BBC America

This app only has current seasons and episodes available. So if you wanted to watch Series 1 of Doctor Who, find another app because this one ain't it. The movie search is severally lacking and hard to use. I was excited about this app but it was a giant let down. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Like many other reviewers have said, the app is very buggy. Doesn't cast to external screens anymore, you can start the program on the app, but if you try to cast it it goes back to a loading screen until it times out. And my personal favourite bug. I'll get a notice that it's stopped running/crashed, when it's not even open or running. I get it regularly, even when I haven't opened the app in months. Finally uninstalled it, hopefully they'll fix it and I can reinstall it.

While its great to be able to see Dr Who, one of BBCs best shows. Its irritating that the app consistantly freezes and shuts off while watching the shows. So you have to reopen the app and wait for it to open slowly. And you have to re-sign in and tell them which provider your using everytime. It takes an hour and a half just watch a 40 minute show. And even when you are not using the app. It is contantly opening and freezing while you are using other apps. BBC never fixes it.

Does anyone have a good experience with this app? It's been years and I've used this at homes all across the US. Tons of ads and every ad takes like 30 seconds to load. I'd think after almost a decade they could figure out how to deliver video content to your eyes without major disruptions, because ya know, it's their business. But this content would be way better off on another platform that already knows how to deliver video effectively.

Or doesn't even have a search box!!! And yes, everybody else is telling the true, it crashes a lot.

Crashes everytime I try to attach a TV provider. Basically no shows. Terrible app.

There's NO live TV. You can"t simply continue a movie from what's playing on BBC America on your cable provider by switching to the phone app. Neither can you search for that movie and watch it by streaming it on demand. There's a movie category in the menu, but only one movie is displayed & it's not the one playing on the BBC America TV network. It offers a search box, but that ALWAYS has zero returns. Nothing, nada, zilch. You can't watch what you are paying to watch through your TV provider.

I have downloaded this app and can start playing videovideo. However, the beginning advert begins, stops, then begins sgain. In addition, when the actual show begins to play, it too stops and begins nd again. After about 3 or so minutes, the video skips right to the end and when I move the slider back to the beginning ... yep, you guessed it ... the entire process begins again.

Logs you out of your cable provider pretty much every time you close the app. Usually crashes once or twice when trying to connect to Xfinity. And holy ads, Batman. UPDATE: it's started to lag like crazy, and the subtitles were broken on the 12/9 episode of Doctor Who. And don't blame the lag on my internet. Downloaded app only because we wanted to watch Killing Eve S3. Right away you know this app has issues. No images load. To log in you have to scroll the entire list of providers in text because you can't view just the common ones because their names are displayed as images. The 2 stars are because we're able to watch S3, but they randomly play ads in the middle of scenes instead of where you'd expect them to be.

The apps functionality is poor at best. Video will stream at lower than 480, turning any show into BBC as presented through Minecraft. You can cast to a device and then your phone and device will simultaneously play the show, not on purpose. Closed captioning will disappear during the commercial break only to return in dual streams layered on top of one another. You can't even blame them and see it works better on one platform versus another. On a Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone same issues.

Works fine. Not sure why it's not working properly for other people. Downloaded it on my S9+, on my home wifi, and I am able to cast and control Doctor who to my TV no problem. I can pause, rewind, etc. I even back in and out of the app while it's playing on my TV.

I used to watch Doctor Who in this app but after a while I wasn't using it so I uninstalled it. Today reinstalled the app after DIRECTV NOW re-branded as AT&T TV. Now I get a blank, white screen when I select AT&T TV from the list of providers. After force stopping the app doing Smart Cleanup, and power cycling my phone, it still does that, so I uninstalled the app. Disappointing.

The whole BBC America online experience is off. You can watch a few episodes of a show on the Android app, the fire TV app only works half the time, but most of the shows are available through a browser. Crazy

Movies and shows are all well and good but live broadcasting is even more rewarding when you're just trying to continue watching your tv in a room without one or if you have to jump in the car really quick and don't want to interrupt your movie. After all, we're paying for the cable service, we're signing in under that provider..... So why don't you let us watch the broadcast? The only two apps I've seen this, as in NOT having LIVE, is AMC and BBC America. Shame.

Right after download, problems started. Got it to watch Top Gear but, sometimes , more often than not , you get 58 mins of just adds. Maybe one day the BBC can get this figured out and their apps will work correctly. The America's have it figured out and have many apps for TV. You can do it BBC !

This app is rather disappointing. The content is lack luster. There are only a handful of shows most of which are Bear Grylls titles. There were only two movies in the movies tab. The only plus is that functionality is easy because of its simple design.

Won't work on phone tv or any tablet. Pretty terrible all the way around. It does manage to load adverts periodically. I guess to both get your hopes up AND make you watch a commercial before it crashes again...

Agree with most of the other reviewers. To say the catalog of shows is meager is a significant overstatement. The search function is practically nonexistent and every other tap brought me to a qr code with a seriously non-helpful error message. It reminded me of the MeTV app in the US - too cheap to care how their viewers actually watch their network. Don't bother with this one until the BBC gets their heads out their you-know-wheres and gets into at least this century, if not this decade.

Would love to give it a zero. App never worked, even after force closing it, restarting my phone & trying again. Keeps giving network error, even though i tried on my home wifi & 4G data plan. Using Samsung S9. Streaming Dr. Who through the website gives poor quality video. Got the app hoping for a better experience since some users reported it worked well for newer phones. Extremely disappointed. 😡 An app at 1.9 average review is ridiculous in 2020, especially for a big ET company. Shame on u!

I have tried to watch one of the new Doctor Who episodes and it has played 16 30-second ads and continues to play ads and will not let me watch the episode. I am extremely upset and do not recommend using this app until this issue is fixed. Overall, this has been an unpleasant experience and had expected better of the BBC.

I was hoping to be able to purchase an in-app subscription like NBC's app seems to be able to do, however, it doesn't. In order to get full access, you HAVE to sign in with a cable/satellite TV account, which I don't have, as I can't remotely afford it. Otherwise, it's a good app.

I usually don't leave reviews but this is ridiculous. I used to watch BBC I player when I was in UK and never have I had multiple play of a same as played over and over only to be stuck in load mode and not actually play the content I'm watching even though I have a TV provider. It's extremely frustrating.

When streaming to Chromecast, if you pause too long it forgets your place to resume. Then it repeats the same commercials a few times when you try to forward to the place you left off - a bit frustrating.

Although I was able to sign in, the App is WORTHLESS. When it finally starts playing a video, it constantly stops, skips freezes.. BBC has always been a premier wildlife educator! Get your ACT TOGETHER WITH THIS APP! You're embarrassing yourself!

Horrible tv app. Not only are they missing A TON of shows from their own provider (doctor who for example which im sure is the only reason people download this) theyre falsly advertising that you can watch their channel live which is completely false there is no where you can watch live in this app. And the shows they do have they have very limited episodes on. They have a total of 14 shows 6 of which have more then 10 episodes only two of which go past 25 and neither are a popular show.

videos won't load, ever. the little dial just spins endlessly. trying to cast to Chromecast, and it shows the bbc logo on the TV as though the app is successfully casting, but since the video never loads, I'm unable to watch anything.

My cable provider (WOW / Knology) was not to be found, even on the extended list, so I could never get past the first step. Too bad, because I like BBC America. App is close, but not quite ready for prime time.

App keeps stopping and closing in the middle of a feed. Every time it does, it kicks me out and I have to log back in. It has taken me almost three hours to watch a 1 hour show! Unacceptable.
