Requires users to create yet another account with yet another company. For the money you will spend on this ripoffware over the years in terms of recurring subscription fees (there is no possibility to purchase the app once and for all), one could buy a dozen good books -- sure, they won't contain a million run-of-the-mill, cheaper-by-the-dozen variations on a theme, but 100 original, sophisicated, high-quality menus instead of 1 mio. mediocre simple plates will taste a lot better.

I really appreciate and enjoy Most of the recipes on Big Oven. Sometimes I disagree with the amount & type of seasoning used but after trying the recipe you can always make whatever changes you like!

Pricing is great. Many ways to enter recipes. some as quick as a few seconds. Only complaint is you can't edit a recipe from the app. you have to go to the website.

Does almost everything I want, but I would love to see filters for nutritional profiles, like low calorie, low carb, etc. Search terms sometimes go wonky: Looking for "canned tomatoes" will turn up every kind of tomato under the sun. These are nitpicks, but a major problem is that it will not sync between my laptop and my phone. I've spent the past few hours searching for a new recipe app just for this reason, but I can't seem to find one that does everything that this one does.

It's alright but there is a lot of efficiency issues that make it more of a hassle than a help. The grocery list doesn't aggregate well since recipes might have one slight thing off for similar ingredients such as soft butter vs softened butter. The other issue is none of the collections ever update. I've had this app for a year. The weekly top fav has not changed since. Maybe everyone really does make the same 5 things every week. There's several other issues like this that just make going on a computer so much easier. It is nice for storing recipes you like though!

I have been using this app for years and love it for the most part. It definitely has some glitches - the meal planner calendar (in app) especially. Sometimes it won't refresh until you restart. Half of the week is current and the second half shows my plan from Aug. I have to go to the calendar and select the day to get it to show. The recipe importer is a great feature, but when you have to do the quick import, all of the fields are stacked on top of each other. Out of the app, it works fine.

Unfortunately, I have to change my review. I am a paying "pro member." I have experienced a number of bugs and UX problems, many of which are app-breaking, and I am reaching my final straw. Phone App: constantly crashes from the most basic of functions, such as editing grocery list and adding meals to the planner or even just scrolling through the calendar planner. Web App: Horribly slow database connection, so that you wait 10 seconds or more between even the most basic of actions (which could easily be cached to my local computer), and archaic error messages EVERY TIME I try to "create grocery list from meal calendar". I am not kidding, it is every time. Today, I am just not allowed to use one of the most essential features of the app. There are plenty of other small bugs as well. The web app used to be better, but obviously they are not treating their software developers properly, because the app is a total mess lately. Its downright infurating, and I am a paying user. If this doesnt shape up, I am leaving this app in the dust, I dont care if I need to re-add all my saved recipes in another app. This is unacceptable.

Update. I still love this app but it consistently fails me in certain situations. I pay for the pro version mainly for the notes and folders but I cannot access my notes from varying devices. I can only see the note from the device on which it was made even though I'm logged in to the same account. Additionally I'm tired of my notes disappearing even on the same device. Often I can get some of them to return if I click to edit an old one or even make a new note but this isn't ideal.

Used it for years...since Windows 7. Used to be so features were free. Now, the best features no longer work unless you pay a monthly premium fee. Poppycock. I will never pay a monthly fee. Better off just paying one time to own a software suite than a monthly fee. So, I still recommend the app but not the greedy management. Hence only 4 of what could be 5 stars.

The recipes are really good and really looks delicious 🤤🤤🤤 I'm looking forward in trying a lot of these recipes. This is definitely a must get and try app I hope you have a book out with recipes so I can also get☺️

Honestly this app could so easily be a 5 star but there's just a few things that have dissapointed me. When I've paid for recipe scans and the photos are added sideways!? The fact that I can't seem to edit the recipes after they have been scanned in... Which is really necessary because they're often added with errors or with no title. C'mon guys... Just a bit more work and I would be sharing this app with everyone I meet!! It's almost there!!

Free version doesn't let you categorize recipes or put them in folders, which is like, the one thing I want from a recipe app.

My 'go to' for family dinner recipes! I always find something (or a few somethings) good and different ways to cook a dish.

Was not exactly what I was looking for, but still a decent app. Great for recipes in one spot. And a place to put meal planning. But was hoping it would have a place to store what ingredients I already had so I could see recipes I could make. Only allows you to manually enter 3 "left over" ingredients each time.

Better than Cozi! I'm talking about the free version of both apps here. Why I like big oven better: 1. Big Oven moves crossed off grocery items to the bottom of the list. Cozi leaves them in their original position. 2. Big Oven categorizes grocery items for you.(dairy, produce, poultry, etc.) Cozi requires you to do this. 3.Big Oven adds recipe ingredients go on the main grocery list. Cozi adds recipe ingredients to a separate shopping list for each recipe. (Who shops multiple lists at once?)

I'm only using the free version for now, but it's really helpful to have recipes and shopping list in one. I haven't done more than save recipes, but there tons that look great. I've just been bookmarking everything I want to try because I know I'll be at the store and remember last minute that I want to try something new. Pretty user friendly, too.

I found the features promising and decided to go ahead and pay for the pro version. I checked features and recipes from websites are bit importing well. Often the app is far too slow (on a usually fast cellphone). I still have a 30 day trial but I am giving up already. Cancelling renewal on the first day of trial, there are other apps that give me all functions I need and work much better.

Eri. P. Jan 27, 2022

As much as I love finding new recipes to try, having it put you back at the top over and over while it loads more recipes is the most aggravating experience. If it wouldn't send me to the top each time and have me scroll through the same recipes over and over this would be my favorite app. Unfortunately not that way

Hel. M. Aug 29, 2020

Frustrating. It's not intuitive. Everytime I try to add a recipe to my meal planner, I get a page about upgrading to the pro version. The intro video is not helpful. Going to uninstall and go back to paper and pencil. Much easier.

This app would be great if it actually worked. Riddled with bugs, including not being able to log in or sign up so I have to continue as guest, not being able to type in more than one ingredient under the use up leftovers inspiration category, and not being able to take a single one of my 3 free photos to upload a printed recipe.

Bet. J. Aug 29, 2019

I had no intention of subscribing. I was just checking tne app out. Then a $2.99 charge showed up. So i went to my Google Play subscriptions & cancelled it. But the $2.99 charge showed up again for August. I went back to my Google Play subscriptions & Big Oven is not there. So i can't unsubscribe again. I called the phone # that was on my bank statement. That was pointless. I tried every prompt possible & each one led me to a voicemail box. It seemed sort of sketchy to me. I just want out. Help

Great app! I've been terrible at getting ingredients for meals together and in the past, have had to find recipes here and there and make multiple trips to the grocery store. Big Oven allows me to find plenty of new recipes, put them on the planner, make a list for all, and grocery shop once for the week. I'm using the paid version and I'm sure I have more than paid for the cost of the app with gas and time savings.

The ads are incredibly invasive. I had to stop many times while typing in a recipe to close the same Clorox interstitial that kept popping up literally every ten seconds and covering most of the screen. The app is fine for my needs in filling out a custom cookbook but the ads are stupidly invasive.

Ame. G. G. Sep 28, 2021

Better than I thought. I love being able to add recipes from pictures of printed material, and adjusting the ingredients to a different number of servings. The grocery list I use all the time, and I recently started using also the meal planner.

Bac. D. Feb 1, 2020

Opted for a Facebook login, but opted NOT to allow the app to have my email address. Unfortunately, this is a requirement and you can't log in without an email address. I'm going to take a hard u-turn on that. I get enough junk mail. I don't need it from these guys or the people they make it available to. No matter what the reason.

This app is great. Lots of excellent recipes and instructions that make your meals and meal preparation fun.
