Bitdefender USSD Wipe Stopper

The operating system your smartphone is running may be vulnerable to USSD commands that could wipe your entire phone. Tapping on a link to a cleverly coded web page could order you phone to reset itself to factory settings and disintegrate all your private data with it.
Any Android phone running Phone.apk v 4.1 or lower is at risk and that's the broader base of them. Install Bitdefender's USSD Wipe Stopper to protect against such attacks. Now, once you would tap on a exploiting link, Bitdefender will intercept the wipe command and ask you to decide what to do next. You may, if unsure, dismiss the USSD command.

Thanks. This and firewalls ect. are the only real security that works. Antivirus apps really are of limited use especially on Android systems due to running in sandboxes. And without Root & a knowledge of the OS & Linux this isn't a self fix. So to be captain obvious this needs to be installed before you download your favorite browser or open the email app on your new device.
It works very well. It's very easy to set up but you do have to make sure that the "use by default" action is ticked. However it completely removes the "option" to run USSD codes. Some people might prefer to have an option. I think complete removal of the option is a good thing because it is foolproof. Until the reset exploit is fixed through a firmware update I think completely removing the risk is best. The USSD Wipe stopper "dialler" does not appear in the list of diallers for regular phone numbers. The list of regular diallers - such as phone and Skype - is thus not cluttered.
This app "does not require any special permissions". Thanks, you rarely see that phrase.
I was vulnerable, now fixed.
But I don't think it works on Incredible 4g. Also target higher API. Soft menu should not be shown.

Thanks for this simple to use wipe stopper. If your phone is still vunerable you really need to use this software.
Won't run on HTC Sensation 4G even though it says my device is vulnerable and compatible.

Before this app, my phone was attacked by Factory Reset ussds 7 times! Thanks BD. But I am using BD Mobile Security too. Is it includes this feature?
