Bharatavani
This App is part of the Bharatavani Multilingual Knowledge Portal (www.bharatavani.in), which aims to provide Knowledge in about more than 120 Indian Languages. This App is sources its data from the Dictionaries that are published on the Bharatavani portal. Many Government and Non-Government Institutions have contributed various dictionaries. While more than 40 text based dictionaries are readily available for usage on the App, 100 more dictionaries are available on the portal in book formats during 2015-16. CIIL will digitise all these dictionaries and put on to the App shortly. The copyright of all these dictionaries rests with respective Publishers.
CIIL has published them on Bharatavani with due permission.
How to use Bharatavani Multilingual Dictionary App
- Accept Terms and Conditions, install and open.
- Type a word in English, Hindi or in any language. Available results will be enlisted.
- You can also browse dictionaries alphabetically using the Menu Bar options.
- You also have an option for getting the word transliterated into your choice of Language Script.
- Many more options will be added in the coming days.

It's almost a fortnight since the app doesn't work on my android phone. Please help! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Why is this app down for more than a week now? I could not even access the website on the browser to lodge a complaint. For such an excellent resource, it is difficult to believe how irresponsible the web site owners are regarding maintenance. In addition, the app and website are so very user hostile and take a long time to provide results for each search.
One of the best repositaries on Indian Languages. There is a huges collection of books, videos, dictionaries, educational content and pedagogical books. Great app! Please intstall after uninstalling the old version.
I am rating only for your efforts, otherwise I don't see anywhere any procedure on how to learn different languages completely (including their usage when talking), am I supposed to learn dictionary words,
Good data base. But, need to make it more user friendly: 1. There should have been a bookmark option to mark our favorite Dictionary. 2. Option to download and use Dictionaries in Offline mod.
App is very usefull, but from past 2 months app is not working. Also after 10 night app wont work? I dont know why?
Dictionary is good. But very slow functioning and meanings of words do not come fast. Not quick. we have to wait hours to find meaning of words. updates needed. Not updated since 2017.
Good one.. pretty light App. Promising one. Can be even better,. Side bar doesn't go away when searching dictionaries option.
It takes too much time to find any word meaning & its user interface is inelegantly. so i give this app only one star. you did good work by making this app so i hope you fix it..
It is good, but from last 2/3 days it has not been possible to browse. Request you to restore the service immediately.

As a Android app developer. I can say this is the wrost app done by some kid who have learnt to code as a school project. And the server, don't know who the hell who is maintaining that ! but I'm damn sure in the name of this project they have looted public money. This app deserves 0 rating and I can make a better app than this within 2 weeks that too for free. Hats off to all those people who collected such a huge resource of data from decades. Sad to see corrupts using that knowledge 😠
I have benifited very much. Can get meanings of all rarely used words of any indian language.Heartfelt thanks.All children should use for a good idea of different words

Not getting meaning for most of the kannada words
Disappointed. Though it's claiming to be a pan-Indian app, any user can experience the Kannada language got the highest priority; Hindi and English comes at 3rd & 4th... Other languages are just kept as additional for the projection of this as pan-Indian languages' app. Sanskrit and Tamil are forgotten. Whatever search, 80% of the result is shown in Kannada irrespective of the user's choice of language. Only Kannadigas can use this app in its full potential.
