The 'Free' bit in the name is a misnomer - I'd rate Zero stars if I could - the "link" to continue for free with ads doesn't work, effectively meaning you can only sign up for the subscription. No Free option. EDIT after Developer response: Thank you for your reply, but I think you missed the part where I said that the link to skip the Trial and continue with ads, doesn't actually work. There are two options - have a trial and then pay, or have a trial and then cancel. Neither option is continue with ads. So my original comments still stand.
It's good, yes. Its functional. But that's literally it. The only reason you should use it is if you an afford to get premium (in which case you're better off just getting nord or surfshark). There arent constant ads, only when you switch apps, exit apps, turn off or open your phone, or get a notification. Edit: It somehow got worse. It now randomly disconnects itself and gives you no sort of warning, and sometimes just doesn't work.
It doesn't work. You only have access to the untied states servers on the free version which is kinda stupid since I am American.Wouldn't the smartest course of action to give free servers for a country the customer doesn't live in? It gives them better protection that way. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 2 minutes which gets very annoying I remember being able to use free servers from Australia or Canada in the past. I don't know what changed that but reconsider the method again.
It works fine enough for unblocking content on restricted networks. However, download and upload speeds are severely throttled (I clocked speeds of around 250kb/s on a network that at the bare minimum does 10mb/s) and the ads are obnoxious. I only use this because it's the only VPN that works in my campus, but otherwise I'd just use ProtonVPN.
Was a pretty good vpn, and still works I guess. My issue is that it randomly dossconnects while I am sitting and doing something so that I have to leave the app I am using and restart the vpn. Has stopped more frequently the more I use it. Edit: I found a fix to my problem by using the auto-protect feature. I am also very impressed by the timely response of the support team.
It used to be a good vpn app, free with ads. Worked good until recently. It keeps getting disconnected out of nowhere, and very frequently. Have to go to the app to reconnect. And before the developer comments by saying use "contact support" , i tried that first thing. But when i continue after putting info regarding my concern, it asks me to share it via any app.... thats all. So that option was of no use. Going to uninstall this app if this issue persists.
Hardly functional. It normally takes around 5 minutes just to connect but that's after repeatedly restarting my phone, turning on and off airplane mode, switching to other wi fis that I cant connect to then switching back, and a bunch of other cumbersome tasks. However, as of late, it has been taking me 15-30 minutes trying to connect for more than 20 seconds. It will connect, cancel the connection, try to connect again, connects, cancels and the cycle continues. Premium not worth, use other VPN
This vpn is barely functional dont use it itll connect fast the first few times and will take at least 3 straight minutes of trying to get it to work. If you dowload this app just be ready to download and delete it multiple times it is the only solution I have found and the vpn should be used if there is no other option. Edit : The developers say to clear cache and data the restart device. It did not work; I had already tried that before I got feedback.
When I try to open snapchat it gives me 10 minutes worth of ads, so I try to swipe the app out but it keeps bringing them up but eventually it stops and that's the quickest way to stop their army of ads. I tried talking to them about how the ads just keep going sometimes and don't end and the farthest I'm gone is 10 minutes before I loose my patience and disconnect so I can get into the app. But when I reached out I was told that personal assistance is only for premium member. It isn't worth it
Doesn't always work and spams you with ads. Half the time it won't activate after the ads are done so you have to restart the app and watch all the ads again. Even then it's not guaranteed to work.
Like 5 minutes after getting this, I found that it was free and unblocked on school WiFi. I am currently grounded, my phone was taken away however i got my old phone and looked for a VPN today, this helped me a lot despite it not being too fast it's free and amazing!
it's honestly one of the best VPNs I've used, but it takes a buttload of time for it to load and actually connect. that's the only issue, honestly. the rest is perfect! definitely recommend, but it requires a little bit of patience.
The app states it is free with ads, however, after getting a new phone upon opening the app, it claims that I HAVE to get the subscription, it is a pop-up, but I cannot exit out of it. Until this gets fixed, this will be my rating. Please fix this
VERY invasive ads that will not turn off or cancel without you closing the app. You can not use this app to watch netflix through a vpn. No longer works with Pandora either. Did work before but now there is no longer any use for this app IMHO.
Works fine and does what its supposed to do. But there has been a massive influx of pop-up ads in the past 3 days. If you're going to have ads, make it either the banner which is preferred, or the dumb pop-ups, but not both. I have to close 2 or 3 ads before I can actually turn on the VPN. There is no need to purchase the full version, the free version works fine.
I'm not the person who's relying on the premium services. It's a decent VPN without them. Recently, however, I encountered an issue. Betternet is failing to allow me to access Discord and other unspecific apps. Is this a connection problem or other? I would appreciate clarity and if it's an issue you're currently attempting to fix, then I apologize if I sound like I'm nagging. Edit: A year or so later and the app works worse. Thanks for being utterly useless, "customer support".
Does the job 90% of the time (sometimes randomly disconnects) but the app won't even be open I'll close it and ads will pop up even when using different apps how annoying I need to find a different VPN to use
Was double charged for a monthly subscription and the contact us button within the app doesnt even work. Conne ts and disconnnects randomly. Severely disappointed. Will be deleting this app. Sad i wasted my money ×2 but lesson learned.
Reliable vpn. With every previous vpn before this, I'd have to uninstall them and download a new vpn every few days but betternet hasn't failed me for a long while. Though it doesn't much grant better internet, in some case it slightly worsens it by a noticeable degree when using other apps available in your country, it still provides faster interent when using those that aren't available than other vpns
It keeps randomly disconnecting and I can barely get around the app because of how much pop up ads there are. And when I finally do connect it gives me a 1 minute long unskipable ad and it doesn't even connect. Then when I click the button again, it does the same thing. I have to turn off my wifi to even connect this VPN.
Literally the worst experience I have ever come across from an ad-riddled app. I can live with limited speed, your app your rules, I can bear the ads, I understand you have to generate revenue, but what I CANNOT stand is the ad spamming EVERY. SINGLE. NOTIFICATION. POPUP!!!! Why? What is wrong with you? Do you realise how many customers you may have lost over this algorithm? Ads are supposed to be over set time intervals, not on notifications from other apps!!!! Good bye and good riddance!!!!!
Everytime I disconnect from wifi the app completely breaks and I have to reinstall it just to be able to use it again. Other than that it works great
used to be a small inconvenience but now gives several ads before allowing me to do anything, gives ads when i open spotify, and opens betternet after the ads upon trying to launch spotify. and overall the quality of the app has plummeted.
The app is great and i love. And i dont mind these many interrupting ads since the app is free. But covering the "connect" button with an ad ?! So that i cannot connect and i have to close the app and reopen it again multiple times ?! Thats really messed up and REALLY annoying. I hope this issue is resolved soon or i am using a different VPN Thank you
I realized this month that I have been paying 10 dollars a month for this app that I don't even use anymore. Everything should be fine, just cancel the subscription right? It's not that easy. They make it SO hard to cancel your subscription. Not only is there nothing on the app that tells you how to cancel your subscription, but you have to send them an email to cancel and HOPE they respond. This is unacceptable and typical scummy business practices.
Of course for the free version, there is going to be a lot of ads and sometimes it's annoying because they pop up whenever I open a new app, but it's no big deal when compared to having free internet access anywhere you go. I'm thankful for Betternet 😌
Works on Wi-Fi with firewalls, blocks data access on mobile network. Sometimes works on open Wi-Fi. Other times it just blocks your internet access entirely and your phone behaves like there's no internet. In the beginning there were little to no ads, now there is three or four before I am able to connect.
This is by far my favorite vpn. For one thing, only 1 in 10 free VPNs are free without "free" trial. Most VPNs take about 15 seconds to connect. This one takes 5. It almost never fails, and when it does, it fails quickly rather than waiting 30 secs. Once I am connected, the connection is steady and fast. Lastly, the ads are great. Some people said you get a month of light ads, then it gets bad. I'm new, but I am almost ad-free. If ads do do start coming, I'll be fine with it.
