Beam – Interactive Streaming

After a recent update, you can no longer see the time when you position your cursor on the progress time. So, it became a chore to skip through. Play/Stop button may disappear forcing you to reload the video. And, of course, the app will forget where you last left it. Currently Mixer servers in Europe are a mess. Impossible to watch anything. My bandwidth on my phone and PC is more than sufficient; plus everything worked fine for a week. Now I have to wait 5 seconds of buffering for 2 seconds of stream. Unwatchable. Also, for some reason you cannot modify the quality of videos. Forcing you to watch in highest quality. Which wasn't a problem until now.

I've been using the app for some weeks. Unreliable service so far. I'm not sure if it's the app or Mixer's service, but I experience lag and video freezing up frequently. Restarting the app sometimes helps. Also it doesn't let me resume, which can be annoying. I find it strange that the app can't be used in horizontal mode except when watching video. On the positive side: it's not swamped with advertisements. I might give the app a few more chances because of that.

Displays a great quality stream but there's work to be done. The problem is that the Mixer app is not available on the Fire Stick (yes I know they're a competitor) but this means the convenience of watching on the couch takes a hit. Nothing beats a remote control in hand. I was willing to overlook that and I was able to cast to my Chromecast from my phone but once I did, I got a ton of lag spikes which made watching a stream unbearable.

Certain things I don't like about the UI but the app is very polished. I feel like there's too much emphasis on "discovering" new people to watch, when I open the app it shouldn't take me a solid 30 seconds to check if my favorites are live. A lot more little niche things that are annoying but that comes with anything, it's not gonna please everyone but I enjoy the platform a lot.

The app is alright. Don't get me wrong. But how they are trying to REMOVE the app on the xbox one upsets me to no end. Bringing it to just the home screen is a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Chat doesn't stay up long enough to read. When I type a message, it blocks the screen, and it's not easy AT ALL to navigate. If i could've rated it on the xbox, i would have, but there's not even a page for it. So, I'm rating the Xbox version here, mostly. As for this mobile app, my issue is delayed feed ALL the time

A few bugs. When streams are in full screen it will freeze every once in a while. (This happens on desktop version too) There's not a lot of navigational freedom in the app. There's only trending, following, and profile. If you want to go to "games" "browse" or anything of the like, too bad, you'll have to search it and type it all in manually. Kinda annoying. They definitely oversimplified it.

The app is great, the only way I can stream; since my only up to date technology is my xbox (but even it barely keeps up). If your chrome or other browsers are out of date don't even try to use the website. It is not backward compatible and will drive you insane with frames that overlay content, settings, and your own channel. There is an occasional bug after hosting another channel where the audio sticks after moving to a new channel; requires a restart of mixer to fixer.

up until this most recent update this app was fantastic. it had a few errors with streams freezing and chats deleting after you sent them, but overall a good experience as these happened rarely. however, after the most recent update, it has turned to utter garbage. it crashes every 5-10 minutes (consistently) and if it does let you boot it back up it black screens until you restart it. it also has horrible frame drop and freezing issues that weren't there prior. as of right now, abysmal service.

The app feels very laggy and unresponsive. The slide gesture to close a stream doesn't work most of the times, but it scales the stream up instead. Also the buttons don't work with the first tap and when I switch from one tab to another, from "Trending" to "Profile" for example, it keeps switching back and forth by itself. The overall app is good, it looks very simple and minimalistic without annoying stuff everywhere, but the only problem is the buttons and their responsiveness.

I like it, the only thing that would make it better is more resolution options. I dont have the best service in the world and the lowest resolution available is 720p. Xfinity mobile does not let you stream 720p. More of a personal issue but other video apps give you those additional options. Still It is perfect on wifi. I love mixer and find it way better than twitch so of course I'll deal with it.

Everything is more complicated than it needs to be. Menus are tucked away and difficult to find in some situations. The search tools don't find relavent results or any results in some cases which is kinda baffling really. Also and this is the biggest issue, I can't get the app or mobile website to stream live content. It will only play pre-recorded content.

Everything runs smoothly for me. No crashes at all. If my internet acts up, obviously there's going to be a small time of buffering. Only thing I would love if they added is a ten second rewind or forward button when watching past streams. It's so hard trying to skip forward from an intro or to go back to see a gameplay using the scroll bar.

Although you allow streamers to stream at a higher bitrate I really don't understand how I can't watch 1080p when I have 250Mbps down (20 - 25 times the required amt assuming the stream bitrate is 10000). The problem is especially prominent on mobile. Also on your web interface the full-screen toggle is bugged, I have to click multiple times for it to work sometimes. The good part is the picture quality (on the rare occasions I am actually able to watch at the highest quality without buffering).

its not horrible, but it definitely can use some serious streamlining and a few fixes. sometimes if you close your phone or reopen the app it simply breaks (something twitch doesn't do) and also I dislike how my favorite/followed channels are not shown at the start screen, but instead I have to click and load a separate tab to even see them. It would be helpful to update to fix or make these better.

I am not new to Mixer, but I am new to game streaming in general. I own an Xbox, so having this app is the perfect companion to an already owned account with Mixer. From my perspective, and from my phone, this app is perfect. The streaming? Perfect! I even tested it by going to my channel while playing a game or two on my Xbox. No delay or lag whatsoever. Truly, I am impressed.

Overall a decent product, that is a positive platform for streaming and watching. Isues I have: Crashes can be frustrating and sometimes live chat doesn't appear, and requires a restart. There should always be an option to drop to 368P to avoid high data usage for phone plans that don't have unlimited plans. Should have the ability to watch two streams at once, when on a higher bandwidth like via wifi. VOD's are missing chat on App. VOD's sometimes do not play or get stuck spinning.

There are some certain bugs that pop up every now and again, but aside from that, this app has become very wonderful and easy to use. The bugs in question mainly apply to my phone in particular (LG V30+ ThinQ), because of the screen having some issues. Wonderful application, amazing support, and easily one of the most well put-together apps out there for watching streams on your mobile device!

It's a decent app. During a game it's easy to start a stream. This makes it easy for teammates to help each other by showing what you have going on rather than trying to describe it. It opens easily on the Xbox. The basic controls work well.There are many controls that you can only use on a PC. Simple things like saving your stream for later viewing. The 10 to 20 second lag that always exist on the new version has got to get fixed. Give us the option to use FTL and search for games being played

With my experience being with both xbox mixer and mobile i feel like it does a pretty good job for what its suppose to be. To keep it short, its an amazing app the only things that it should work on is showing who viewers are for the people streaming and to fix the occasional freezing of the app. lastly, to clarify it does show who is watching but it doesn't always work, i feel like you should know who is watching just like when you get a notification for a new follower.

This app has some serious performance issues. I have a top of the line phone and fast data speeds and yet this app struggles to load a basic stream. It seems like streams are always black and pages take forever to load. I also use the Mixer app on Xbox and it works great on there. They just need to fix the mobile app.

Better than Twitch! I knocked a star for one super important aspect. Trying to load your own link or someone elses link always results in a browser rather than the app coming up. This triggers Mixer to think you don't have the app and that you need to download it, thus sending you to the store page for no reason. In the middle of this dance, you lose the page you were trying to visit in the first place. Pushing your link via social media is crucial for getting viewers and followers. Fix!!

What I like on Mixer is that you have got an individual profile level on every streamer. The longer you've been watching a streamer, the higher your level will be. This gives you an indication about loyal people and newcomers etc. The overall experience is perfect as well. I'd like to see the option of a pop-out mode where you can watch the stream in the background whilst doing other things on your phone. Love it!

Mixer, overall, is a good streaming platform. I've met pleanty of fun personalities on the site already. I just wish it was more stable. What I mean by that is that I constantly find myself losing connection to the streams i'm watching even if I have perfect connection to my router. (This problem only occures on mobile from my experience.) I don't know if it's client side or not, I do know it's irritating. But! If Mixer manages to smooth out some bumps in the future, expect 5 starts!

I love the low latency and the "chat only" options while I'm broadcasting. But the app always resets to video when you swap out of the app which is really annoying. You ALWAYS have to re-select "chat only". The app doesn't save your channel's settings and preferences (like channel rating). It also inexplicably only broadcasts pause mode sometimes. Mixer requires lots of double checking.

I originally gave this a much higher rating, but after a year of use and increasingly few options for a streamer that doesn't own a PC, I can't recommend this if you stream on a console. You are AUTOMATICALLY locked to an 18+ age rating and there is currently no way to change it, you have very few options to adjust your settings, create anything more than the most basic of profile options, don't have any audio options, and very many other problems I can't describe because of word limits here.

Quite frankly I'm having problems with watching either a past stream and live streams. The problem is that when I watch just about 30 seconds of either it starts to do the lovely spin wheel and I have to wait 2 to 3 minutes till it starts again and then the cycle continues on. I also know it's not my internet connection. Personally believe that it is something with the entire app on mobile and on Xbox. Mixer if you could please resolve this issue as it ruins my experience, and others.

App is average. It works. Came here for ninja. App doesnt allow pop out, so if I close my screen it stops all together. I like to go audio only while commuting w phone in my pocket. Also, app freezes streams, ALOT. could be signal issues but does it a lot on wifi. The "auto" quality never switches it just freezes. Streams will also freeze and not come back. Must force close the app and reload to get it back.
