Once you have figured out the minor eccentricities of the app and how to find all the bits that you need, it really is an invaluable source. Being able to list build and then see all the data sheets of your list is so helpful. I have read that not all things on there will be 100% accurate but I have had no issues yet myself. The Games Workshop equivalent is a bit clearer to look at but in terms of functionality Battlescribe is way better. Well done Battlescribe guys!

A very useful app and, once you've learned your way around, a much more convenient way of making an army list, particularly for armies still using the old 8th ed codexes which are honestly the worst layout I've ever seen in my life. I say once you've learned your way around as the app isn't very intuitive or user friendly but it's worth the learning curve.

Fantastic app! Extremely intuitive, user friendly and updates come through fast. The variety of systems supported is fantastic (I use 40k, Horus Heresy, Middle Earth and Kill Team the most often). Ads are not overbearing, though IMHO it is well-worth showing some support to the makers and paying for ad free. If I could suggest any one thing to add, it would be a system for making files of lists. (A request which is testament to just how many lists I have made on this app!)

It's a great app and lets you work on lists on the go. The interface is fairly intuitive and really lets you tweak your lists in depth. The premium features are a nice plus, but the app works exceptionally well without them (no essential functions are paywalled).

Very good app, that usually keeps it's data files up to date, typically updating a few days after any large updates to the irl data. There are a few bugs every now and then, such as my app closes every time I attempt to use the Middle-Earth data files, but aside from that I've never had any trouble with the app. It also allows for quick formatting of the list you've made, a very handy feature, for me anyway.

Still horrendously slow after the last update. I want to edit army lists on the fly, not wait 5 minutes to load a roster. Every other function is fine, the menus aren't clunky, and it's easy to use. If performance and speed were improved the rating would be higher, however given the time needed to open the app, then open a roster, it's quicker to use a pen and paper at the moment

Finally was able to update to 2.01.22! Back in business! This app is so convenient and easy to use. So painless to throw a list together on the fly. Very intuitive interface. I've been playin for 13 years. I never want to manually type out and look up and add up points for a list AGAIN! Especially with how confusing and stupid the points are broken up in the back of the gw codexes. This is an elegant app for a more civilized age.

Really handy for army building on the fly or planning your next game. Kept very well up to date. It's free but the subscription is really cheap for a year and supports the app. My only small gripe is the printing of lists. It could do with a little condensing. A 2000 point 40k Ork army can run to 4 or 5 sheets. Also units aren't split by page. A unit can start printing on one page, cut off and continue on the next page. Other than that it's the best out there.

Very useful. Has a number of problems caused more by the crazy amount of options, overlaps, and small changes in the actual game as far as Warhammer is concerned (I haven't used it for any other game yet). It's also not always up to date on rules and point cost for the same reason, but it is a major help for getting a good idea of what you have. It also provides the rules for your entered models allowing quick and easy viewing in the midst of a game if you need to check something.

I have used Battlescribe with a lot of satisfaction for the last several years now, and will likely do so for several more years to come. I can only give it 4 stars, however, due to ongoing issues with downloading updates and rare inconsistencies with codices, but that doesn't take away that its user-friendly interface greatly helps build and army and keep tabs on stats during matches.

It's BattleScribe on mobile. I'm using premium and use it for just compiling lists on the go. Works really well, although loading times are frustratingly long when network data is enabled. I assume the app is retrieving ad content, though as a premium user I don't see it. It's also got a slight, but not that hard, learning curve. Otherwise, it's probably the best list building app around.

Premium version of the app only lasts a year. I don't use a single other app that does this. I paid for the app to support the creators as everyone seems to use the basic version. Names and notes are a nice feature, but don't make a huge difference and seem to disappear when generating an army list. Still, its extremely annoying that the notes i made previously have been erased.

I've had some minor troubles with "new data" loads, that may be a me problem, but i'm not always getting a successful download. Other than that I really enjoy the app overall, the only thing I would change would be ease of use. A lexicon/glossary of game terms would help with some of the trouble I had navigating the creation of armies. This app is easily one of my favorites and I recommend it.

Excellent app, I can efficiently build a list in literally 5 minutes after some familiarity. A little difficult to navigate some basic functions to begin with, at least for me. Adding another detachment to the same army in 40k was a nightmare, but once found it's like two buttons. Quickly build a list, download the pdf or straight email it to yourself to pront out and you've got a comprehensive breakdown of each unit in your army, although you still need your codex, this app is invaluable.

As a brand new player, BattleScribe has helped me build armies with the latest ruleset much more quickly as there would have been 5+ different books to reference(and I own none yet) but all of it was right here. The interface took some getting used to but I have the hang of it now. The feature to see the PDF format is awesome but also the only way you can see the details of some of your choices. Improvements could be made but it has been immensely helpful so far.

BattleScribe mobile app is fantastic and always has been. Stats, descriptions, and points are all consistently and impressively accurate. With so much data to parse through and aggregate, it's a small miracle it's as consistent as it is. Few bugs and overrall performance issues, if any, in my personal experience. The only persistent mistake I see are typos, but that's par for the course.

After some clarification, I realized I had misunderstood the monetization of the app. Four dollars a year is a fair prize for this app. While the interface could use some work (is a little too cluttered or unintuitive sometimes) gotta say that I'm impressed for all the functionality and options it provides. I feel like I need to use it for longer to give it a perfect score, but I'm please enough to update my review to a more appropriate score.

There is a bit of a learning curve to this app, understanding how to make changes to units and picking options/upgrades. By in large it does a good job for helping to write lists, there are a few areas where it could be improved but so far so good. They really do need to find a way to incorporate multiple detachments into one list, instead of making seperate lists for each detachment and try to remember how many cp you've used and making sure the points add up.

If you're finding that the app is slow or unresponsive then turn off your data while using it. It doesn't actually need an internet connection once you've downloaded the data library but for some reason the app is constantly accessing the internet after every single thing you do. Just turn off the data and the app runs a lot better.

For the most part it's great, the information is set out really well and easy to understand. There are a few little features that would certainly help like copying men inside the unit to save you having to repeatedly go into each guy, though that's really a minor hindrance. If you're a Warhammer or table top player this is a great app for you and well worth he optional £5 a year to support (which lets be honest is buttons)

Makes army building so much quicker. I don't see it as a replacement to an actual codex as properly setting out an army with proper synergy is easier when you have the proper book in front of you. The app just makes bringing it all together easy and saves adding up your points etc. With all the changes that get brought in from FAQs and other sources, the fact that battle scribe are so good at updates means it's the best place to sort an up to date list!! Cant recommend it enough.

BattleScribe is the type of app that I've been looking for. It saves you the time of calculating points cost for each of your units. It doesn't use just one wargame but a variety of them. Bolt action, WH40k and more! It's presented in a way that is easy to navigate and add/remove units which is very helpful. It's an easy 5 stars from me!

Ale. Aug 21, 2019

Rarely do i bother doing this, but here we go. The app repeatedly crashes. Load times are horrendous. Crashes loading lists, adding detachments, even just viewing units. Sometimes randomly stops responding completely. It never fails to load the add before though. For reference, phone is a samsung note9 and has no issues with any other applications. I will update the review if anything changes, but that seems unlikely.

The. May 24, 2020

A very good app to have for playing Warhammer and other Games Workshop games! It has a large repository of data to pull from that is updated frequently. On top of this, the app itself is updated regularly as well, so bugs often short lived. However, it isn't perfect. When you make large rosters for WH40K (i.e. 2 battlions and Spearhead detach.), the app slows down and has a hard time loading all the data once you put in all the units. Overall, I would recommend this app!

It takes a little getting used to but once you've figured out it's eccentricities Battlescribe is one of the most efficient and easy-to-use ways to build an army for virtually any wargaming setup. With a veritable army of rosters to choose from and consistent updates it'll keep you gaming faster and better, making it definitely worth the investment of time to master.

A great app, some minor issues. Tells me everything I need to know is far as data sheets and explains clearly how to make a list meet detachment requirements. The UI of the app is very confusing at times, I wish that their was a feature that let you view the parameters of a detachment type as you pick it. I wish you could change detachment type at will without deleating your whole list.

*Almost* negates the need for the codex. Very convenient. Would be awesome if there was an ability to simplify the list view. Ie if I'm running 5 squads of infantry each with different items, I'd prefer to see one stat block with the items all listed below. Additionally, if I navigate away from the list or turn off my screen it would be ideal if it remembered where it was instead of taking you back to the top of the list. Still, 5 stars as it oeforms its core functions very well.

Great programme; the free version does all you need and the adverts are not a problem while the paid version is there if you want extra. It would be great if you could add a second section to the list for the opponent's army; this would make comparisons easier without having to double up point/ power level limits or swapping in and out of different lists
