BenchMap
BenchMap allows searching and viewing of National Geodetic Survey / NGS survey stations on an interactive map. Once a station is selected you can view the datasheet, view the Geocaching page, take photographs and record notes.
On the map, you can filter the types of stations to display
- like certain stabilities, horizontal/vertical orders, and destroyed/non-publishable status. You can also directly search for a PID, and have the map take you to the location of the station, and manually view the datasheet of a station.
Once a station is found, you can take photographs of it, images being stored in a simple numbering scheme or be saved using the NGS's recommended photograph naming convention. Using the naming convention, each station's images are stored in their own folder, along with a notes text file if the you record any recovery notes for the station.
Made for the professional surveyor and the geocache hunter (benchmark hunter!) out there in the wild.
Note that the application will only display NGS survey marks. (No USGS stations or State stations at this time, unless they are included in the NGS database.)

In some cases it works but in most it doesn't! If it was updated more often it might have more benchmarks and I wouldn't have to travel miles past many benchmarks to get to one that's listed. I am a land surveyor in palm beach county Florida.
Great for finding NGS benchmarks. Has a good interface that shows recovered or not found marks. Includes datasheets. Also will give Google maps directions to mark. Awesome app. I only wish it could include local or county benchmarks. Maybe something to work on devs? Great app though. Saved me many hours hunting marks from datasheets only.
Seems to be working fine at the moment. Depending on cellular data and internet servers opens plenty of possibilities for performance issues that are out of the cotrol of the app and it's developer.
I am currently seeing data sheets just fine, unlike other recent reports. As a USGS benchmark fan since I was introduced to topo maps about 60 years ago, I am utterly delighted every time I use this. I'm glad I somehow dozed through the data sheet outage.
Used to locate a benchmark for flood study within 30 seconds downloading the app. Would be 5 stars if had a feature to share datasheet. I will still need to look up in the office again to print out for our records.
Amazing app for land surveyors looking for control. I use this all the time to find nearby vertical control for elevation benchruns. Thank you for putting back up!!!
It shows a few marks. I've used the "Shoot Unknown Mark" to photo/geo-tag several found marks, but nothing ever gets updated. Trying to help populate the map when I can.
I've discovered quite a few of the benchmarks do not match up with the GPS coordinates on Google maps. Sometimes almost a whole football field off.
I thik this app is very helpful for recovering NGS control points. I have used it effectively on an Android phone, but I can't seem to find the app for my iPhone.
server error message is showing less frequently but now the app is randomly crashing a few seconds after the data sheet is opened
Love the app. I am a land surveyor and used it often. I lost my phone and switched to an iPhone. Please develop this app for iOS. I need it again.
The app does a decent job of showing benchmarks, but ultimately fails in showing any data sheet info.
Will not pull up Data Sheet , completely useless, un-reliable, NOT FOR PROFESSIONAL USE , Let's hope that Google does not by any more apps from this developer
Extremely accurate, I use this for surveying to find the NGS points and it helps a ton, super useful

shows monuments but cant get data sheets to open with android
this app needs an update. I'm having a lot of issues trying to load the data sheet for any benchmarks. I worked in west palm beach Florida last week and could only get 1 out of 13 to load the data sheet. today I'm in lake Mary Florida and I can't get any of the 4 near me to load. The data sheet is constantly timing out.
