This edition of the Sacred Scriptures is based mainly on the Reina Valera 1909 version. It has been revised and corrected according to the oldest Hebrew and Greek texts, in consultation with the Aramaic texts of the Peshita and various ancient and modern versions of the Scriptures.
The main purpose of this version is to restore the original Sacred Name of the Creator and that of his Son the Messiah.
The other names have been left as they are in the traditional versions. An exception to this is that we have restored the name Yah (Psalm 68: 4) in the names of people who end with "iah", such as Isaiah, which we have placed as Isaiah. That's because in the Greek version Septuagint the final h of those Hebrew names was replaced by an s; and in those cases we have restored the final h to its corresponding place.
An outstanding feature in this version is that we have always translated the Hebrew word Elohim as "Mighty" when referring to the eternal Father.
When referring to idols we have cast it as "deities" or "powerful". We have dispensed with the Spanish word "God" for several reasons. One is because the word "God" has become a cliché that has lost real meaning in Spanish. Another reason is that the Hebrew word elohím has several meanings; it is applied in the Hebrew Scriptures to divinities, to idols, to judges, to angels and to kings; This does not make sense when the Spanish word "god" is used. We have done the same with the Greek word theos.
Special care has been taken to preserve the classic and authentic language of the Reina Valera of 1909 but updating some words that are no longer used or that are not well understood. In keeping with this we have replaced the "you" of Spain with the "you" of Latin America. In addition, some minor corrections have been made to the traditional text to adapt this edition to the best and oldest Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, including Isaiah of Qumran.
