Needs improvements. Sometimes, the "controls" activity doesn't show any control at all, just an empty screen. Sometimes connection is difficult to obtain, the system fails (mainly over the internet). When you start the app it always asks "do you want to connect?" of course i do want, that's why I opened the app in the first place.
It works with Android! I recently bought the wifi module for a used Marquis hot tub I just purchased. After installing it, I connected my phone directly to the wifi, I could see the temperature, but I couldn't change anything. I was so disappointed and upset with myself for not checking the reviews first. I tried to connect the WiFi to my home Network and that didn't work either. No confirmation from app. The trick is to connect to a 2.4g network, then the app works perfectly from anywhere.
2 seconds of fun and after 2 modules still not able to get it to work and let it work for over 2 seconds. Very unstable and not working product (still don't know if it is the hardware or the app) No errors if not found, no cloud connect option or what option ever. Get to work and make people happy, sometimes its better to start over or let the opensource world create its own setup.
The app is just ok, but it could do so much more. constantly having to reconnect to the wifi network is annoying, so is scrolling through the light button to access different colours. All features from the small HotTub keypad should be available via the app with a help tab explaining what the features are. An expensive HotTub with a below average app (I have never seen an update for this app in 6 Months).
I've purchased a hot tube. We're meant to be able to use this app to activate the hot tub and it's function as we travel home. No chance. We can't even access the app. I can't even get it to load up. It will not connect. Please sort this. Why are hit tube companies using this app with so many issues which appear to be all the same gripes and moans and issues. Know one seems to care so long as we ate spending thousands on hot tubs. I've reverted to old school and press buttons on the tub.
It is nice to be able to control my spa from anywhere, but the app could use some modernization. As examples, creating a skill for Alexa control, being able to setup routines with preset light colors, heat, and jet selections to name are some features I'd love to see in future releases.
Have to set the record straight here. this app works fine on my Samsung S10 Android phone. Installed in seconds, opened it and it offered to connect. I accepted and it connected in about 2 seconds. Had to check twice as it happened so fast. Controls the Hot Tub just fine. Very pleased.
only works for 3-4 days then wont connect. you have to reset the box with the magnet and complete the set up again. alot of money for something that doesnt stay connected. i have the unit on the other side of the wall from my router, very strong signal but wont stay connected. should have a hard wire connection available on the unit.
UPDATE: the control panel on the spa was locked 🔒. Going directly to spa and manually unlocked it (once locked at the spa you can only unlock at the spa not through the app), the app worked flawlessly (new app not the old one - the one with Demo Mode). Once it connects it trims down the number of pumps and options to the exact configuration of my spa with the exception of unlocking (Raise temp Hold - Tap Light Twice).
Controls pumps, lights and temperature, easy to set up and use. Some have complained about set up, you need to open the port on your router. Others have complained about it disconnecting, this is google powere options not the app, enable background in power options.
Trash. Frustrating. Issues connecting. I need to open the spa to reset the antenna. Afterwards all is well until the next time I want to use the app. I have a stable gaming router with plenty of distance and bandwith to stay connected.
Bought module for hot tub. Directly it only connected once after many tries on my android. Once I did finally get it connected whilst next to hot tub I connected to my home WiFi but then it wouldnt connect via app. It kept showing connecting message and then popped up option to connect or demo over and over again. Tried reinstalling app many times and contacting Balboa via my dealer with no luck. In end returned module as its completely useless! Avoid buying module as option if using android.
Diconnected all the time. Multiple attempts to reconnect and use wifi module failed. can't say that the signal is weak, since imash system is installed in house. First connection was successful, but after that even reset didnt help. Works once in a while.
Basically the same as all the others comments. Works for days or a week and then stops working. The hardware and software needs a complete update as it is not a stabe platform. Needed three modules to get one that works and even this one only works for days, then stops.
It just doesn't work on my Coast Spas Swim Spa. It is an issue with the Android app and not my wifi or the spa setup because I can successfully access and control the spa with all my iOS devices. I tried on my wife phone and it's the same (we both use Samsung Note 8). If I try on a Pixel XL phone it works well, just like iOS so there is something finicky with Samsung.
Had this on our tub for over 2 years. Apart from the odd glitch this app has performed as it should on my current S10+ and also on my previous S7 Edge. Don't believe any reviewers that claim it doesn't work on Android! It does! I would like to see the option to control the Microsilk function via the app at some point.
Sort of works on local WiFi. Used once remotely, worked. Now it doesn't? No settings, stupid connect or demo popup every time? I work with computers and networking, not sure how the remote connection is supposed to work.
Doesn't work at all with android. Did at one point. I need a new wireless receiver to work with my hot tub system since Balboa apparently has no intention of providing a functional app for their product. 30,000 dollars for my system. You would think balboa would like to support the companies using their product. But no.
will not make final connection. Balboa wifi module is 32 inches away from house Linksys Wifi router with nothing but air between the two. everything goes great until I press Balboa app settings then wifi button. then it tries to connect .... after 90 min nothing. I tried WPA with password, WPS, and a combination of the two and each time after 90 min at the final connect nothing. $500+ down the toilet. what a scam by Balboa.
Ridiculous.. I buy an $18k swimspa and pay extra for the WiFi option, only to find out that the the app DOES NOT support Android. Read the other reviews!! The company is aware of this issue but they have no eta on if or when they will fix it. Don't waste your money on their product.
Update: it has started working again and the app looks different so I'm assuming it recently took an update. Thanks...... previously - spent $300 on the wifi module and app wont work with my S10+. Also wont work with my son's S8. Works fine with my old A5...and daughters iPhone 8. Probably an Android 9 compatibility issue.
I had issues like most others, have spend 2 days trying to connect and convince myself that I'd not wasted my money. best tip I found to make it work was to clear the app memory cache and rest the wifi module with the magnet. annoyingly it connected first time after that. wish I'd have known that from the start
This app is garbage. I am connected to my spa through wifi and it's a crapshoot if the app connects. And to connect to it through the internet, forget about it. done wasting my time. Got it working maybe twice.
Fantastic Awsome amazing so easy to setup ...plug and play ok the Wi-Fi module is super expensive had it 3 weeks no disconnects Spa is always ready to go when I want no need to turn it on till just before your ready my tub heats up 3 degrees per hour and drops 1 degree per hour when not turned on so I know just when it's ready.
use to work. has worked for 6 months. still waiting for answers. currently would not recommend spending the money getting the wifi capability. Clearly there is a lot of negative feed back about this. would be good if something was done to save thier reputation.
It's kind of picky about how it's installed, but, once it's installed correctly it works great. It seems to prefer that your router be set to a static port rather than auto select. The Wi-Fi unit itself does not have a lot of range (probably why they included a 12 foot cable). Once these issues were addressed I find the app works just fine. On a personal note I wish they had made controls on the interface a bit larger and easier to read.
