Do people not realize that phones are little computers and just because you think *you didn't install it, you don't need or want it* let me trekking you that you're just being ignorant. Go to to your PC and open your task manager, click on system processes and end explorer, let me know how your computer works after that. Your whole desktop will disappear, all because you ended something you didn't install.
All I have read it most ppl slating this app. And saying they never asked to have it on their phones. There is a lot of app's that are pre installed when purchasing any phone. And I guarantee that most ppl wouldn't know what to do with out most pre installed app's. Just for some people's ranting about this app= green button above that says "uninstall" you may want to try pressing it. As for me I don't use the app or know anything about it. But I do know I would uninstall an app just as it gives you the option to, instead of stressing over it.
The amount of ignorance being spewed against this app is just absurd. It takes up practically no memory, doesn't run unless you are using it, if you don't use it, just ignore it. Or buy a stock android. The ability to scan Samsung screens is a huge differentiator between Samsung and the competition. "I can't believe Samsung wants us to have Samsung software on a Samsung phone!!!" lol give me a break.
thankyou samsung for giving us inovative technology with practical uses. love having all my loyalty cards in Samsung pay (and they actually work) those complaining need to get with the time, or go to iPhone and wait another 5 years before the tech is copied and rebranded.
I had this Beaming app, & it along with Gear VR Service, KNOX & Voice Recorder were draining my battery. I saw an uninstall button in the Google Play Store, I jumped for it. For a while it no longer showed in the list of apps in my phone settings, then like a bad penny from the devil, it came back. If only, I could uninstall the all these turd apps.
It is a battery draining Ghost in the Shell App. It is installed in the phone, and it steals need energy from other apps on my phone, but it never shows up in the app. listings. It is hiding in the memory just being a tick in the system draining the battery. Samsung should not be an idiot and have ghost apps that drain the battery life in the phone. It is just as bad the Galaxy Note 7 exploding.
Unsafe...laid my phone on top of my wallet & the setting popped up to scan a tag or to use the samsung fitness app. I've never even used this app, but I'm hoping simply uninstalling here, will avoid it reading any future tags/debit/credit cards. Something you guys should consider/look into if you haven't already!
FOR THOSE COMPLAINING: This is a system app. It cannot be opened, as it does nothing by itself. You need another app to use the features provided by this app, for example Samsung Pay. When you use your grocery store card in Samsung Pay and it shows you the barcode for the card, it is using this app. You know when your using this by the blue led flashing at the top of your device. The only reason this app shows up in the apps menu in your phones settings is so that it can be updated often instead of only when Samsung pushes software updates. Try this, in app settings, select the "Show System Apps" option under the menu at the top right corner. Now you will see a bunch of system apps that are required in oder for your phone to function correctly. Still not convinced, let me try another way to explain. This app is like your webcam driver (software) on your computer. The driver does nothing by itself, but it just allows other software that you would install to use the webcam on your computer. So all this app does is allow other developers to make apps that would use some barcode emulation hardware that is already in your phone.
There is a video for this app that go to youtube. . This a app to reading Barcode on your shopping mall. . You my need like if you put your credit card. .. you unistal delete this up it waist of time. . I will keep it for 2 more moth after good by app I do this you readers can understand
Any app that forces itself on you, restricts your ability to control it (such as disable, let alone uninstall), and continues to expand space, is not a good app. It's a dictator. Furthermore, I ended up resetting phone because it seemed that there was an ever expanding list of apps attached to it that had very questionable data usage, settings, and shady configurations.
To the people that are calling "ignorant" to those of us that don't care for this app: This is a phone App, not a computer program...very different, and if that's your believe, then you need to be educated in the matter. There's a reason why after so many decades of mobile phones, computers are still the ones that we come home to, and work with industrially. You're comparing a Car with a Skateboard. Bottom line, if Samsung really wanted this service, it would have merged it into the actual system, (like the NFC) and not as an recognized individual App, so that people that don't know and are actually ignorant in the matter, don't get confused and can choose whatever beaming service they wish to.
Don't even know what it is for. But can't delete it. Don't use it. For the people thinking that it is truely useful for their loyalty cards good for you. I already had an app for that. And it worked fine. I don't let my phone pay or send information. I feel like Samsung is turning into apple which just means I am going to have to find another phone maker
First of pre installed and it is being used when not used and ever hmmm so with all the hype about privacy issues doesn't anyone find it rather odd this app is even included in our apps? Lets see permission requires camera, and others that if you've noticed your phone keeps a whole lot of information on your entire life that 90%you didn't even know anything about. Seems like this is another like that glashlight app that was secretly keeping your entire private life backed up incase ever needed by anyone goverment etc to get access to. Just food for thought....
To all the people saying things about this app. Samsung phones and or softwere. If you dont like buy stock google device instead.otherwise shut your traps. Thank you i use many of samung products beacuse i like they way they work. But thats just me.other people use apple or lg or BlackBerry or excetra.
Why can't I disable this thing? I've never used anything that uses beaming service, yet it constantly kills my battery. Already, it's used 13% since the last full charge and I've never even used anything that would need to access it. This is ridiculous. Along with Gear VR Service, which I can't disable either, these 2 things alone have used 28% of my battery since last full charge. So how do I stop this thing from continually killing my battery? This is just plain aggravating.
It doesn't show in apps list (so cannot activate) + you still need another app. Yes, I MIGHT have had use for it ONCE, but it is useless in many countries and therefore should be removable / not be pre-installed.
Incandescent people, please read: This app can now be installed. The Play store fixture now also has a short, concise video explaining exactly what this app does. Imo, this app is actually v. useful for those attempting to go cardless. But if you disagree, you are now free to delete the app and not bother about it again. (Until the next Samsung Android update at least!)
Samsung has sold their souls in my opinion. If you're going to go on complaining about bloatware or privacy issues get a different type of phone that was created a certain someone who is not with us anymore unfortunately. Any of you who complain about Samsung have no room to do so as you're holding one in your hand. Lol
Some of you people that are giving poor reviews of this pre-installed app, need to look into this a little or should I say a lot more. It's not draining your battery, if you look at what uses up most battery and space on your device, you might be surprised at what you find. I can just about guarantee that it is not this, that states it actually stays dormant, unless asked to be used by another app. You'll be surprised at what you do use this without even thinking about it. It makes numerous of your other apps run properly. Dig into your device information and keep up the maintenance on it. I think you will be satisfied afterwards. Thanks....
Is it so hard to understand? Here is not the question whether I like the app or not, whether it's good or not. It is about forcing me to have something I don't want. For my own money - I bought a phone, not app's Simple as that - you have the mark 2.9. And it will continue: fot every app at every phone I will automatically give 1. Nice for Samsung reputation, nice for a company to have pi***ed customers.
people complaining of "forcing" are hilarious. this app is just a few KB and allow the screen to be "beeped" at cashiers (for shop cards, if you store them in an app, i do.) on the total amount of memory is IRRELEVANT given apps like whatsapp and facebook are happily doenloaded which sniff and share your contacts and activities. for istance FB requires MB, not KB, and whatsapp stores everything on your device, eating up storage, PLUS privacy issues. complaining that samsung "forces" you with this app is like complaining about samsung "forcing you" to have auto-brightness or choosing android. "i just want the phone, right!!!??" people talk just for the sake of it. "consumers" are often too stupid to get a grasp.
This app is terrible it has used 38% of my battery since fully charged in the past 2 hours! If they keep forcing these dumb apps I'm going to go back to apple or find a phone that doesn't come with a bunch of junk bloatware! My phone feels like it could catch fire it's so hot and it won't let me disabled or remove this app!
Invasive, a slap in the face to trusting customers who think privacy and respect in exchange for the consumers interest or loyalty is something that should be expected, it's unfortunate that Samsung plays with the devils that dictate and control without our knowledge or consent the level of privacy we should have. It's sad that for a small price or no price at all every part of our lives can be shared regardless of how much we invested in our phones, if we the consumers were respected we would have simple and clear on and off selections on our devices,,,,,,,time to be more cautious about who we can trust and what level of respect is really provided by those we invest our funds and trust in
I've just read the last 50 or so reviews. Whether or not I agree with any of it, most of them are negative for whatever reason. However, the review highlights don't mention anything negative. I'm sure having someone go through every review is impossible or at least to costly. Just makes me think Google and Samsung are attempting to shift things to favor them at our expense. What happened to go old honesty.
