Barcode Scanner+ (Plus)
Barcode Scanner+ is an enhanced version of the popular, free Barcode Scanner application, which is a product of the ZXing open-source barcode scanning library from Google. Barcode Scanner+ is based on the same code, and has been developed by one of the two primary authors of the original Barcode Scanner, Sean Owen.
As of 2015, 100% of revenue (after Google Play fees) goes to benefit an environmental cause like the World Wildlife Fund or the Rainforest Alliance. $6,920 has been donated since January 2015.
Barcode Scanner+ includes all of Barcode Scanner's functionality, and is intended as a drop-in replacement for Barcode Scanner. It adds several enhancements:
Better barcode scanning
- New image processing algorithm for detection of 1D barcode formats, including UPC and EAN product codes
- Uses both cores of dual-core processors
- Optionally, scan for Aztec and PDF417 barcodes (note: PDF417 support is 'alpha' quality)
- Rewritten to take advantage of Java 6, Android 2.2+ APIs, and latest Android SDK features
Refined user interface
- Now scan in tall "portrait" orientation, in addition to "landscape" orientation
- More intuitive pattern-based scanning guide
- Streamlined and improved user interface elements

I've just uninstalled it !!!! If you can scan the item it is because you have it in your hand and it is obvious that you know what it is !!! It is included in my grocery list thinking that will transfer all the info so I don't have to write it down . No!!!! it just sits there giving me info that I already know. It works perfectly but It did not work as I expected in a grocery list. It is intended to make you purchase the updated app for $4.99 !!! Very tricky 🤭
Fast and easy to use. Decode images. History of results. Share results. This app does it all and works like a charm. Highly recommended!
For some reason I always receive a notification saying the android camera failed after doing a web search. Force stopping the app does fix the problem, but only temporarily. Other than that it's a good app.
I keep getting this is an app for older versions of android.. And what is with all these app permissions. Really so intrusive. I uninstalled it
Doesnt work. Installed it to use as a scanner for a test machine, it was the one recommended by the machine developer, and it doesnt work. Not only that, it wants access to everything before it will install. Rubbish.
Just installed, the problem I think some are have is when lineing up is the orientation you will see numbers, make sure the numbers or like that of the barcode your scanning. Phone is a Moto E4 plus.
Better than the original, no ads, portrait mode and additional information on each scan.
Terrible on data matrix and qrcodes. iPhone's do well when this app fails. 2 stars because it works 90% on standard barcodes.
Never can focus on barcode or QR code. Have others that do a better job. Worked great on early versions but: WOW... I MEAN WOW... WPS....

Access to device history? Wi-Fi? Lots of other info? Why does a simple app need accedd to more than a camera?!
This is the best app. It doesn't have adds. This will scan everything barcode and Qr code.
Old app, soon as open it comes up with warning to check for updates due to being made for older version of android!
It scans well, but it continually uses the Samsung Internet browser, although the default on my phone is Chrome.
It works great, expect for data matrix codes, which are not scanning at all.

Best and fastest scanner for Android! I've used this app for the past 6+ years! Snappiest BC/QR scanner, with the lowest amount of system resource usage! I also love that it scans photos for codes, too! Forget the newer apps; Stick with a time-tested legend! Works like a dream on my old AND new phones! For those complaining about blurriness, try checking the settings for the two auto-focus options. If you need multiple scan to text, though, look into keyboard apps with barcode scanning.
