time $5 cost.

Good go game. Wish there was a larger player base for faster match making. Player base skill level is high (imo but im not good). This would be really awesome for a new player because of the puzzles and little learning modules. The AIs are different, fun and can be challenging too. The menu interface isn't great. There are micro transactions but you can still play for free without any handicap. It all seems good and fair so far

Very good, the business model is alright, there are no ads, that's great. I have no problem using this app for casual practice on the phone. If someone's looking for serious go practice they should use a book instead (realistically speaking, there's no app as good as a book for serious tsumego practice). Add an option to tap twice to place a stone, instead of tapping once, sometimes I misclick. Then it would be a five star app!

Cat. A. Jun 4, 2021

Great way to learn the game, it explains concepts with easy to follow lessons and problem sets. I docked it one star because it's pretty full of the standard microtransactions you'd usually see in a mobile game. I understand they have to pay both for the AI server and the tsumego library, but it would be nice to be able to pay for the tsumego 'pro' content (reviewing solutions to problems, maybe with a regular supply of 'keys') without paying for pro AI access (tickets, AIs unlocked).

I rate the game *with* yearly subscription (30€ right now) at 4-5 stars. they put a lot of work into the app. the ingame currency is a joke selling expensive single-use features that are always used up, so the subscription is the only option. As free player, I'm put off though after solving puzzles for a while. Even the ability to study failed puzzles without the help of an AI requires a subscription. So eventually I would replay the problems from small preview pictures on my own goban. WHY?!

I believe it's a great strategy game and it's teaching me in a pace in which I can learn it
