Barmark

Note: The game requires a fairly new device for best play experience.
About the game:

Barmark is a point n' click exploration game, where you can alter the game's environment in order to achieve harmony and personal perfection. There are no goals, no points and no death. Barmark let's you be in control of your own experience.

For each new game in Barmark five landscapes out of eight possible will be randomly chosen. Also a randomly selected pair of Archanimals will be chosen to inhabit Barmark. As you explore the lands and interact with these animals they will ask you for various hidden machines to be turned on. The machines will alter the surrounding landscapes and can be combined in multiple ways, creating an almost infinite variety to Barmark's nature. Depending on the alteration, one of the two types of Archanimals for that game will populate the lands. There are no decided missions for the player. Instead you can choose to alter the environment according to your liking, according to what you think feels right. You can also plant flowers to make the environment feel more like your own. Barmark is like an ever changing Zen garden that you can hold in your hand. Barmark wants to explore new definitions of gameplay, interaction and control.

When I think art games I think of thatgamecompany and their wonderfully atmospheric titles Flower and Journey on the PS3. I think they were going for something like that here. A game that is non adversarial but it is instead purposeless. Unlike Sword & Sworcery it also has a weak soundtrack so it isn't carried by that either. All that is left is the visuals...it would have been more suitable as a set of wallpapers if I'm honest.

There was no way to save what I was doing, and moving was incredibly slow. Hit detection was really bad as well, I routinely got stuck and needed to span touch around my character to wiggle out. It seems very incomplete.

Lovely idea; I was really looking forward to playing. Loved the graphics & music. I would get stuck on things in my path & not be able to move no matter where I clicked. Had difficulty getting the archanimals to show me which machines they wanted until I figured out I had to be standing right in front of the head when I clicked on it. Wished there were a lot more interactive options within each scene as it quickly became dull. Plants I'd planted disappeared if I travel to another land & back.

Although it has force closed once, this game is the most beautiful thing I have ever played on any technical device, I would recommend this to you as an incredible game and an unforgettable gameplay experience, wow.

I will have to try again . don't really get it,but it is something appealing. Will donate my money either way. An A for creativity.been trying to get her to do something more than just turn on the machines. How can i get her to plant? Atleast some minimal guidance on how to make things happen. I keep tapping and she walks. All i can do..:-)

I kept having to hard reset my quad core tablet. Never even saw one environment.

Incredibly beautiful design and incredibly beautiful music makes this game incredibly relaxing. I wish that there was extra options for using the different levels as phone wallpaper and listening to the music outside the game (other people in the room asked me what artist I was playing!). I also wish the levels were bigger/longer and slightly more interactive, but it's still a wonderful game!
