I found I had disabled some services in Google Play services. Restoring these brought functionality to the game. Email support from DEV first class. Thanks.

I believe that this app has been shut down. I used to use it like 4 years ago, and I remember how fun it was. It's really sad, especially since I wanted to play it again.
