Lesson 8 is specially designed to teach children to read and write the letters Aa to Zz with the mnemonic techniques. It is a visual tool that uses a picture-word association to provide a memory bridge for children to remember sounds and letters.

app wouldn't start
This is a wonderful, synthetic phonics app, teaching the code of the English language. We loved it so much that we purchased the second portion of the app, Basic Phonics 2. The learning activities are short and a great manner to introduce and review the letter sounds of the ABCs, as well as the more advanced code (dipthongs, digraphs, etc.). It is also a great app for frequent review because the activities are fairly brief. It seems to follow the teaching order of Jolly Phonics, but I can't say this with absolute certainty. The pronunciations of the sounds are also pretty pure and accurate, which is very important. We homeschool, and it's a great substitute for brief reviews after introducing a new sound picture/letter sound in our Jolly Phonics reading lessons. It also helps children discern beginning and ending sounds, as well as extends a few other skills for both reading and spelling. There is also a writing section that teaches children the proper manner to write the letter, with a few minor errors for formation. Ei. When written by hand, the letter "b" is one felt swoop, whereas it is in 2 parts on the activity. Still, a great app for learning phonograms!! Recommend!
I love it, it's so well designed. I bought an Android tablet just to get this app # ! if you only have 2 apps get basic phonics 1 and 2. this will get kids up to level fast.
This is such a sweet app! It's simple, but thoughtfully designed. I love how much repetition there is for each phoneme. I love that they don't place an "uh" sounds after /b/ and /w/ for example. It's so annoying to see other apps do this. Pacing is excellent; I love that they don't bog down the experience with unnecessary animations after every right or wrong answer. This is a great app to supplement other materials and for some quick practice/review. Worth purchasing for sure!
