It's not the best as apps go. It's the combination of the lack of voice prompts and the untraditional eq. Also it seems to lag in the connection between the app and product. The lack of the ability to customize the features may pose a minor issue too. Compared to the quality of your very refined products this app is on a noticeable lower level. In this regard the app. Maybe consider primitive Compared to your closest competitor's app.
There's a lot more work needed to be put on the app to match the b&o reputation. I'm using the app with beoplay eq. Some times it's just sluggish to open up, some times it's stuck on loading screen with the b&o logo and when it opens up, some of the functionality is grey out and not available. Gotta restart the app, clear the cache or switch the Bluetooth off and on again for all the functions to be available. Dark mode is also missing..
Awful. Forces you to sign up to receive communications and offers when creating an account. No option to unsubscribe in the app even though they say you can. App constantly freezes and requires restarting. Home page of the app is useless, seems like some fashion magazine. Can't even add my new headphones to it, it won't let me select any products when adding a new device. This is about the worst experience you could have with an app.
This application mostly works flawlessly, but on occasion it fails to connect to my Beoplay Portal when it is simultaneously connected to multiple Bluetooth devices. I am unsure if this is a transient issue or something more consistent, since I have only used this application for around a week as of the time of writing this review, but I will update it once I have had more usage time with it.
Absolutely obsolete and very unintuitive service just to connect to your average bluetooth Box. This App makes it almost impossible for friends to connect to it because noone is willing to go through the lengthy progress of setting everything up. Also, the necessity of an online account just seems like a lazy attempt to grab data from the customers and the little "features" that the app is selling arent worth the effort. I definetely wont buy a Bang & Olufsen product again.
It looks quite neat and equalizer works awesome. I think for app to have some kind of audio upgrade like Sennheiser's one, you would feel like you turn on a higher quality sound and could compare to lower quality sound. Pairing to app does not work well, it's taking so much time to see battery percentages and I lost view of battery % for the case. I don't know why. App could definitely be better, dark theme would be great as well, white ones kill eyes especially during the night.
Did the responsible thing and installed the update, however it took an extremely long time and you can't leave the app while doing so. Finally finished the update, and then it got stuck connecting so after about 15 minutes, I closed out the app. Now my right earbud is completely fried. The app can't find it and it won't turn on, just random white flashes & pops. Tried disconnecting, no luck. Factory reset doesn't even work. These buds are only 4 months old and barely used.
Several people having the same issue with this App. After several attempts to setup my Beoplay A9, I gave up as the app fails to detect the device. Tried uninstalling \ reinstalling several times, but it cannot find the A9. I eventually connected an ethernet cable between the A9 and my laptop to manually join it to my network, but even after doing that, this app still can't see it on my Android device it's installed on which is connected to the same network. So of no use to me unfortunately.
Funny how I wrote a review and it's been deleted. Your 2.4 star review speaks volumes. My Besound level is going back to the shop for a refund tomorrow. The app is a confusing clusterf#ck and overly complicated. There should be a stand alone Bluetooth connection with optionality for WiFi based app. I will admit that when connected, the speaker is amazing, but with the impossible app setup, loss of android Bluetooth connection constantly happening it makes it useless to me.
I use my pair of Beolit 17 spkrs on my boat, but the app setup process requires registration rendering the app unusable without Internet! This bloated app is frankly useless, it adds nothing. The ONLY thing it does that you can't otherwise do is to read the battery level of the speakers. Again, poor design, my other Bluetooth speakers report battery level to the OS so no app needed. UPDATE APR 2022. The app now interferes with music playback, have to close it to play music from S20, amazing!
Unable to setup E8 Earbuds! I have tried several times and the app just won't find my earbuds! I can detect them by searching them by Bluetooth however when trying to connect, it sets me to the app but the app won't find them! It's my first pair of B&O and really had higher expectations! What do you guys do with all that money you are charging for your devises since you cannot pay enough to develop an app that actually works! I am sending them back and buying Jabra! They work way better!
It's amazing to me how problematic an app of a company of this caliber can be. This app is a joke. Almost never works. Barely found my P6s. Connects to them whenever it decides, absolutely did not manage to get them to pair - "something went wrong" It's so upsetting when you are paying such a price for a product and they can't even make an app that works.
This app will not connect to my speaker however I try; it appears broken and has made my B&O speaker functionally useless. I don't even know what the point of this app is... Bluetooth connections should be seamless and transparent to the user, and should not need an app to get in the way. I'm just going to use my minirig instead from now on.
Always have trouble connecting my H9 headphones. And yes I did reboot the headphones and reinstalled the app. Such a shame because I love my H9's with the premium price we pay for B&O you should think that they would put a little more effort into the app. Will see what happens to the app before I switch to bower& Wilkins when it's time for an upgrade.
Updating my score from 2 to 4 stars as app connectivity has been much better lately. My only complaint is the transparency mode, my surroundings dont get loud enough and i believe there's room for improvement. The sonys and jabra do a much better job, I think a small tweak in a firmware could fix this.
It seems everyone has the same issue. App doesn't work and neither does bluetooth anymore. Forcing customers into using an app that doesn't work / screws bluetooth seems to have been badly thought out. Now I have a pair of overpriced earbuds that I can't use... Update 4/16/22 - got some generic troubleshooting suggestion and the tech rep didn't further reply. Don't think I'd use this brand again
Limited and hands tied. The "hold on and wait" mentality takes away from the premium experience B&O EQ attempts to implement. You click something, and just wait to see if it happens. There is nothing letting you know what is happening in the background. Also the limited options for transparency and noise cancellation mode give no flexibility for features that other brands always have at a cheaper price point. One word, disappointing. Earbuds are supposed to allow life to carry on while using.
The application doesn't function well. It doesn't save my last use preset. Everytime I have to re-setting after Bluetooth is connected. Moreover, if you open the B&O app before the media player apps, sound will be struggling every second. It seems you connect and disconnect Bluetooth every second. So you have to open media player app then open B&O app to setup what you want.
Very unstable App, not smooth or consistent at all. Works well when it works but is so frustrating and unpredictable, no where near the quality it should be and complement the headphones which deserves so much better.
Features and options are difficult to find. Having found it still difficult to find again. The app works better than the controls (Google presets) on the Emerge or Level which worked first time around but not again.
The app literally won't let me add ANY products, so my Portal headphones aren't customizable at all now because this app is the only way to change anything. Pretty disappointing for such a premium level product. Satisfaction in this app seems pretty poor across the board. I think you guys need some new software engineering talent.
Cannot connect with the app, with the new phone S22. Very disappointing. Think to sell back and look for something else this is because the unsatisfied noise canceling and the ear cups witch create disconfort for longer period. It is pitty because the materials used are top and sound quality is verry good.
The app sets up my Beoplay A9 1st Generation, but nothing can connect to the speaker..... Spotify simply says connecting and then it gives up and continues to play on my phone. The app also cannot read what software version my speaker is running B&O have agreed up the A9 1st gen for years - Very sad customer
I have some speakers of different well known brands and separately used their app in my same cell phone. cell phone connect to B&O speaker by Bluetooth is great, but B&O app connect to speakers by Bluetooth will be frozen for a long time.
After the most recent software update, I've not been able to connect my phone to Beoplay2 speaker, no matter what. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it again, unpaired and paired both devices - still nothing. It says it's connected, but my zoom meetings, YouTube videos, system sounds are just not coming through the speaker. I'm very disappointed. I thought this was supposed to be easy.
