True to the original. Playing on S22 Ultra and it runs super smooth. No issues so far, although I'm only at chapter 2. Will update if there are any problems I encounter. Highly recommend and will be getting the second one after I finish a few playthroughs on this.
Hmm...I enjoyed the game briefly, but there may be sone kind of glitch, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding something...While en route to the Friendly Arms inn, i cannot seem to leave the second travel screen. When I try, I am shown a map, and click on the destination, then click the TRAVEL button it unlocks...and then nothing happens. I'm just shown back at the place where I reached the edge of the travel screen.
There is place for improvement: 1)Add an option to adjust interface size, buttons are too small 2)Make text size setting affect the size of text in menus (its extremely small to the point its hard to read) 3)Resize main menus. They are 800x600 and in result only 1/2 of screen is used, which is ugly 4)Make a full screen mode. My camera is just a little circle but the game doesnt use the remaining free space
One of my favorite games! I have played hours on hours of it and will change my review to a 5 star after this is fixed. I can't start the game because it says internet connection is required for first time. I have tried wifi and 5 G. Neither seem to work.
Be warned. There is no support for later android updates. It is impossible to add the supposedly cross compatible save games to the data file on a pixel 6. This issue is because the file is unreadable to all file managers. Beamdog has yet to add a means of importing the Dave file from within the app.
At first had issues but turned out it was the tablet on screen buttons covering game buttons and not this app. Works the same as on pc. i cannot rate this game enough. on pc i must have played months and months. one of the best games ever produced. (Also i managed to get it while the sale was on so even more awesome) keep it up guys !! now playing it on my new tablet and still rocks. Awesome Repeats itself. Buy this game. you will not be dissapointed. !!! Playing on new phone and still rocks.
Beautiful game, they even added the french voices and writting. The story is one that stays memorable and that will keep you wanting to install it again even after finishing it. I have bg2 but keep coming back here before playing it. Dont ask yourself do i get this game, its worth it adventurer.
Probably better for a tablet or on PC. The interface is too small for a phone. Also buggy during tutorial (casting spells), the dialogue even pops up that Belt was healed by Branwen, then she says "you haven't cast a spell yet.. "
Playing on galaxy s21: Since the last update I'm seeing a display issue on the right side of the screen the menu icons are being cut off in the corners and are more difficult to press. On the left side there's a noticeable black bar about the same size as the icons so it seems like the screen is just being offset incorrectly
since last "fix" I am unable to open chests when starting a new game. I tried to reinstall the game to see if this fixed the issue, however the game won't download now. please re release the pre bug "fix" game as that version actually worked. So, new version added after a year, installed this time but very buggy. Game crashes if you try to steal from shops and you cannot click on some chests in areas. Please just release a version that works on android, like the original one I bought
Great game. Fantasy S.W.A.T. made by Bioware which is why it's mechanics are similar to Mass Effect but as an RTS. (Squad of RPG classes with abilities. You issue commands while paused and they execute the orders.) Text is small and UI requires extremely precise finger taps to use. It's worth it though.
HEY BEAMDOG! I my last review mentioned an issue with secret cashe being difficult. I'd just like to say that I found my way around it and I do love the game it wasn't deserving of a 3. So I've bumped it to 5. Please continue to be awesome. If your dev team actually sees this thank you for all your hard work. I wish you the best of luck in future endeavors.( I had a friend modify pick up vicinity bar to work with cache)
Playing on Sony Xperia 1 ii. Working on the phone, no problems yet. Had a weird black screen the first time I tried starting the game, but worked with no problems after closing the game and restarting.
Tried for hours in the beginning "tutorial" but all my party members are stuck in the exact same spot and they wont move. The tutorial wont even let me skip it. The game is totally unplayable!
I actually bought BG2 first then saw this was also on sale so I auto bought. So I deleted my BG2 playthrough n began from the beginning. I'm actually finding it easier to get into BG1 than I had in BG2. With the vast amount of options n character creation available, this game becomes extremely enjoyable n has fantastic writing. So I'm currently playing a Witcher build, in a CPRG world which I've always wanted with hundreds of hrs of content n a 2nd game waiting to port my character over after
Unfortunately nearly impossible to play it on phone, characters and dialog boxes are so small and very hard to control and read.Bought it time ago and just tried it now, a waste of money unfortunatelly
Not adapted for phones. Just ported across as is. Everything is too small, especially to text. Just creating a character has left me with eye strain and a headache.
Ported poorly. No optimization whatsoever to accomodate playing on phones, 10" screen required if you want to play without a magnifying glass. Another obvious one is that Tutorials refer to keyboard and mouse even if you have touch controls. And said touch controls are quite bad. Also, there is a bug where the game crashes when stealing from shops fail.
Giant dialogue window makes it difficult to play spent 10 hours trying to play around it when I accidentally pulled it down. The developers could have explained that better.
If you love BG this is a great game that stays true to its roots. HOWEVER, I have experienced a bug that can make navigating a bit tricky. Any time I go to view the local map in any place of significant size, it crashes. this means that even though the world map is fine, I can't load it unless I go to leave an area. it's not an insurmountable bug and seems to have mostly to do with the memory usage in my phone (Samsung J7) but for a person that has never played this classic game it could be so frustrating they just quit, especially when they are looking for specific places in the city proper.
A great port aside from the controls. You can use a mouse and keyboard, but it's not what you want to do on a tablet. I own all of the Baldur's Gate franchise on PC and was keen to see how the Enchanced Edition played. Overall, it's good, but is let down by the aforementioned controls. Mainly trying to interact with the environment, like opening small containers and looting bodies, or choosing and NPC to talk to, but the overarching annoyance is trying to move through doors, or to the next area on the map. I've died more times to not being able to get where I'm tapping, than in actually in combat. You'll tap to open a door, then tap again to enter, except your whole party will just huddle in the doorway as you've not tapped the exact pixel that you are required to, even at full zoom. In combat this is disastrous, especially as you can accidentally select a single party member. The same happens at the edge of maps, too. Lastly, some menus don't have 'back' buttons on the screen, you need to summon your Android buttons if you don't have softkeys on your device. A good port, but needs some polish. If they fixed it, I'd buy them all again for my tablet!
After The newest update , Everytime I'm in game and hit the map button, the map zooms out, freezes my phone for 35 seconds, then it reboots back up. PLEASE fix this asap, as this is one of my favorite ports. You guys are doing an amazing job however, I think the latest batch of updates, was a miss. Thank you though for an amazing port, I canNot Stress that.
Fantastic port, one of the greatest games ever made for 10 quid is great value. The ui works perfectly, the size of the font can be changed in settings along with many other things and the game just runs super smoothly in general. I really recommend it to anyone, whether you've played it before or are new to the series. Don't worry about performance issues, my phone is rubbish and this game still works perfectly. Fingers crossed for a Fallout 1&2
Baldur's Gate is a masterpiece, and I encourage you to play this game on any platform. This is a 5/5 game in my heart. However, the UI really needs an overhaul to make it less clunky as a phone game (like sidebar options shouldn't clutter the screen, make more room for ability icons, etc.). However, aside from some aspects of the UI, the game is fantastic.
I really enjoyed playing this. But a few problems. You can't turn on the console, or remove the XP cap at 161,000 XP without modding the apk. Both should be possible to toggle in the menu, or have the .ini file be accessible in the android directory. Because not being able to reach higher levels, adding items or making up for bugs, makes the game a lot less replayable. It's frustrating having an NPC disappear and knowing that you could have found them using the console.
