Pretty good once you tweak some settings. The built-in OGG loading compensation was screwing with the note sync of my ZiV simfiles and it took way too long to figure that out, as my newer phone doesn't suffer from OGG loading lag like older ones did. It'd be a good idea to have a sync test when you first launch the app so that users can turn this setting on or off.

Very fun rhythm game! Only 3 songs are available on the app itself, but you can download more from the 'net. You can also adjust to your preferred settings. WARNING: Some songs have much louder audio than what the phone says, so be careful & turn the volume down.

Im going to preface this by saying that I am trash at rhythm games. I usually uninstall them after a few minutes because they're not fun for me. However, this one was an exception. It was definitely hard, but actually enjoyable. It had good songs instead of the same pop mixes you find in every other music tap game. And on top of all that, it was easy to navigate, AND you didn't have to pay to access all the songs! Minimal ads, and great graphic design. This game is one that 5/5.

The delay timer isn't adjusting correctly with my taps. Whenever I adjust it i dont or hardly notice a difference. I've reinstalled this a few times and at one point it was perfect, but the delay between the song best and the tap is too great. I like playing where the best and the tap are exactly the same, but I cannot figure out how to set it this way. Please help

This is actually a really well mobile version of DDR/Beat Mania. Everything is responsive the style of DDR translates over well onto mobile devices. One kinda big problem I have is the placement of the combo score. It's right in the center of the screen, covering up some of the arrows in the two middle rows which can make things annoying to deal with. Other than that though, this is really good!

Great to have stepmania on mobile but be aware there are many settings to adjust. I personally adjusted the mp3 offset along with my input offset (both are 0.0) for the best experience (for me at least). Also, please be aware that when you download a beatmap pack they take up a lot of storage. Other than those two things everything else is self explanatory and the app is very fun and nostalgic.

As an avid fan of the PC version of this, I was so happy to find a mobile alternative. I would have given it 5 stars, but I had a lot of issues with trying to calibrate the delay before the levels were playable. I did eventually figure it out (I set the OGG delay to 0), but it was mildly annoying. Other than that, gameplay was great and there's plenty of really challenging songs to improve your skills toward. Would totally reccomend if you're a fan of classic rhythm games.

Cool game, but involved when it comes to accessing songs, but doable if you really want to. More to add; So after playing for a while have noticed that almost all of the downloaded songs from step mania and all in challenge mode and you are unable to change difficulty, and I am sorry, but most of them aren't even worth trying to play on challenge as it's too ridiculous for beginners or intermediate. Wish the songs were available with a medium or even hard so I at least have a chance.

Updating my rating to 5 after solving my corrupt song issue. I'm an old stepmania guy, and I can tell how much effort they put into this game. Being able to tweak settings like orientation, arrow speed, timing, overlap, swipe, and others is key. I thought it would just be a novelty and never truly like the keyboard version but I was wrong. There are clever ways to swipe and hit doubles with one tap which makes difficult keyboard songs possible with two thumbs on a touch screen. Totally awesome.

So I downloaded this and played with my fingers, loved it. Then I turned on my bluetooth controller (ps4) . Now I cant stop playing. I bought a fanny pack to carry my controller around so I can always play. The delay is finicky but it is extremely fixable in the settings. Also some maps are done horribly. Speaking of which, you can just download stepmania songs for the game it's so easy. I have thousands of songs and it only took an hour of time to collect them. This is the most fun app.

"A Portable Stepmania" I actually installed this before and was initially turned off by the Settings. But due to COVID-19 Lockdown, I got a lot of time on my hands and was able to finally understand the Settings. It's not bad at all! In fact, I was impressed! It's like having Stepmania that's readily available in your pocket! It even allows you to load Simfiles and play them! Please add the option for an arrow layout similar to a PC keyboard's U-D-L-R arrows. Thank you!

Great game, plays well, doesn't take up too much space. But it runs ads, and ask you to buy a full version for all features. This is a port of a PC game called Stepmania. Stepmania, and all it's add-ons (songs, skins, etc.) are 100% free. But Beatx has delays before songs and runs ads in the menu, encouraging you to buy the full version. Game works great, but it should be free like the software it's based on.

It's amazing! The only problem I had was note skins not working. It is okay though, the default one is good already so it will stay 5 stars. Unlike other mobile rhythm games, it let's you download songs and play them instead of the preset weird songs most other games have. There are barely any ads and it seems like the dev(s) actually put heart into this and didn't just make one of those ad-infested games. I love it, and I'm probably buying the full version soon.

This is pretty impressive via touchscreen once you get the syncing figured out. Edit: after a while I noticed the sound always switches itself back on after closing / reopening the app, and I don't mean the menu bgm which stays off. That God awful applause sound when you've bested an old score stays on no matter what you do, which is compounded by the game forgetting what your actual high score in some songs resulting in ear-r-... violation... at the end of every song.

The game itself is well done and I use it to keep up my reading ability. The reason for 3 stars is I paid to remove the rather annoying delay when you load a song, but if you don't have an active data connect it adds back the delay. I get DRM but that's just stupid, especially having the "buy the full version" button when I already have.

This app has a problem extracting large music pack files which is very inconvenient. Other than that obvious flaw I can't overlook how much fun it is to play. The calibration settings works really well and the fact I can get a hold of my favorite music packs in a convenient way, makes this another awesome rhythm game I can add to my collection.

This is one of the best rhythm games I've played. I have two suggestions though. One would be an endless mode for songs it having a leaderboard based on how long you can last. The second suggestion would be an option to get a song (or make one) and charting it (with an option to keep private or for download) and song testing but here is a 5/5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟

Game doesnt sense when you tap fast, which is bad cause alot of hard songs are fast. Plus, theres6notes that are literally impossible to play. A regular note inbetween hold downs especially at fast speeds. And the fact you have to pay 3 dollars to fix the issues just yells greedy. I do not reccomend the game to be used to get better at rhythm games.

Chr. D. Sep 14, 2018

I like the game and concept, but I feel like I'm just button mashing through songs and finger positions are awkward for touch screen, where as with games like Deemo/cytus it feels "fluid". I know they are different styles, but, its not much fun for me to basically just hit all 4 arrows at nearly the same time through a whole song.

Kev. C. Apr 17, 2019

This is the best SM clone I've played so far! The controls are great, the delays are customizable (something most SM/DDR clones fail to include) and all the simfiles I like work perfectly with it. The difficulty selector also isn't limited to 4 difficulties like some, it reads each simfile's own difficulties like it should. So far the only issue I have is that every now and then when I quit or finish a song, the song's play button is automatically pressed against my will, until I force close it

bxg. May 2, 2021

I love this game. It's singleplayer and offline, looks good, free and also you can import your own music (if it exists as a simfile). Would be 5 stars but my only concern is the fact that the notes don't sync with speakers, only with headphones. Please fix this. I synced delay multiple times but it still doesn't work.

Thought I would be disappointed because the app looked a little ugly, and everything else on the play store is gimmicky garbage, but this turned out great, especially with the native support for importing online song packs. Also was surprised that my Bluetooth keyboard worked as a gamepad for keybindings. This is by far the best app for any stepmania players who are looking for a mobile alternative.

This is quickly becoming my favourite way to play Stepmania. Very fully featured, thought out, and performant, even on my old Galaxy Tab 3. Going full-on four-finger landscape mode on my tablet is what I practiced finger-drumming on my desks in school my whole childhood for. No matter what you expect from this, you're most likely gonna leave a happy camper. Full keyboard and pad support were something that was 100% not necessary and seems to make no sense, but the dev thought out practically every edge case. I'm seriously impressed. With a UI redesign and better branding, this could totally compete with the other AAA rhythm games on the Play Store, because the mechanics are totally there. Classic VSRG fans need look no further.

sil. m. Sep 6, 2019

I would have given it a 5 star if you add a new tapbox touch layout which is a two sets of directional buttons (left and right) for landscape mode. I've been looking forward to it for many years already. I would buy it for sure if this feature is granted. I'm sure many are looking for it too. Will this be added to the next update please?

This game helps me review and practice ddr charts before i put credits in the cabinet, its an invaluable tool for all ddr players! 9/19/2018 - Latest update I've been having issues with the app crashing at opening, and during song selection. sometimes the song will cut out during play and misalign with the chart. Please review and fix. Thanks!

this is an exceptional mobile rhythm game! as a pc rhythm gamer with my pc out of comission, this is a great replacement for my obsession! its all very familiar to pc versions, making a comfortable substitute. my only issue that keeps me from a 5-star is the tapping controls. since i play this on a phone, restricting my taps to the middle on the arrows causes my wrist to cramp up. i was hoping if maybe there can be an option to have tile taps, where the entire screen is sectioned into 4 parts?

Nice mechanics. Howerver playing songs from one' device is hard. After figuring out how to make my songs appear on the unfamiliar selection screen, i had to initialise the song. A two minute song was left initialising for 5 minutes and it nevee stopped. There was no loading animation or cance button so i have no idea if the initialising was glitched or the game froze.
