Bay News 9 Plus

Worst news app I've dealt with. Keeps crashing or just closes. Will not update news articles, still shows the ones from the day before. Uninstalled and reinstalled and still have issues. I've contacted support and never heard back. Update: (2/5/21) Just as someone mentioned in their review, new spectrum app. That's why they're not doing anything with the original one.

I can't live without it. I depend on the radar & weather on the 9 ever since they started broadcasting. I'm still using the old app cuz the new app just doesn't hold up yet. I like being able to go straight to the radar as a highlighted main option on the app like the old vers. The new one is .. No Stop trying to be like all the other news channels. U were perfect & individual as u were. Original. I LOVED that layout. It was clean & precise.

Dismal. Installed this for "Safety Net" alerts as suggested by weather anchors. Instructions say check "Enable Alerts," but there's no such checkbox. (This is on a Samsung S9+.) App works in vertical mode only, section navigation is easy, but finding anything specific is difficult. Pages take awhile to load, and can appear blank. Traffic & weather maps appear good, but as the alerts are missing, there's no reason to keep this app.

Constantly fails to display weather details. Thought it was our signal which is never very good, but all the news stories and others options pop up quite quickly. But I wait and wait cause when I have trouble streaming or downloading stuff it usually pops in within a minute. Not this apps weather info, not for minutes or hours. This is the second time I have tried this app. Same thing last time. You can probably locate my last reviews. I so want this app. Will keep trying.

I don't know what happened to this app. It was a really reliable before. Now all that shows on my weather map are lightening strikes. I can see the storms coming on the small screen before I open to full screen but then only shows lightening strikes. It's a shame because it was the 1 I relied on most. Deleting the app and going to AccuWeather.

I've given up. For some reason it no longer functions properly. I've tried reinstalling twice on two different devices and the daily stories won't update but remain fixed in time. Odd that Politics works seamlessly. I'll miss the weather map but my emails about it not functioning go unread apparently. Too bad!

When trying to submit content I get a black notification screen saying be careful when taking photos and don't put yourself in harm's way etc etc... but you can't scroll or get to actually do anything. The screen is stuck on this notification which makes submitting anything is not possible. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling app... still the same problem.

Try contacting them. You get an auto reply saying the email address is no longer monitored! Way to go Spectrum! Your consistent at one thing - unreliability! Headlining news is still for September 4! It's now November 21. Just like everything else related to Spectrum - a bunch of poorly maintained "services" that never work! I'm surprised we aren't being charged for having this app yet!

Spectrum is trying to deprecate this app in favor of the Spectrum News app, but the latter is a massive step down in functionality and requires a Spectrum TV account to read the news (and the sign up process doesn't work). The best things about this app are the weather forecast and radar functionality, which are the worst parts of the new app. I dinged 2 stars simply because this app now blares an intrusive video ad for the new app at random times. Typical Spectrum behavior.

This app is awful. Stops working and shuts down. Have in reinstall over and over again just to try to get the headline news stories to appear. Only weather notifications is lightning with 15 miles of me. Finally gave up. Wish they would fix it. Use to be great. Maybe next time I uninstall it, I will pick a different news app.

It's good but has some flaws.... BUGS AND PROBLEMS. It's draining battery insane even just opened with all notifications and background off. It needs to not reset the radar every time you touch or adjust the screen. It will not launch or run decently with unstable data connection. It's bad.

Since spectrum took over this app is horrible. Headlines never update, weather map was great, now it's a joke. Looks like they're using 1980's technology. Glad I cut the cord on spectrum's cable and internet will be getting rid of this battery draining app as well.

Used it for years with no problem. Now the last 3 weeks it doesnt update and only gives current weather forecast. No headlines or current news, just random past headlines. Basically useless except for weather. Reinstalled and results the same.

Very seldom does it work. You select anything and the app crashes. You restart your phone, try it again and it crashes again. Sad because they have the best weather. Its the one I watch at home.

This app is practically useless for getting the local headlines. It used to work and was great but stopped working. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and still not working. I'm switching over to the fox 13 app.

Stopped working. Tells me to download another app. I did. Can't find that app on my phone. Tried uninstalling and installing again, same thing. Why is this app still in the store if it no longer works and just directs you to another app to download....which also seems to be bogus. Spectrum taking over ruined Bay News 9...first the app went down hill and now this. I'm moving on for good.

I am not happy with this app. All of a sudden the app is not showing current news. I am seeing stuff fom 4 to 5 days ago. I uninstalled it then reinstalled it and now it is not working at all. This is on my tablet and my cell phone. Typical Spectrum problems.

This was my go to app for News and weather. Since September 4th the news doesn't update or work at all. Install, uninstall.. doesn't matter. Plus if i scroll down the list is long and never was before. I've installed another Tampabay news app. This one is being uninstalled for the last time. Tomorrow October 4th will be 3 months waiting for all to work again. Bye Bay News 9... what a shame. You used to be my number 1 news and weather app. When Brighthouse the app worked great. I guess Spectrum doesn't care that many of us are deleting their app and for me, now i use Fox13 app for both news and weather. I always liked the Baynews 9 app. What can you do... the app seems no longer used by Baynews 9 anymore. I wonder if Spectrum is slowly making Baynews 9 disappear?

I have loved this app for many years but now when you open it, there's a very loud advertisement that will scare the crapped out of you. I cannot use it in a doctor's office or out in public anymore because of this horrible add that again is extremely loud and there's no way to get rid of it until after it begins. If this is not removed I will discontinue using this app

You have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get the headlines to update. This is extremely inconvenient, obviously. The weather map is ok as long as you have a really strong connection. If not, you're out of luck on that one, too.

Doesn't allow you to enter verification code to join. It loops back to previous screen. And To make it worse all contact us pages lead to error codes. You can't even tell them. Plain stupid app. Zero stars.

Use to love this app. Then started having trouble where the same news would be on it for days. Now at least every other day I have to uninstall and reinstall it to work properly. It's very frustrating. To the point where I am just deleting it for good if they don't fix it.

This new app doesn't work at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled four times and still won't work. I even contacted Help directly on the app and they never responded. Really frustrating.

The news section stayed at July 27 for two months. Decided to delete app then reinstall, news section then blank. Hours later news section only had sports stuff. I do very much like Doppler though but once in a while would like to check out the news.

As much as I trust bay news 9, this app has never once worked over the years. I'm guessing the people writing the checks to the app developers; are simply unaware how badly this reflects on their media outlet as a whole. So tired of unreliable and inconsistent weather predictability here in FL due to lack of concern for people who work based on the weather

Buggy and does not load well. Main app page is busy with a lot of ads and useless filler. Headlines NEVER loads. Better to just use the web version. Uninstalling for good this time.
