Beam Smart Remote

This app used to work great. It no longer functions. The app must be reset in order to connect to the remote. Then when it does, the connect button does nothing and the right arrow goes over to the blank programming screen. This has been a great remote. However it's useless if you can't program it! You guys need to get this fixed! Otherwise it's just a fancy paper weight.

This app actually used to work great. A year ago, I would have given both the remote & app 5★'s. Now, it gets 1★ (only because I can't go lower & give it a 0) due to it's now catastrophically broken programming menu within, which is required to program/pair the remote. Normally, the programming menu would contain different device types that, when selected, would pair your remote to that device. Since none of the pairing options load, the remote can't be paired through the app anymore. 🚫🚫

Loved the remote when it worked properly. But two things: 1) brand new alkaline batteries and the remote buttons don't work unless they are pressed over and over again for 30 seconds, then 30 seconds later they will flash and actually let you use the buttons. 2) when syncing with the app, it connects but the step after it will say "Login has expired" and won't let you get further into the app. This remote I bought brand new a couple years back and it has been well taken care of.

It works... After awhile It took a few times before it paired. After that, it wasn't too bad. It doesn't always recognize manual programming. There's no way to program an Eject button and no codes for the PS4 video player. The first time I programmed Volume Lock, it disabled the Roku programming. Took several tries to get that back. Then they both worked. Activity buttons refuse to work. There's a button in the middle of them that serves no purpose. Replaced 3 remotes, though.

Tried this app on 3 devices. It connected on 2 of them, but it wouldn't let me access any controls or programming. Then it stopped connecting. So, yeah, pretty much worthless. I hope they release a fix, but I won't hold my breath. If an air mattress needed patched this badly, I'd probably just buy a new one. But hey, the remote itself works pretty well as a normal, dumb universal remote... Update: The remote actually does connect better now. But it still gives the "Get device data failed" error.

Needed a new remote that I could program multiple functions onto a single button, which this does just fine. All programmed functions worked just fine, BUT I had to manually input everything because I couldn't ever get the remote to pair up with my LG V30. I tried for over an hour, downloaded, re-download, tried and tried again and again, but it never paired. The remote is very nice and works very well. THE APP SUCKS!

I was able to pair with the remote but the app could not connect to it. UPDATE - I've been able to connect to the remote but the app seems to have limited functions. You can't actually program the remote with the app. You can only select how you want the activities and 4 custom buttons to work. It's getting better. Has been a pretty good remote otherwise.

The Beam App does not show any devices to program. The app consistently states: "Get Device Data Failed. The Programming menu only has 2 menus to select from: Activities and Custom Buttons. I had to resort to code list programming. I lost the code list and I was not able to find it on the website. The only reason I did not return this is because I lost the receipt. The good thing is if you program it once most of the buttons work. It is very confusing. I wish I could reprogram all of the buttons because they do not work like the they state . Don't buy the remote if you expect it to be easy to program using an Android phone, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy note 8. The remote does have a loud locate beep. Save your money and get any competitor for a few dollars more with an app that works. This remote was on sale for cheaper than the "One For All". I have the "One For All" and its app does work. Id leave no stars if I could for Beam.

I hate giving apps bad reviews. As a programer I know how hard it is to make these apps and get them to work with endless amounts of different hardware. The reason I rated this one star is because it doesn't connect to the remote. My phone can see it and I can connect through bluetooth settings, but even then the app doesn't see the connection. My kids lose the remote constantly, and the 'Find my Remote' function is why I bought it. If i could open an app and hit a button to find my remote, I would rate it 10 stars.

Great remote. Terrible app. Like most people, I got this FATASTIC remote for $5 on clearance at Walmart. It feels premium and works great. I love the feature that allows me to control my TV, sound bar and apple tv without switching inputs. This app is supposed to give you an easy way to load codes to the remote. This feature does not work. There is also a "find remote" feature that works well though. Long story short, buy the remote, program it with the included code list, skip the app.

I tried everything to get the app to work with the remote. Nothing. I saw in other comments where it worked after a few months. Idk how it fixed itself for others. I'll again in a few months. My phones Bluetooth menu recognized the remote but the app didn't. Sad because as a stand alone universal remote it is great. I can control my Xbox one and TV at the same time.

This app does not work. The app won't pair with the remote. I could pair with it in the settings but even then the app can't tell you are paired. Glad I only paid $5 on clearance for it. Update: I just programed the activities directors phone to work with it. I couldn't get the phone to program codes in the remote but the "find my remote" function works and that's all we need for the memory care unit. Her phone is six years old.

Everything worked with code list except 4k Roku Stream Stick. Which i use the Roku for everything so pretty much pointless to have new remote. The app does not work at all cuz it will not find my phone's bluetooth ( galaxy S9+). Although my phone found it right away and wouldn't connect. It needs to have a pairing mode. And manually program did not work either. So 2 stars until this is fixed.

App doesn't work, I get an error saying "Get device data failed". The only thing on the app that is working is the "find my remote" function, everything else does not work and I had to program the remote manually, which was very difficult to do. I attempted to contact customer support, but they were no help, they didn't understand me, and they didn't care about the issue, they were completely useless. So, yeah, I got a product that is partially useless. I'm very disappointed. Please fix it!!!

App is pure trash. Don't even bother downloading it. The only working feature is the find my remote. If you leave the app running your phone will pop up error messages every 30 seconds or so. I also got it for 5 dollars on clearance. I'm hoping it is worth the effort of using codes. But using the app it isn't even worth 5 dollars. This is obviously abandoned so if you want a smart remote, don't get this one. Guess I'll go program codes in manually.

Disappointing. Tried the app with 3 different phones and each time will connect but says get device info failed so can't use the app to set up. I am assuming if you can use the app to set up the remote will work better... Still have to use multiple remotes because only controls a few things on my TV and no support for my Spectrum cable box.

Unable to connect to remote on my pixel 2xl. You can find it on the phones Bluetooth settings, but the app can't see it. Maybe they have limited phone models they test with, and haven't realized that the app isn't working with many phones. I will try with a different phone and update if I can get it to work.

There is no way to use this app to program the remote. The options necessary (IE, TV, Audio, SAT/CBL) do not even appear in the list. You will need to do it manually - use the code on the website to get started, but most buttons will have to be copied from the original remote. I wound up returning the remote.

For a long time, this app gave me the data error, but I happened to decide to try it today to program my remote for a second-have Blu-ray player that didn't have a remote. For the first time, it connected and loaded the device codes. Now that it works, the app is a great way to program a remote.

Great idea, horrible app. It barely ever connects to the remote and the interface is just the absolute worst thing ever. The remote works fine just don't ever lose it because you won't be able find it using the app. This app needs a major update before its any good. Until then, avoid downloading it

This app was pretty cool until it stopped working. Horrible app! Doesn't connect most of the time, and is a gamble wheather or not it will work the next time i need to call it up. I was going to buy more beam remotes from walmart, but changed my mind. Device is too power hungry, eating a set of four batteries a month. Since most of the stuff you do with this thing resides on this stupid app, I think I'll just throw this remote away and get something that actually works.

Connect to phone hard, disappointed in app. Trick when it will not connect to phone. Do not connect via blue tooth. But make sure on. Let the app do it. Love find remote and connecting 3 devices for one button. But no way to look up codes not in paper list. Was expecting more from app. Once I was able to get my phone to connect to the remote.

I bought this remote last year and everything was fine. Now since the last update my remote is not able to connect to the app to let me do anything. If I could I would rate this as zero stars. Before I was able to check app if I had low battery or find my remote but now nothing works not even connecting the app

Don't bother with Joseph's rude review...or anyone else saying it works. It's not people are too stupid to follow directions as he said, but the app is simply broken. You can follow the directions all day, and the app is still worthless!! It cannot find the device, even when you pair the remote outside of the app & try the search again. Cannot get anything else in the app, but the hypnosis animation and either it tells you it failed to find a device or it freezes.

Doesn't even allow me to program the remote I have to do that through the mile long code list. (Update).....Keeps giving a (get device data failed) message and now wont even let me find my remote. None of the codes worked had to manually program each button for three seperate remotes.(update 2) uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. now it wont find my remote at all.

Halfway works. Finally was able to connect it to my tv but it only powered it on and off and we could use volume controls but it would not switch inputs no matter what we did. Returning ASAP. Looking at what it says it can do vs. What it actually does are 2 completely different things.

IR learning is half working, RXA soundbar codes are not working, and the app gives a data error upon opening so I can not access Devices programming, only activities which is useless without programming options. So far, it's only an additional remote instead of a multi device remote. Reached out to customer service and have not heard back. Pretty disappointed.

This remote is horrible!! My husband bought it to replace the TV remote for our smart TV by Westinghouse. It literally took me hours to program. The app was useless...didn't work with any of our devices. I was sitting on couch and suddenly we had rented a movie on VUDU for $7 without touching the remote. I called and got a refund, took batteries out and am on the way to return it.

More than worthless. You may waste several hours of your life trying to use it. I literally tried all 3 options and then some. None of the provided codes from beam's list worked for my vizo tv. Using vizio's list from the web the beam took some codes as valid but none actually worked. I tried the app using both suggested ways (by brand,by cloud) neither worked. I was able to use the app to id several buttons on the original remote but it never found a valid code. Even tried"when all else fails".

Horrible, tells you that your paired then its not. When you are the app does absolutely nothing. The only way to program is the use of device codes or manually through a bunch of convoluted series of button pushing. As for the remote itself i am returning. Not worth the hassle...
