The King James Version (KJV), commonly known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. First printed by the King's Printer Robert Barker, this was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities.

James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy. The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew text, while the Apocrypha were translated from the Greek and Latin.

The Biblical apocrypha (from the Greek word ἀπόκρυφος, apókruphos, meaning "hidden") denotes the collection of ancient books found, in some editions of the Bible, in a separate section between the Old and New Testaments or as an appendix after the New Testament. Although the term apocrypha had been in use since the 5th century, it was in Luther's Bible of 1534 that the Apocrypha was first published as a separate intertestamental section. Luther was making a polemical point about the canonicity of these books. As an authority for this division, he cited St. Jerome, who in the early 5th century distinguished the Hebrew and Greek Old Testaments, stating that books not found in the Hebrew were not received as canonical. Although his statement was controversial in his day, Jerome was later titled a Doctor of the Church and his authority was also cited in the Anglican statement in 1571 of the Thirty-Nine Articles.

King James VersionThe English-language King James Version (KJV) of 1611 followed the lead of the Luther Bible in using an inter-testamental section labelled "Books called Apocrypha", or just "Apocrypha" at the running page header. The KJV followed the Geneva Bible of 1560 almost exactly (variations are marked below). The section contains the following:
- 1 Esdras (Vulgate 3 Esdras)
- 2 Esdras (Vulgate 4 Esdras)
- Tobit
- Judith ("Judeth" in Geneva)
- Rest of Esther (Vulgate Esther 10:4-16:24)
- Wisdom
- Ecclesiasticus (also known as Sirach)
- Baruch and the Epistle of Jeremy ("Jeremiah" in Geneva) (all part of Vulgate Baruch)
- Song of the Three Children (Vulgate Daniel 3:24-90)
- Story of Susanna (Vulgate Daniel 13)
- The Idol Bel and the Dragon (Vulgate Daniel 14)
- Prayer of Manasses (follows 2 Chronicles in Geneva)
- 1 Maccabees
- 2 Maccabees

Included in this list are those books of the Clementine Vulgate that were not in Luther's canon. These are the books most frequently referred to by the casual appellation "the Apocrypha". These same books are also listed in Article VI of the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Church of England. Despite being placed in the Apocrypha, in the table of lessons at the front of some printings of the King James Bible, these books are included under the Old Testament.

I love this app. All in one so I'm not going back and forth between apps. One suggestion though, it would be nice if it remembered where I was in a chapter without having to bookmark so I don't have to keep finding my place because I fall asleep reading in bed. Really don't like how the ads are full screen and difficult to minimize. Sometimes I have to swipe the app closed to get rid of the ads. Otherwise I love it ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I used to be able to set the background in brown, the lettering in yellow and the font italicized from my phone (which is not longer working) but it does not give me those options regarding the background color or lettering color. In regards to the font being italicized - the offer is there but inactive. When I go to uncheck and re-check it there is no change. Can this be added as an option because these settings/options mentioned above made it much easier for me to read - visually.

Awesome app, however It does need improvement. Being able to do several things at once is important like taking notes, keeping a list of scriptures last used or highlighted automatically. Being able to date & list scriptures all at once while quickly following the lesson. Separately highlighting the last scripture read or underlined on the side while continuing to read, search & follow lessons. Hopefully, it'll improve but I'm very grateful for the app. & what it provides now.

Because you still have the book of Revelation in your app. I have come across two books one was a Holy Bible and the other was a mini Bible dictionary with a concordance and it also had all the books of the bible in it. I thought it was a great idea till I saw no sign of the book of Rel. And the Bible was the same. It was a New Versions. So I ditched both. And again thank you for not trying to erase Gods word! It is a very useful app altogether. :)

In addition to my previous review, another dislike is that there is no dictionary feature includes. For instance, if there is a word I am not familiar with, I would like to click on the word and have the definition briefly presented on the screen. Having that feature would be helpful

I like the swipe-to-turn feature on the pages a lot. The only thing I think is missing in this is footnotes/reference links to other parts of the Bible relating to each verse. The ads don't really get in the way, and I also like that you can customize the size of the font. Sweet app! I'm looking forward to the next update :)

First time using this. Good first impression. The application is light and Fast to respond. Has ability to highlight verses in different colors and create personal notes. Has ability to create local back ups instead of having to backup to the cloud. Thanks

Perfect!!! It's exactly what I needed and exactly what I was hoping for. Has all the books of the Bible and more importantly has almost completely original translations of the scripture. A lot of scripture people use is completely updated and words changed for more convenient use to the masses, which is not what I was after.

Best Bible app in the universe. I would like to see other translations added into the app, though, such as Hebrew Interlinear, New King James, etc. That way, a person could choose which of those to use. I understand the Apocrypha has not been updated since its translation, but the Main bulk of the Bible has, so it would be nice to see other options. I personally would be particularly fond of an app that would allow the Hebrew Aramaic and Greek to be seen alongside all other translations.

I really like this app alot! It makes finding scriptures very easy and it is fast and reliable! If only I could go back to the chapters without going to the main screen to change the chapters.

This work is very good. I downloaded it because I want to read Aporophy books. I gave you 4 star rating because I need the option to explore the text. Therefore, I would appreciate if you can add an Interleaner section so I can better understand the texts. Hoping to see this improvement soon. And I will certainly give you 5 star. Thank you for bringing back the Bible in its original state. Mary Solomon I continue to enjoy the reading. Question. Is there a topical section? If so, how it be found?,

The search feature has a glitch. When I narrow my search down to a word in a specific book, The app will only allow me to search for that word in the book that I searched previously. I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can search in another book.

I really love this app. it's easy to use and is very useful especial when I need to find scriptures in a hurry. Perhaps you could consider adding a search to the notes section ,this would greatly assist the user when he/she is trying to find the topics and scriptures they saved instead of the long manual search.Overall, wonderful experience.

It's convenient & appreciated to have the holy scriptures in this format. The improvements I'd like to see: Being able to place side notes or write a list of scripture as your reading & then minus it to the side when needed. Or rather, please consider somehow having previously read scriptures dated & listed automatically, now that would be a true plus. Lastly, being able to underline in different colors. Hopefully, these suggestions will be considered for future improvement. Thanks so much! :)

It's kinda difficult sometimes when I'm reading to get my mind off from some of theses annoying adds that's taking up so much space at he bottom of the page" which in my opinion should be much smaller!!

excellent! I have not single thing to say about this that's critical excellent! for a person like me that has a disability that it's kind of like Asperger's it really helps to have a machine read it in a monotone voice and I did actually recently find out exactly how to control the speed and the pitch! I love that!

The changes made to the navigational systems though subtle are very effective. I love using this app for not only reference but as my regular go to when I'm out out and about. Highly recommend, y'all, and keep up the good work, team. It is much appreciated.

I very much like this app and being able to highlight and underline to sort our bibles to whatever we wish for! I highly recommend this app, but what I find annoying is that whenever you go to all your highlighted verses and you click on one it takes you to that place in the bible even if you are deep into your verses and lose your place. I think there should be a feature where you can click on that certain verse to read the entire thing but not be taken to the place in the bible. Thanks!

Very good app 👍👌 love it for it's easier accessibility of scriptures and ability to highlight them with various colours to distinguish between & among them as you desire to classify them. I recommend you to download this app and you will surely be blessed. It's an easy read app. Kindly, do not hesitate to download the app 👍 but consider having it downloaded, if you feel not satisfied or it being below your expectations, then you are free to do away with it and replace it with any other.

If there is a way to bookmark and return to last read area, I have not been able to figure it out. I do love the fact your app reads to you! However, the mono toned voice, annoying. I cannot get into the the read, so I manually reaD myself. Thank you for your time and effort! God bless you!

I would give 5 because I do love it...and if these changes are made, I will change my rating. First, the bug. If I am leaving a note on a Scripture and minimize the app to check a resource, probably 7 out of 10 times when I expand the app the note box is gone. Just gone. If I click the verse, plus, note...nothing happens. If I try and click another verse nothing happens...if I go to another book...nothing. The only way to fix it...close the app and reopen...but all of my unsaved notes gone

A very good app that is insightful in learning all the truth of God. It has a search feature that helps you get to what you're looking for faster, including partial searching which can help you chain certain words in verses together within the same verse. Keep it up team. I'm getting back to bible every day using this app. May God bless you and keep you in his mercy and grace, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray for thee, amen!!!

I really love this app and what I most appreciate is that it includes all of the books that had previously been removed by the catholic church. I would appreciate it if there was a way to transfer bookmarks saved from one phone to another. This is a very important feature that should be included so you always have your bookmarks. Lastly, there has to be a way this app can be made for the app store on Apple phones. I recently got an iPhone and I am not happy that I can't have this app on there.

Rat. D. Dec 25, 2021

I purchased the app to remove ads. I had to reinstall, the ads have reappeared 👎🏿🤬 Otherwise it's a great app. Wonderful, there are many options for sharing and highlighting.
