bimmer-tool (BTool)
Try bimmer-tool lite to see whether the app is compatible with your BMW and your OBD adapter.
Important: This application requires a reliable OBD adapter. Cheap adapters may not work or functionality may be limited. K+D-Can cable of the following Bluetooth adapters are recommended:

Application allows to:
- read DPF regeneration status and detailed information
- request DPF regeneration
- reset DPF adaptation values (required after filter replacement)
- read exhaust fumes pressure
- read injectors adjustments
- read actual and expected values for air mass, intake manifold pressure, fuel pressure
- log data to CSV file for further analysis
- register battery replacement (without changing battery properties)
- reset lamps circuits blocked due to short-circuit error
- reset oil service or change interval**
Supported OBD adapters
- K+D-Can USB: This is recommended and most reliable adapter. You will also need USB-OTG cable.
- ELM327 Bluetooth: Bluetooth connection may be slower than USB. Only genuine ELM327 or PIC18-based adapters will work. It may not work with older engines. More info below.
- ELM327 WiFi: Like ELM Bluetooth connection may be less stable. On some devices mobile data transmission needs to be disabled to use WiFi adapter.
Application works also with BMW E60, E83**, E81, E87, F10, F30, F25 and with M47N/M57N (DDE5) engines in E46/E39** models.
Older engines like M47 DDE3, M57 DDE4 or M54 MS43 also works but only with K+DCan cable.

Quick start
1) Connect adapter to OBD II socket
2) Turn ignition on
3) Connect adapter to your phone:
* USB: Connect adapter to the phone using USB-OTG cable. Phone will ask which app to start - choose bimmer-tool app.
* Bluetooth: Go to phone Bluetooth setting. Search for Bluetooth devices and pair the adapter with the phone (PIN is usually 0000 or 1234).
* Wifi: Turn mobile data transmission off. Turn WiFi on and search for available WiFi networks. Connect the phone to the adapter's WiFi.
4) Start the app, go to 'Car' and choose model and year.
5) Go to 'Connection' and choose connection type, adapter type and communication protocol.
6) Tap 'Connect' button.
**Limitations:
- Service reset and rain sensor reset in cars up to 2007 is only possible with UniCarScan UCSI-2000 or K+DCan cable.
- X3 E83 with M47/57 and ELM adapter supports engine only. For other modules use K+DCan cable.
- X5 E53, E39, E46 may not work with Bluetooth adapter. USB K+DCan is recommended.
Common problems
- Engine 'No response' error in cars up to 2007 and BT/Wifi adapter. If this error occurs from time to time, try selecting ATWM option under advanced connection settings.
- No connection: If adapter & protocol settings are correct and app still cannot connect to the car try force stop all diagnostic applications in application manager (including bimmer-tool) or restart the phone and try to connect again.
Why this app requires permissions?
- Storage: required for USB adapters support
- Photos / Media / Files: allows to create CSV files
- Pair with Bluetooth devices/access Bluetooth settings: required for Bluetooth adapters support
- Full network access: required for WiFi adapters support
- Approximate location: Theoretically it is possible to find approximate location using Bluetooth, however this app does not read/use location.

Bought in conjunction with compatible Veepeak OBD Bluetooth adaptor. Been having trouble in my BMW E90 with DPF and regens being blocked. App connected perfectly to adaptor, and gave all the info I could need. Even periodically cleared my fault codes while forcing regen. Appears to have resolved my issues, very impressed and certainly saved alot of back and forth with garage. Would definitely recommend.
The best app over all and I have testet several apps. With the latest version I was amazed to see all my errors, including airbag error, dissapearing with a single Read and then Delete All. DPF function is also very very useful. Thanks, 5 stars!
A highly recommended cost effective and cost saving app! Its easy to setup and use, just make sure to use genuine and recommended hardware. Followed instructions and setup was done within a few minutes from installing app to fully working with vehicle, saved me money on paying unprofessional garages or the main dealers to tell me what's wrong with my car. The best of all you can check the status of the DPF and action regeneration if required. The layout is good, easy to read and understand.
I liked the lite version so much I decided to buy the BMW tools full version for $16 this person took the time to make the scanner software and let us try it for free. I wanted to say thank you with cash👍😁
Needed to reset DPF on BMW E92 2.0D after replacement. Used Carista OBD Bluetooth adapter. Connected easily and done the job. It has enough functionality for diy mechanics

Great app and a great value compared to other options out there. I purchased specifically to register a new battery in my vehicle and it worked successfully. I initially had a problem getting it to work, but I contacted the developer and received a very prompt reply helping me go through the process. After following the instructions (ignition off vs ignition on) everything was very smooth.
It's a struggle to get it connected. The lite version connected fine, but after buying the full version it was a half hour long ordeal to get it connected to the ECU. Allows you to reset a few automatic adaptations and trigger the ECU to re-learn them, but not able to change parameters or do any actual tuning. DPF regen might be worth it, but I have a gasoline engine. Live data works ok, but most of it stays in metric even after changing units to U.S.
Wish they would have said it's not in English. You'd think if they market it in us translation would be mandatory. Using Google to translate while using app is a pain
The app stated that it can perform battery registration process when replacing battery. The option does not exist in any of the menus. The battery menu just states current status. Requesting refund.
Superb app. Got my 2007 E83 X3 through its MOT thanks to this. Could use more in app documentation and tool tips, but with a bit o googling it's fine :)
The app itself works but it won't let me have it in my language (english) so all the codes I get are in a foreign language I can't reat it's ridiculous
Fantastic app! I was looking for a sensibly priced alternative to Carly to register a new battery and this worked a treat. Well worth the low price just for the one registration! The only thing I would say is the UI looks a bit dated but that doesn't matter to me. Thank you
It lacks alot of other features that other apps have given me in free trials. I thought that it was just behind a pay wall but it can't read it st all. If this is just a bug ull understand but info that I need to view like fuel trim and fuel pressure for example aren't available on this app but are readable in others.
Best app out there for bimmer owners! Quick and easy to use, with the ability to check and request dpf regens. I had some connection issues at the start but app developer was very helpful to correct my issue (I was using an ELM 327 mini) and I purchased the VeekPeak adapter which works like a charm, happy days.
Works everything as described and I expected from the app. Error codes are missing descriptions for f30, that is the reason for 4 instead of 5. Also, the UI could be more bright and modern, but it is subjective thing.
Did a dpf regen and took soot down to 2.1g from 31.5g, so did again straight away and now down to 0.4g. You have to be driving it will not do a stationary regen. but just what I was looking for.live data shows cat temp going over 600 F when its happening. Worthless. Paid $15 expecting all of the parameters, options, functions to become available, that weren't available in the free 'lite' version. Not a single function unlocked in the paid version. Every item said 'not available for this engine'. 2014 550i F10 N63 engine. Complete waste of money and time.
Does what it says, registered my battery, works without overpriced custom odb2 readers like the other overpriced apps! Seems good, Thanks for now...
Purchased for battery change and to check DPF parameters/regen etc, so will already have saved me a shed load of money in garage bills. Customer support was helpful and quick. If only it could code items like AUX input then it would be more than perfect.
Absolutely amazing app. Had a feeling my dpf was getting blocked so worth the purchase to find out. 70 grams of soot and 100% blocked with a handful of engine error codes as well thrown in. Went for a drive, forced a regen and after a few miles of clouds of smoke soot levels were down. Got home and error codes gone as well. One useful bit of info on the dpf screen would be the capacity limits for soot and Ash in grams.
Service Functions are properly usable now
Bought the pro version of this app for use in conjunction with a carista obd tool to help register a replacement battery. Every time i try I just get a "no response" message when i execute this function. Advice was to select ATWM option in advanced settings but cant find this. Based on developer initial response found another advanced setting that did work. Battery registered. Happy now and review amended to reflect. Thanks
