* News: Thousands of Android apps fail to validate SSL certificates ***
US CERT has recently identified about 3,400 Android apps to date that do not properly validate SSL certificates, leaving them open to Man in the Middle (MITM) attacks. Possible outcomes are credential stealing or arbitrary code generation. Use the Belarc Security Advisor to automatically check to see if you have any of these vulnerable apps._________________________________________________________________________________

Move into the 21st century of computer security. Signature based methods such as anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-spyware offered good enough security in the past, but today many attacks are not stopped by these methods. One reason is because the threats change faster than the anti-virus or malware signatures can be updated. Security experts say that the best way to achieve security is to make sure your installed apps and operating system are not vulnerable to attacks or malicious software.

Belarc's Security Advisor does this by automatically checking your Android tablet or phone for thousands of security vulnerabilities in both the operating system and installed apps, and gives you the result in seconds as to which ones are vulnerable and need to be updated. The Security Advisor also works with all other security apps such as anti-virus and anti-malware apps.

I love Belarc for my PC and use it religiously to document complete OS + Software installs, including hotfixes & KBs, patches and drivers etc, as well as missing items that need updating. The fact that this existed for Android was AWESOME....5+ years ago, but the definitions are NOT maintained and haven't been updated since 2016! Hate this, but each of my emails to Belarc have gone unanswered. So don't count on this app to provide you with bonfide, current protective scans.....it is outdated!

This product I know well been using of for several year's and gives you the broad view is your entire system and has links for suggested updates, patch's and fixes. Mobile version still a little new but there all about security's and holes in your operating system and Network. They also have other software for IT people in or out of business's of all kinds. 👍

Also available for PC. Unabashedly analyses & lists total o.s. & app vulnerabilities. Raises questions & problems not answers. You're plunged into Darkness. It does not take into account third party fixes. Some manufacturers update O.S. monthly. Some nothing. No 1:1update linkage with Belarc. Infrequent updates. Good news: Google updates apps frequently. Don't be paranoid. Hope remains. Fixes happen. Rescan. NO vulnerabilities. And then the Dawn.

This brand of utility is used by the military on their massive networks. Its easy to apply and i feel more secure using this branded utility on my smartphone. In fact i have installed the Windows version on my pc and followed its advice in what to update to increase its security. Whats not to like! Had an update and it shows my smartphone has over 70 security issues contained within Android 4.1.2 OS! This OS is an upgrade I applied a year ago using Kies downloadable utility from Samsung uk website.

Operating systems on all devices cannot be upgraded. I have a Samsing S4 which CANNOT be upgraded any further than it already is. If this developer has not done his homework about this simple well - known fact then I wonder what he is doing with the rest of this app's logic! Uninstalling.

OK, after knowing your report, what is the way to rectify the adverse report. None of the device manufacturer communicative after selling the device, hope you must agree.

Belarc has always been a wonderful, useful, app and program for a desktop or tablet. It gets to the bare bones and tells you what's up with your system.

The only serious vulnerability scanner. My only complaint is the vulnerability definitions are three months behind the monthly Android security updates.

I'm obviously missing something here. Or am I? This app let's me know about the lapses in security within my OS and apps. I can uninstall a risky app, however, I cannot remove my OS. So unless there is an OS update, I am powerless to do anything. So in most cases I would imagine, Belarc informs you of a problem that is not fixable. So what's the point?

This app does a great job of revealing all the vulnerabilities found in your device. You might be surprised how many there are! It is important to understand that this app doesn't fix anything. It merely shows you what the vulnerabilities are.

Definitions are out of date. Dec 2016 does not help us. No way to update that I can tell. Edit: Aug 2016

Scan gave reassurances about my apps: all are safe. But, the scan reports numerous vulnerabilities in the Android 5.0.1 OS, but absolutely no clues on how to plug the holes (because we users can't do anything about our buggy OS, other than complain and fret). So, for the most part, the information provided is interesting, alarming, and USELESS! Google needs this; users don't.

Excellent app on mobile and fantastic on the desktop. The desktop scan is very thorough and gives a very granular view of both hardware and software. If you don't have Belarc Advisor on your desktop, get it right away.

im not as paranoid as people think. 39 vulnerabilities in android 5.1

This app very quickly checks and reports any security issues your phone may have.
