This is a HORRIBLE app! It will not allow me to set up this app and connect it to my pc account, it keeps telling me serial number is invalid, and if course, when I try to contact them about it, there's no one to contact. Someone is trying to steal my account, I finally got it back but since I can't use the authenticator, they're going to take it again in sure, and of course, Blizzard was no help there either. If my account gets hacked again, then I'm done with your company.

Complete garbage app, didn't work on my old phone, still doesn't work on my new phone. I get the "Setting Up.." infinite loading screen problem for both. I've tried some solutions but nothing has worked. I get daily email notifications that someone is trying to steal my account, and I can't even get two factor authentication? What a complete joke.

App will not complete set up. Input email & password, hit set up button & app stalls at "Setting up..." for as long as I care to leave it running. Have tried all the permission & cache clearing, etc, recommended on Blizzard's website to no avail. Spoken to several CSRs, all very friendly, who go through the same support steps I've already tried. When those don't work, they consult a tech, whose response is "do a factory reset or buy a new phone". Thanks, techs. Galaxy S8+ running Android 9.

I installed this upon Blizzard's suggestion after having someone update my password without my approval. Unfortunately, this app has updated at some point since it was set up, and it no longer functions. I need the authenticator code to log in on a computer, but I can't log into the actual authenticator app - it's just a neverending parade of "an unknown error occurred." Complete garbage unless you're looking for an easy way to cut yourself off from gaming!

The app took two attempts to install and now it is perpetually stuck "setting up". I'm not using some obscure device produced in Atlantis for this either, it's a recent smartphone of a popular brand. Frankly I find it concerning and even pathetic that they can't get an authenticator app to work smoothly with the resources they should have. Update: After re-installing the app and restarting my device, I finally got it to work after two of the codes sent resulted in an error.

It took 3 times of uninstalling and reinstalling this app just to get it to work. First time after inputting your code that was texted, it takes you to a blank screen and nothing happens. Second time, it just hangs on a loading indicator indefinitely. Third time was the charm... This app literally fails at its single purpose.

I have been playing since the very first release, and trying to set this up to make my account more secure is unbelievably ridiculous. Got everything ready to go and go to setup and it gets stuck on setup I've been waiting for it to move past setup and have logged into my account several times without having to authenticate it for over an hour I truly hope that this can get fixed because I would love to have a more secure account.

I uninstalled the Blizzard Authenticator from my phone and rebooted. I tried to reinstall it from the Google Play Store, but it wouldn't let me. It tells me it's already installed. I checked my apps list on my phone and it's not there. There is no icon for it on my phone. Very user unfriendly!

This app is awesome just like the Microsoft one it's much more simple to get into apps now al you need to do is pick up your phone, open the app and click on the number that appears on the screen you're using for your gaming. It's wicked and much quicker and much less annoying, that's for sure

Extremely bad- can't even add sms protect- it keeps getting stuck at "setting up..." - i've restarted my phone and reinstalled the app 10 times now and it still doesn't work. Garbage quality like the company.

Had an issue with "session expired" when trying to sign in or enter a recovery code. The recovery code appeared to be accepted but I still was getting "session expired". For fun I looked at the app settings and saw no permission was granted. There was an entry for storage so I enabled that and opening the app again I was not greeted by "session expired" any more - at least not yet. I did not see a prompt asking to grant permission.

This app does not work on the Pixel 3 XL. Please fix this, I am not comfortable having to use a second device just to run this app.. After installing the app, I tap on "Set up Authenticator". It errors with the message "Error... An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.". Trying again later does nothing, it continues to fail to function even to simply setup.

Please Help: The app isn't showing me any notifications! Each time I try to log into my account, it's not giving me any notification at all. Not to mention the "allow / deny" for the 2-step authentication on my account. Please make it work that way!!!!! Or at least fix the notifications on it!! I opened a case, but was sent to open another case elsewhere..... Pfffff.... My phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with Android 10.

Absolutely worthless. Thought I was doing the right thing adding another layer of protection to my account. Now this thing is unresponsive on my phone and I can't even access my account without a code. Basically locked out. The website will not even give me other options to authenticate my log in either. AVOID THIS APP.

Honestly my time with this app, has been irritating. While trying to login my account I had to use this stupid authentication app and All of a sudden I wasn't able to log into my account. This is where getting a new phone or New number becomes an issue. Apparently when you get a new phone number, the authenticator is still connected to your old phone number, meaning you can't even get the authenticator to work correctly, so now I have to make a trip down to MetroPCS and All cause this garbage authenticator. The app is pointless and Unless you have anyone messing with your phone or Laptop, then I guarantee, this app isn't worth the memory or Time of day.

Gho. J. Feb 17, 2022

They delete review, require the use of ID only when it comes to changing the phone number and tie the authenticator to the phone number even if you remove it and try to set it up again later. You better pray and hope nothing happens that phone or number or, they will never change it since it sends a code to that phone number. They really need to update their nethod for proving ownership of an account, to change a phone number!

Such a waste of time and very frustrating to use. Blizzard made me get this stupid thing to actually make a status in LFG for arena. Its dumb its a waste of time its hard to setup its not very informative how to set it up and honestly one of blizzards wort ideas they have ever came up with. I wouldnt even bother with this personally if I were somebody else. Thanks Blizzard for once again adding something well forcing us actually totally useless pointless and just straight up stupid to your game

Stuck on "Setting up" forever. I had to find a workaround it which took a week. Customer support is none existant. For those still having that issue press "back" and it should pop up a web browser, complete the setup in there with a working phone number and go back into the authenticator. It should work now.

Dev. O. Mar 20, 2019

Didn't work originally. After searching, it appeared to be related to AdBlockers. After disabling mine, the Authenticator worked. Two stars for this app, since it needs to connect to advertising servers to function, which only reinforces the fact that Blizz is so greedy that they need suplemental revenue for an app that only serves to secure their other apps (paid and pay-to-win)

Jon. H. Apr 11, 2020

Once the app is installed it is simply named 'authenticator' which as well as being lazy on the part of the devs is also confusing when you are trying to find it. It's as bad as when you download an installer for a program and it just calls itself 'setup'. In my download folder I must have a dozen files just called 'setup'. Hm.. which one was it again? It wouldn't be so bad if you could rename it yourself, but no you can't. Lazy half-assed and very annoying.

Can't pick the correct area code to log in. You can scroll through them but as soon as you lift you finger the selection will close. If you use one finger to scroll and another to pick the code it will choose the right one but as soon as you lift your finger it will change it to something completely different.

I've had an authenticator since 2011 and I haven't experienced any problems with the security of my account thanks to it. The physical and mobile versions of the authenticators work great and they are super easy to set up and use. However I would recommend the mobile one more since it's 100% free and it has SMS protect included, unlike the physical one that costs about £10. I highly recommend this app for anyone that plays any Blizzard game.

I have mixed feelings about this thing because my experience has been completely different from my dad's experience. For me, everything went perfectly fine, no problems at all. For my dad, when he tries to register the authenticator to his account it just says "session expired" and won't register. He's definitely typing is log-in info correctly and there isn't an authenticator already linked to his account or anything like that, so I don't know what's wrong...

Why can't they simply bring back the hard tokens? They're reliable and work every time, well until they finally die, but there's no reason why Blizzard can't make the hard tokens with changeable batteries. My hard tokens did finally die after TWELVE YEARS. Yes, I did have to pay like $6 bucks and some change, but I'd gladly PAY for a reliable device than be forced to switch to yet another stupid app to clog up my phone. And have it NOT be reliable and be locked out of my game account.

After attempting ALL troubleshooting issues, SEVERAL times (reinstalling, restarting, reattaching, closing all apps) while under a high-speed, reliable connection, literally sitting next to my router, I am still stuck on the same, goddamn screen. EVERY. TIME. Fix your abysmal software. Guess I'm not using 2FA any time soon.
