We moved over to Bark from MMGuardian when my kid got an iPhone. Bark does alert you when something comes up but it doesn't give you access to the actual phone like my old app. My biggest complaint is that there is ALWAYS a problem to fix. I spend 2-4 hours a week reconnecting, updating the app, changing settings and changing them again in order for the app and phone to stay connected for 4-5 days max. Not worth it given it's a paid subscription. A lot of work for little information accessed.
The app isn't responsive when changing profile. I found out my child disabled the VPN and the profiles wouldn't work. Like right now it should be in default but won't enable anything. Too many issues. I was appealed to the concept and features but the execution wasn't there, lots of bugs to be worked out.
Don't buy into the hype. This program advertises inter-operability across multiple platforms. Paid the annual fee, installed as directed on multiple platforms (iphone, android, laptops) and NONE OF IT WORKED. Over a month of attempted troubleshooting and still nothing. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.
When it works, it works. When it doesn't, the customer support is positively terrible. They repeat back the problem you just stated and ask if that's the problem you're having. This happened to me repeatedly. A solution would've be so much more appreciated!!
Either it's sending alerts at midnight 1AM but the "incident" happened earlier in the day. Or its sending alerts but the alert has already been checked and cleared but the app doesn't register you did. All while waking you up in the middle of the night.
My daughter's phone has been glitching ever since we updated Bark. Please fix whatever bug is causing this. We have to restart her phone constantly and it didn't start until we updated your app.
I signed up for the free trial. Cancelled on the last day because even though I would "pause" the internet or apps my son could still use them and I could never get a live person to assist me. Don't you know Bark charged my card for an annual membership AND they locked me out of the account. So I am out $90and I have a very upset 12 year old because I can not stop Bark from locking his phone down at unexpected times. Oh AND I STILL can not get a live person to help.
It's okay but not great. I do get alerts but NEVER same day. I got an alert this morning 5/20/22 at 12:41 am 😴 about a text message sent on 5/17/22 at 4:41pm. Would have been nice to get the alert then.
This app alerts me of inappropriate texts between my daughter and her friends. It allows the opportunity to bring up topics to help guide my daughter when she's having a rough time.
Getting ready to delete. Ever since iTunes starting loading from the Windows Store the Bark control app cannot recognize it and says I need to update itunes.
Not configurable enough. Can't add a second parent account. Only one person can manage controls or credentials have to be shared.
I cancelled this subscription because I don't use it and was still charged. Trying to log back into the app and am unable to because it wasn't a me to rejoin.
After I paid the subscription fee for a year the bark team canceled and locked me out of my account and won't refund money. This is a scam.
Absolutely awful! It says it works for iOS but it is an absolute NIGHTMARE to get it figured out. You have to install so many things and must have a home computer. I installed the Bark on my home computer then was told i had to install iTunes. I did so.. still didn't work. I did a bunch of troubleshooting and still will not work. Canceled subscription and will move on to a different app.
Very lacking. Simply having some limits to apps. would be ideal. A list of installed and removed apps. is necessary. Allowing screen time limits or at least a warning of time online is needed. The ability to block installation of apps. especially unknown apps. 0 filters on browsing is unacceptable for a paid app. It's okay at best. Unfortunately it's easier and free to just ask for my kids phones.
I like the idea of this app, but it makes a lot of the apps on my son's tablet not work properly (e.g. YouTube, Minecraft, Add-ons). I deleted the VPN portion, which seems to help. Seems to defeat the purpose if the minute you activate it, things that you have no problem with are not working (this has nothing to do with the hours that he's been using it, or screen-time limits), VERY frustrating.
Initially thought this app would be great, but it is very pricey and causes your child's phone to block apps and filter content that you have not asked it to. In addition, I have requested to reset my password many times and never received the email to reset. Once I did find the password on my own, now I can not get into account settings to cancel my account. I've entered several help tickets, no luck. There appears to be no one on the help desk. Now stuck with an expensive, unusable app.
I have no access to the kids phone. I want to cancel the subscription before the 3-day trial. I can't use it.
The app worked well for about a year. Since then, the VPN feature, which is required to make the app work, has turned my child's phone Samsung Galaxy S7 into a brick. They can't do anything with the VPN on. Hence, the app is useless because they have to turn the VPN off in order to actually use the phone, it's features, or apps. Also, the apps keep disconnecting. That then requires 15-20 minutes reconnecting/ diagnosing. Sadly, we're going to find another option.
