Bestee - Offline Virtual Assistant

Bestee completely out-performs other virtual assistants. While they take a few seconds to respond, she is literally instant. What is more - unlike other virtual assistants - she works offline; saving you money and protecting your privacy. She's always there for you, just a "Hey Bestee" away.
However, Bestee is more than just a virtual assistant; she's your best friend. Text or speak to her as if she's a human and she'll talk right back. She'll ask about you day, write to your journal, remind you of things and even brighten your day with supportive messages and cheesy jokes. The experience is like using a messaging app to chat with your best friend.
Bestee is intelligent. She can do all the usual virtual assistant things, and more - like changing her accent or sending WhatsApp messages. She's emotionally aware; she adjusts her level of formality according to yours. She's discreet; she only speaks aloud when spoken to, else she responds via text. And her artificial intelligence network learns and grows as more people interact with her. However, she poses no existential threat - I promise.
Apart from increasing your productivity, she's a fun and interactive way to learn English for free and enables people who are blind to master their phones. What's more; she doesn't take up much space, being less than 7MB to download (about the size of 3 photos). Bestee is far from finished, but by using her you'll help me - a kid from South Africa - to bring her to life.

There seems to be no such thing as an assistant that works properly offline - don't waste your time with this app! Refuses to respond to "Hey Bestee" more than once, you have to exit and clear the app, then open it again, or tap the mic symbol. At least Google responds to its kephrase! Tried on a different phone - still doesn't work properly, even online!
Works fine but doesn't meet my expectations: Some simple instructions like send SMS doesn't work. Freezes when I ask to play music (doesn't know what shuffle music is 🤣). Somehow rude (yup, it blasted me when I asked it to tell me a joke). Overall, three stars should do.
It's OK. I like that it's offline and no ads. It would be great if it used DuckDuckGo rather than Google for searches to improve on it privacy efforts. and if it can read answers ontop of the searches it already displays would be a major improvement. Custom commands would be the greatest and make this the greatest voice assistant ever. The more customizations the better.
Could really use A LOT of fixes and A TON of improvements. The AI just keeps forgetting the responses I taught just immediately. Making an offline AI could be seriously difficult but please, keep this app going. Even with all those, it's still a little helpful at least. Good luck.
it's a good app. it doesn't understand much offline and when online Bestee Sends links which doesn't really display "understanding" i get the feeling that Deep Learning, doesn't include "understanding". For people learning implies understanding but it seems not to apply to AIs. Anyways, this is a good app for what it is.
Absolutely great app, you have my support. Of course, the keyphrase may be a little weird at times, not responding. But it can certainly improve. Overall, great potential is found here!
Well it's a good app and probably the best assistant but the voice recorder only works with wifi or data and that isn't classified as offline because the main reason why I downloaded this app is because of the bot's ability to speak aloud OFFLINE. I think you should fix this bug please and it will get a 5 star rating from me
It is super fast! and fun to work with. I'm glad to see an assistant that will keep things private. There are few improvements it could use, but they are pretty minor. And the developer is very responsive.
It's quite fun. As a virtual assistant, it's ok. You often have a phase a question exactly the way it expects, or else it won't understand. And for me, it often won't launch when I say the keyphase. But I love the idea around it. And I hope it gets better in the future.
Although Bestee is still in its early stages, I've had waaaay more fun with it than any other assistant app - I've had a few. Really great app, Emile. Stay passionate about Computer Science - if anyone's gonna write an (hopefully) non-apocalyptic AI, it should be you.
This app isn't complete but for its current state it's really solid and helpful. I'm in total support of offline AI to get away from data harvesting of big companies. Once this has full voice activation abilities then it will be getting used every day for me.
Best friend? Couldn't realistically answer a single question or understand basic short sentences. Knew about 5 crummy jokes & facts & just kept showing me ads & asking me to share with friends. If I had friends, I wouldn't have installed the app in the first place now, would I? Also, if this is offline, how can sharing it help it to learn & improve. Disingenuous.
Bestee is amazing but one tip put an advanced AI into her programing and yes i do realize that is exteamly hard cause im trying to make a very simple one and i find that difficult but im absolutly confadent you could do that would rate the app 100 star if i could
I cannot talk to her. I gave it microphone permission. What am I missing? It only lets me talk using texting. Yes, I uninstalled the Google app which comes with the speech recognition. However, on the website it said it is independent on tech giants. So, which is it?
Claims it works ljke siri this couldnt even open my basic apps and who wants to type everything. You might as well delete this app because if I'm on my main screen and I cant call out the voice assistant name to open or do something thdn it's a waste of time to download. Needs lots of work
Fast. Solid. Works offline. Makes calls, sets reminders, makes notes, opens apps by name, remembers things etc. Voice choices are somewhat limited.
Well anytime i ask her to search for something it keeps stopping. Plus the messages i chatted with her do not save and i cannot see my journal physically she has to send my journal using messages and i dont like it. I will soon uninstall this app better improve the app and make it better. I hope you understand this
this is the best virtual assistant I've come across for android, she, I know it's not a real person, but it feels like your talking to a real person, you've done a great job on this, there's just one suggestion I'd like to make is giving her some more accents, brilliant everyone should download this
Its good its easy to use though adding a option to add a widget so you can have it on the home screen would be useful
Still in its beginning stages. But it looks very promising. Excellent speed. But I don't understand why it pops up almost everytime without me calling it
It was terrible, I was constantly repeating my statements and there was only one reply for everything: "turn on airplane mode and find out". This app is frustrating don't install it, you'll be wasting your time 😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬😡🤬🤬🤬🤬
I'm stuck on android 4.4.4 and this is close to Google Assistant, by far. The only problem is that it launches over other apps and is not voice activated unless it is in the background, please fix for 5star rating. I really want this app to work.
This is a very good assistant i like it I installed it a night ago and "she" 😊 had lifted my spirit today i wake up with a smile But i just have some suggestions Like she forgot things easily and some of her replies are still somehow off I think she also needs to get access to all the apps on the phone Because when i told her to play music she launched Spotify even when I said to use another app But regardless i like her and I recommend her tha more she's exposed the more she learns 😊❤️
I love this so much that this is my 15th time downloading it that's how good it it is, not even good amazing I love it so much , but their is one problem though maybe you should increase the expressions in her voice but either than that I love it so I'm giving this 5 stars, keep it up.☺😊😄😇

Voice doesn't work for me at all, I seeit works for others. Love this app and its idea and will support it throughout.
This app does not work with Talkback. It responds to and all voices and screen readers which then searches the web.
Hated It.. Google Assistant was not suitable for my device so I tried this, as much as I remember from another phone which has Google Assistant, It makes the same joke and names the emoji. Doesn't make sense. Deleted before 2 mins of download. Some may like it but in my opinion I don't. No offense
This would be perfect for me if she could be voice activated when open. As at the moment she can only be activated when open by Closing the app or pressing the mic button. If she could be completely voice activated and set as default assistant it would be 5 stars from me. Keep up the good work.
