The British Isles are also known as the Anglo-celtic Isles and include the UK (Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) and Northern Ireland) and Eire. Britain or Great Britain is the name given to the mainland within the United Kingdom (the UK). The UK is the political union between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, not a geographical area. The permissions needed to install the app are only used for the Google Map component and to check the licence on the Google Play store. The internet will only be used if you use the sightings map in the app.

Easy to use. The search function allows you to put in characteristics of birds you've seen and get possible matches. It then gives you information, a picture and a sound segment of the birds to read about. Worked really well for birds i've searched. Would be better with more images for each bird, but you can look up elsewhere. It has a multichoice quiz for ID ing birds which is quite addictive and good for beginners..

It's ok but has some faults. for example there is no mention of a Little Owl, and the photo of the Red Kite does not show its most distinctive feature - its forked tail (the photo shows a very flat fan shaped tail) . I am not yet sure about the family grades but I will give it a try to see how it goes. Like another contributer I'm looking forward to the Collins version.

It's OK for browsing pictures of birds but it is missing some information that would make it better such as differences in winter vs summer plumage, maps of where they're found during different seasons and the ability to tick off sightings within the bird information page.

I love this app for helping me identify that bird I can't see but can hear, very rewarding! There's enough information to inform you so that if you want to know more you have the wherewithal to do so. Perfect for my needs, I hope it is kept up-to-date for more modern phones as it would be a shame for it to stop working on newer models.

Android is poorly served with bird ID apps. This is probably the best of a weak bunch. Where is the redwing? The overlap between this app and the Bird Song ID app is so great that I would not recommend buying the latter (which, alas, I did). You might also consider UK Birds but I have serious reservations about this, too.

It's a great ap for ID ing birds especially if you can't see them only hear them but it could do with having more references as there are lot's of birds still missing. And not all of their songs are recorded. But I am sure it will get there in time.

Pretty comprehensive set of bird descriptions. Wish some of the bird song was a bit better (I live in the Wirral and I'm sure Curlews sound a bit more tuneful, for example) but hard to fault now I know what the blue icon is for (thanks Jessica). Recommended.

Paid & downloaded the App. Opened it & it flagged "this app was for an older version of Android" every time I opened a different screen. Uninstalled & refunded. Pity, it looked just what I wanted.

Great app for anyone that wants to find out exactly which bird your actually looking at, only one fault the bird songs are a bit too short, should be double the length, I think anyway well worth downloading

Excellent source of information when out on walks etc., all in the convenience of a mobile phone.

Quite good but I find bird families of one member only (eg Wrens, Barn Owls) rather odd and unhelpful. Why not Barn Owl in family Owls? The quizz is far too easy when the three to choose from always have two which can be ruled out instantly. I ran up a score of 300 successive correct answers in 5 mins and I am no expert! How about a more advanced quizz without suggestions or the option not to show suggestions initially?

Very good and easy to use. Needs updating on some species. Great White Egret is more populous than stated and is seen regularly, even this winter, along the Tame Valley in the West Midlands. As are Little Egrets.

Great app. Love the bird finder functionality. Perfect to whip out when on a walk and do some bird-nerding.

I've used a similar app on my iPad called chirp. I find the user interface easier to use on bird id. Good piece of software. Informative and accessible 👍

I really like this app. I'm a real novice bird enthusiast and have identified a few birds already in the first week. It's really handy that you don't need internet for it to function, as if you take your phone in the wilderness

For the cost of almost nothing, not bad but lacking detailed information. You only get what you pay for but it's okay for holiday usage when in Europe..

Great little app. Use it to spot the array of birds i get in my garden and when out and about. Not had any problems with it todate. Thank you 👌🏼

Love this tool with its handy % system for identifying a sighting from the list of likely options. Inclusion of so much information about each species is really helpful in making an accurate identification.

Being on the phone means I can check when I'm out of range. The sound is great as you hear more than you see.

Great app, my only criticism is sometimes there's only one picture for each bird so makes identification difficult.
