Note: Whilst we consider battery life to be minimally affected, continued use of GPS in certain circumstances could dramatically decrease battery life. We recommend using an in-car charger if you're going on a long journey.

I updated my phone last week and have been unable to pair the app to my Bluetooth to record journeys. Not that it worked before that anyway. I've learned my lesson about cheap insurance. once the years up I'm cancelling my policy and taking my business elsewhere. Issue could be solved by updating the app or just using a black box like a normal telematics company.
2 months into my policy and the app STILL doesn't connect to the wingman. I have been threatened with cancellation, told the issue would be sorted, and still it won't connect. I have the latest app version update. Still nothing. This app needs a lot of work. A hell of a lot.
App is constantly not working, reporting poor scores on good drives. Can have eight good drives and one poor and you get a bad weekly score. Always having to delete and redownload the app to get it to work. Very difficult on andriod system as have to keep opening the app every time. Also really drains battery. Works in theory but app is horrendous
It's a very poor insurance company which has many problems within itself. I have been with carrot for a week now and decided it's right to make a review. I have been on live chat 5 times for different reasons including failure to log into the app, failure with the 'wingman device', failure to register a named driver and failure to connect to the device. It had so much potential but has let me and itself down due to its inexperience. The only positive was the cheapest price among other insurance.
DO NOT GET CARROT CAR INSURANCE!!! Not worth the 1 star. We keep having letters saying they are going to cancel the policy because we are not using the app but the app doesn't work! It crashes and says it had to close, and then doesn't record your journey. Also emailed to ask for details to add named driver, as the app wouldn't let us do this - no response/ log in details. Absolute waste of time.
Useless app doesn't work as intended. Doesn't record journeys correctly if at all. Been on phone to them and they dont have a bloody clue. they even said we did a 12hr journey but 0 miles lol happens on 2 of the latest phones fully updated. app has been reinstalled and repaired several times at their request wouldn't even give it one star to be honest its just not fit for purpose. warning to others you run the risk of having your insurance cancelled because of this app. this will double any future quotes
Im at the end of my one and ONLY year insurance policy with Carrot. For the entire year, the black box app did NOT work, and when it did, it told me I was driving at the wrong times (sometimes 2 hours behind the actual time!) Despite calling several times, this was never actually sorted. Then, to make matters even worse; someone decided to turn the company into a complete 'online' service?!?! So much for 'customer service'. Absolutely disgraceful company. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY.
So Firstly. The app only opens when it wants to. Secondly. It doesn't explain how you are gaining and losing points. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thirdly, when I call Carrot Insurance to ask why my points aren't great. They made me wait on hold for 35 mins. Then informed me that on my drive home that day, I had score negative points for accelerating from 30 to 50 to join a duel carriage way; And for braking erratically, or what I would call an emergency stop procedure because some stepped out from behind a bus on a high street. All in all its seems like a con, because you pay a premium to get insurance straight up, then you must download this app otherwise they cancel your insurance. Then they make the app impossible to score highly, and if you get to negative score in a row, OR THREE IN A LIFETIME. Your policy will be cancelled. If you have already brought into the insurance and are now trying to download this app. Good luck and I feel for you.
The app does not work, 99 times out of 100 it just wont load and just crashes but when it does record your journeys it says you are speeding when your not, even if all your driving is in the green for that week it still puts you in red for the week making it impossible to earn rewards. Complete waste of time. If the app doesnt work how am i supposed to be a better driver as you claim people will be when using the app!! Its not accurate and it doesnt work, i know its not accurate because when it recorded a journey last week it recorded a completly different route to the one i actually took. Im getting marked down because the stupid app doesnt work. Really wish i hadnt gone with this insurer and ive only been with them 11 days!!
Worst decision of my life. Believe the low ratings. Keeps crashing when I try to open it, only records some journeys regardless of being connected. Incredible that this piece of garbage is so fundamental to my insurance. Will just try to make it through the year and never going back to this!
Wish I'd checked the app reviews before buying an app based insurance not only is the app super invasive it's also poorly designed and maintained. Not worth the discounted insurance for the amount of hassle. I've had to use the livechat support service at least 7 times in the last few months.
Horrible app. Crashes every week, call them up and wait 45mins on hold until Carrot puts you through to customer service, they reset it, and then app stops working again the next week. Took them over a month to reset my login details when the password I set didn't work, and the reset password function didn't even send emails to me. Don't bother with Carrot or this app. You'll be better off taking your services elsewhere.
Awful app, doesn't record half of the journeys you make and when it does record a journey it only records a bit of it instead of the full journey. Spoke to online chat once and all they said was do not hard close the app which I hadn't and that was it. It's supposed to help people bring their insurance down each year but how is it going to do that when it doesn't work properly?
If you have a policy with these cancel it and pay a bit more elsewhere this is a app that doesn't work doesn't record any journeys then get emails saying they're going to cancel my insurance and sometimes it does record my journey for literally a minute. App hardly works since I've upgraded its like a 3 year old made this app
I'm sad I had to give one star, I wish I could put 0 stars. my app has not been working for 2 months. it says I'm driving with the red warning screen even when I'm sat in bed. some jow dont think that's too accurate. keep telling me it will fix with the update, BUT GUESS WHAT! IM STILL DRIVING WHILST IN BED APPARENTLY.. I will not be using these guys again..
Awful app and awful companys! Always crashes and is so hard to connect to phone. When you try to contact them to tell them you can't get through. Have to keep bluetooth on all the time which drains your battery a lot
This app is absolutely useless, each time i boot it, it just crashes. Update: I got on the phone to carrot, and a lovely chap tried to guide me through the process of installing the app, etc, probably part of protocol for the less tech savvy, my issue was not resolved but he was nice enough to tell me that he would add a note on my file so that my insurance is still valid. Around a month later I have received an email from carrot asking me to update the app, done so, but still the same issue.
