Best Android Symptom Checker

Powered by Harvard Medical School, the Virtual Nurse is a symptom checker which helps you answer the question: "Do I need to see the doctor?".
If you have medical worries or symptoms she will put your mind at rest and could save you an unnecessary visit to a physician. It's like having a physician in your pocket!

Free this month only, download it now!!

Best of all it's voice activated, just like Siri, so you can get a diagnosis from the virtual nurse just as you would from a real doctor! You can think of the Virtual Nurse as Siri for Health: she is your first stop for any health related concerns you have. The Virtual Nurse will talk to you, like Siri, and ask you questions about your symptoms to diagnose:

1. If your symptoms are normal2. If you need to see a medical doctor or physician3. If this is an emergency situation requiring urgent medical care

She will help you find a doctor or emergency room if the diagnosis requires. Topics included in the Symptom Checker developed by Harvard University cover 98% of the reasons you might need to see a doctor or diagnose and emergency, such as:

The virtual nurse is different from other apps like iTriage or WebMD because it gives you information about your health which is directed towards the specific action you need to take to stay healthy, such as see your primary care physician. Unlike iTriage and WebMD it's voice activated, like Siri, and is focused on helping you take steps to getting healthy.

This app seems to make money by referring Dr's. Couldn't even get past 2 questions before it told me to see a Dr. Then when I followed link to find a Dr in my area, only a major medical group shows up. I know there's a heck of a lot more Dr's within 20 miles then just this group.

A useful app, and easy to use. Very nicely designed. My only issue concerns the "find a doctor" feature that searches by zip code. I can't imagine why it would suggest only one single doctor for me in the broadest possible category, and refer me to a PCP an hour away, when I live in a large metropolitan area with thousands of doctors all around me. Makes me wonder if that doctor paid to be listed there. If so, I don't like that. It implies endorsement. Overall, a definite keeper though. Thanks!

I tried it with something I knew I had (Symptomate got it right, this one got it soo wrong). It lumped my symptom in with another symptom I did not have, but I had no other option. It kept suggesting serious problems before ruling them out. It eventually suggested I go to the ER just in case. For nausea and a headache! All I have is pms! For a true hypochondriac this app could do some damage. For me it's just useless.

Only targets single areas of the body or symptom to diagnosis. This app can't understand multiple symptoms that lead up to problems with you body.

Very common complaints are diagnosed quickly by following selections from the opening menu e.g. Body Region / Head & Neck /Headache. But for something as common as "dizziness" you have to do a search. (You won't find it as a separate entry either in the "All Guides" list.) Also be prepared to come up with synonyms e.g. it can't find "light-headedness".

Its great for checking your symptoms and whether you need to see a doctor or not. But I think the find a doctor near you thing is pointless on it, the find a doctor thing didn't work. I live in England and it only gave me people from the USA.

I use this app first whenever I need to figure out what's wrongnor to understand a diagnosis. I would highly recommend this app to anyone.

This app is great, it helps you to understand what is going on with you, but it does not replace a visit to the doctor to get professional help in person

This is pretty comprehensive and informative. Seems to accurately point you in the right direction when seeking answers to medical issues.

This app told me I had a sinus (sorry about sp) infection and it was right.

It seems legit, but somethings aren't on there that should be, like skin conditions. Also, they should give you a clue on what you might have instead of telling you of it's severe and to go to the doctor.

It's just what you need before going to or thinking about going to the doctor, also can save you a lot of ca ching" ca ching".

Cec. R. Mar 28, 2016

It would only respond to questions about general symptoms. If I try to pinpoint a specific area of my back, it only gives me questions for spine and joints when I don't have pain in my spine or joints. Needs work.

Bra. R. Mar 4, 2014

Pretty good at helping decide whether or not to go to the Dr or ER. It doesn't cover everything but that would be impossible anyway.

Ath. i. Dec 3, 2014

Symptoms and causes are a little vague. There's not enough option for symptoms and or possible causes. The UI is very attractive, though.

Jes. T. Sep 4, 2015

This app actually looks at your symptoms and asks you questions unlike other apps I've tried.

I found out I had an ingrown toenail. If it wasn't for this app I would have never known.

Lyn. P. Sep 8, 2015

I'm really excited to be able to get answers to my questions I have not been able to get through other medical websites. Thank you.

It's been telling me there is no internet connection half way through even when I have full 4g. Can't finish any part of the guide. Please fix or this app is useless.

Cli. H. Sep 7, 2014

This App FAILS where any MD would look at MULTIPLE symptoms.

Bra. B. Aug 2, 2015

Good information. Easy to look up a problem. Great way to learn symptoms and treatments for common problems.
