BB-8™ App Enabled Droid

I'm annoyed that I need to have this app installed in order to keep the charging animation off. I mainly use Sphero Edu to play with my BB-8, as it has more features and is easier to handle when driving the robot around. But if I uninstall the BB-8 app, the robot keeps wriggling in its charging dock. Please try to add this as a setting in the Edu app.

Overall, I think it's a great app., but its missing one thing that I noticed right away since I already have a Sphero ball. It's missing the tilt steer option where you can choose to steer the droid by tilting the phone in the direction you want it to go instead of using the onscreen joystick. The sphero has this option so I was expecting it to also be an option on the droid. Please add this since it's probably a simple software update. Thank you

Overall pretty fun experience, easy to use and understand but nothing too fancy. Having bought mine at a reduced rate of £60 I'd say it's well worth the money, however if you are looking to get one for over that I'd say think again. The app is pretty basic all in all which isn't a bad thing as it makes using the toy much easier, but it would have been nice to see some refinement and add some sort of customisation to the controls (2 joystick on screen, multiple speeds).

Does everything it says it does. Fun little companion droid that's always fun to see zooming through the house, and the app is easy to understand and reliable. As of writing this I do not have the force band so I do not have access to the full in app experience, so I'm writing this from the perspective of a person using the basic parts of the app, which work wonderfully

Ever since the update this summer, I cannot do most of the very basic things - I cannot scroll down, for example, without first slightly scrolling up, for some reason. I cannot set voice control, once the "bb-8 not detected" message appears, app stops responding completely... I also have issues while connecting it to BB, since it can connect only when my phone is almost touching BB, and loses connection as soon as the phone gets far away (how are people supposed to remotely control it, then?). On top of all that, BB-8 started blinking red almost all the time, and after working around 5 min. or less, it's empty and has to go to charger again! What the hell? For a toy that's not cheap at all, one would expect it to have a longer life 🤬

Normally, it tries to connect and takes several minutes. I've learned to just leave it on the "need help? Contact us" screen for 3-5 minutes and it eventually connects to the unit. But lately, even after it connects, it will freeze and be unusable. You hear the theme music on the app homescreen, but its frozen and you can't choose Drive, etc. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and it may work a few times then back to frozen. Overall the most glitchy and unreliable app I have ever used.

Driving works well. Easy interface, nice tutorials for beginners. Watch with me, however, doesn't work with me at all. Mic works, permissions are on, I deinstalled and reinstalled the app, I forced a system update, checked for RAM, still nothing works. Update: thank you for the quick reply. I will go to support.

Can't connect either. Tried to install the 32bit version per the kb article but it won't install. And yes the permissions are set correctly. It works 1 out of 5 times my son tries and is awesome when it does works. Help! 4/3/20 Tried on multiple Android devices-Nokia and Motorola phones (v9 and 10) and Lenovo tab (8), same result. I don't own iOS devices. Found a version of Droids apk and sideloaded. Works great! Bring that back when you can.

I've had this app in the past and it worked fine, now it doesn't. I did all that was recommended to others and haven't seen any improvements. Yes I gave permission for everything and yes I have the right bluetooth connection. I've tried the other droid app, and still nothing's changed. I DO NOT have another device so my phone is the only option for this. I'm very frustrated and disappointed. I miss playing with my BB-8 and would like to do so again.

I enjoyed the app the first few days it worked. Now it won't connect to the robot. I've tried installing it again but now it won't even go past the download additional content. It still connects to the Edu Sphero though. However I bought the BB8 it for the additional content that had the app and its slightly disappointing to have something so expensive, work the first few days and then not at all. I would give it 5 stars if it was still functioning.

Love this app it's worked almost perfectly. My only complaint is that some off the modes, like patrol mode, don't work properly. For example, I will turn on that mode and bb8 will run in to a wall, then he backs away and basically turns off

It's good fun but would be great if you could add a simple control system like 2 virtual thumb sticks simalar to a PlayStation control. It makes complete sense to do it that way and quite surprised at the difficult system that it currently uses was chosen by the developers. Apart from that it's a neat little robot

Everytime I close the app it loses sync with bb8 and then will not actually reconnect with it. Only way to fix this is to delete the app and reinstall it. Very unstable app that constantly fails. Very disappointed was looking forward to having fun with this.

If you are having problems with the app, reinstalling won't fix it. As the phone save's all the old files, You have to delete all old files from your phone, e.g app memory files, data, etc. You can do this by holding your finger on the app button if app Installed,options will appear to check the files and you can delete them, this will fix the app and then it act like a new install, start after 10seconds, hope this helps people, thank me on my YouTube channel with the same name!

The app stops working all the time, its gets stuck on connecting to my BB-8. The app only works every once in a while, ive deleted and re- installed many times to try to get it to work but it still dosent work. I dont have another device to use so Its not like i can just use another device. I just would like these issues to be fixed because it has been going on for months.

The app used to work perfectely now I can't connect to it, it keeps saying no BB8 detected and I am still using the same device that worked before. This is very frustrating, can you please fix this issue asap! Would have give at least 4 stars but not anymore! Have found out since that BB8's battery is broken so the company I purchased him from is refunding the money, I still get to keep BB8 which is great as he is still a very lovable droid despite him not working as he was designed to do!

One of the worst app ever downloaded, even after years it is still buggy and not fix, unable to connect, black screen, unresponsive, reinstalling wont work. After several many attempts, it may or may not work at all. No point buying this product if app is not working.

Will not work on Samsung Galaxy 10s. It won't let me connect to BB-8. It won't even find it when searching to connect via Bluetooth. I've had this toy since it came out, never had this problem with it before.

Can't use the app on Google Pixel XL Android 10. It gets stuck at the screen warning about app permissions. Can't tap continue button. If I manually add permissions, the app starts on privacy policy page where I can't tap any of the buttons. Please fix. Buttons seem broken.

Why isnt the app connecting anymore ? I've done everything the app suggest to sync bb8 back up and still no connection, the app won't even go passes the loading screen at this point. This is the proper droid for the app , you guys need to fix this issue. I would like my bb8 to still work and not get a desk ornament thank you.

I got a new phone and had to re install the app. I went from a Samsung to a Samsung, and now he just sits there. He doesn't roll, well, except for the first 10 minutes after I installed the app. I had to Uninstall then reinstall. Now he just sits here fully charged according to his base, but does nothing.

Was working fine up until late dec'19/early jan'20. Tried to launch it today ... the app is stuck and freezing at the initializing time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app already no differences. I see the app was updated 3rd,January,2020. My phone is the same (galaxy S9 ) for the past 2 years... so the blame at first gets toward the app itself. Breaking ongoing supportability without even telling consumers ...

Love the toy but the app works like a 3rd of the time. I edited this review so I could say even after they asked me to rate the app I tried to go back to the app and then it froze and then I tried to restart the app and it wouldn't connect. Also it wouldn't connect all night and I had to restart my phone just to get to it in the first place before it asked me to rate it

The app started to not work since beggining of the year, I have tried connecting to BB8 from 3 different mobile phones, all of them are getting stuck at around 35% Initializing.... this is very bad towards Customers, my daughter loved playing with BB 8. You guys must fix this, I wanted to buy the new robot as well, I'm not going to anymore....

horrible experiencd tried three different devices and reset the bb8 but still not able to connect just says no bb8 detected. while iy was good that i brought the force band to connect else it would have been a paper weight. seriously i am not sure how i am going to resolve this.

App worked fine like 2 years ago but now it wont connect at all, stuck on "initializing". BB-8 is fine and charged, no damage, just kept stored for a long time. Why.

Hard to connect and cannot connect without the USB. The app once connected is great and fun, I recommend for anyone, maybe my unit is not functioning correctly.
