BitGym: Virtual Cardio Tours

Ok, this is an edit from my previous post! They reached out to me and after some digging were able to find what the problem was! I really appreciate them contacting me to rectify the situation! I am going to give it another try, I really have missed it! It's great for people that have to have other things to focus on then just taking steps!

I absolutely love this app. Lately though, it has been freezing up several times during my workout. Many times I have had to just shut it down altogether. Please fix this. Thanks.

This app would be perfect if they just added cadence sensor support. The video stream glitches alot and is off most the time compared to my sensor. I would pay for the monthly subscription if this was added.

I would highly recommend this app! I've been with BitGym for a few years and especially this time of the year, I use it all the time. When it's cold outside, I move my workouts inside more and use this with the treadmill and bike. I love going all over the world weather I feel like urban vs nature or even cold vs hot. I have even used the app prior to trips to get ideas (Zion, Grand Canyon, Santorini, Cabo, etc. It's also fun to do them when I return and want to escape back to a trip. I also take it on trips when I hit gyms and want to get into the zone. They are also quick to respond to any support issues or questions. Again, I would highly recommend!

Solid features, surprisingly smooth UI for what it's doing behind the scenes

Love it. I struggled for years trying to find the motivation to workout. This app has me hooked! Just wish it had connections to cadence sensors I just bought one for my stationery bike and would love to connect it.

This is a great app, and the developer is incredibly responsive. It asks for camera permission. I thought that was inappropriate and let the developers know. They contacted me and explained how it used. It uses the front camera to get your RPM. It works totally on your device and doesn't save or send any data. The camera focuses on my head and upper body. It doesn't see my legs at all. The RPM is within 1 or 2 of the RPM showing on my device. It's VERY cool how they can do this. The course moves very smoothly. I have tried apps where it doesn't move at all, or moves very choppily. This one is beautiful. As I said in the beginning, it's a great app and a great developer. It is definitely worth a try.

I've used BitGym for quite a while now and it's only become more important in my day to day life since gyms have closed down. It's great to "get out" while stuck at home. It makes running on the same treadmill an experience I actually look forward to now. I actually cast the app to my TV I have in front of my treadmill and put my phone in my pocket so it counts for steps in other apps (I use Zombies Run for additional motivation!) I would love to see less device-centric features, specifically, I would love a Roku channel to play on my TV directly. I know that sacrifices the camera-based speed feature, but I'm totally OK with that. Thank you!

I've been using BitGym for several years now on the treadmill. It's been both fantastic and a pain in the arse. The buffering is something I've experienced on numerous occasions while in the middle of high intensity training. Other days it has lived up to it full potential. Its never been bad enough for me to cancel though. But the buffering issues really do need to be worked out. Thanks BitGym!

Absolutely love bitgym. I've been using regularly for several months and I really enjoy the variety of immersive tours, guided hikes and guided rides. My favorite part is the cardio coach sessions. Absolutely beautiful scenery. I would love to see some tours from Eastern Canada. It's the only app that has kept me wanting to use my spinning bike and treadmill regularly. I also love that you can download the tours in advance if needed and also display on a TV. Highly recommend!

Thorough design with ambitious use of technology. I'm impressed. However, I can't rewind or fast forward the tour video, which is essential when the connection is temporarily broken and the streaming gets stuck. It would be nice to be able to restart the tour and jump directly to the interrupted position.

The app is well built and works great on a treadmill, but the high monthly fee is very disappointing, considering that you can use alternatives like treadtv for free. I would rather pay a one time fee then to be chained to a monthly obligation. has potential but let's be honest nobody likes the pay per month membership.

This is a good quality video immersive app that I use currently on the free version. I will upgrade if each session can be extended from the current maximum of approx 35 mins to an hour or more. I run a lot and usually 10k distances or more and if that can be incorporated into each run then I would absolutely subscribe. Great looking app though. 🎽🏃‍♂️😀

I like Bitgym. I downloaded it at the start of the first lockdown as a replacement for my gym sessions. I used it initially on a static bike and projected to a bigger screen using Chrome cast. I enjoyed being able to cycle different routes throughout the world and learn things from the little bits of information that pop up en route. I then purchased a treadmill and started running some of the routes. I would highly recommend this app.

I understand that it uses your front camera to detect movements but it doesn't keep my spin bike speed correctly to the app. My bike speed can be 10 but the app is 0 and not doing anything or my bike can be at 4 and the app is at 40. I removed the app.

Love this app. Tons of different workouts/tours for all abilities, all around the world. The coached workouts and cardio sessions are really motivational and good feedback from the coaches themselves through the Facebook page. Really good value for money with the paid version with new workout/tours coming on regularly. Only 4 stars because of the lack of a search by tour name function, fix this and I'll definitely rate 5 stars.

Used it twice and it locked me out of all but one video..How can you decide if you want to subscribe on 20 minutes of use. $10 a month seems a bit steep to use this app but I may have got sucked in had I actally had more time to see how it all worked..It would not hurt to leave 10 videos up to let people get a feel for it. If they like it they may just send you some money....

Recently came back to running after a very long hiatus and was hating all the timed walk run apps while I get my running base back. Started wondering why I wanted to run again. Tried this app. The scenery in this app is fantastic! I pair a walk/run with some new age music and I'm no longer praying for 30 minutes to end, I'm enjoying it and remembering why running can be so cathartic again. Love that the pace matches my speed. Very happy!

great app! before I found this working out was just too boring and I was constantly looking at my distance and time on the treadmill screen wishing it was over! now using this app my workout goes so much faster and makes it fun. I don't usually write reviews unless the app impresses me!! it's definitely worth the $7.99 mo. to unlock everything! BTW if you have trouble with buffering just download it and play it offline it worked for me

I really enjoy this app, however, there is not that many tours so I have used all of them and it is starting to become a drag to visit the same place. Having a new area to run to is something I always look forward to and the new scenery keeps me motivated but there hasn't been any new tours uploaded yet so I am hoping a few new ones will pop up soon and when/if they do it will be worth the 5 stars and the monthly subscription that I feel is totally worth it otherwise.

I love so much about this app. I've used it several times now. You have no idea how much it helps when the scenery is passing at your pace, until you have that capability. I have had buffering issues a few times. The fact that you can't move the video forward, or back, is kind of annoying, but I figure that that's a minor inconvenience. I wish that they had an option to just purchase the routes you want, instead of having to pay a monthly fee to use them.

Its a good app the only thing i would critise is the downloads. If u lose connection u have to start from the beginning which is a pain considering the size of the downloads. The tours are informative and enjoyable and the coaching is great ! Pls fix so it doesnt lose progress on the download if its stopped or freezes.

Superb! CHROMECAST **DOES** WORK if you mirror your whole Android screen, luddites! Google it! Unlike NordicTrack iFit's artificial pace/speed, this immersive app responds dynamically to *MY* pace and speed. This app has far more immersion and amazing cities and vistas at half the price. I do wish it would give elevation cues so we could manually follow the trail slopes, but having a travel speed that responds instantly to *my* pace changes, while in a real living world with sound is AWESOME!

Love this app so much, lots of free stuff to do and add ons if needed. Feels like you're really there and the guided tours are fab. Makes exercising indoors so much better 🌏😍

Literally just tried the free version - just for a minute. My row machine is nothing fancy and well since it's basic this app makes my experience on my machine one that I never thought I would have. I got lost in the scenery and feel I am literally there and don't want to stop rowing. I literally fell in love with my "basic" machine because of how true BitGym makes my experience. Thank you,makers of BitGym!!! 4stars for now. Havent tried all the features.

Love this app so much. Have you considered coming to South Africa? There is so many beautiful places and trails you can shoot at...the opportunities are endless. One thing I would consider, is maybe if the nature sounds of the app and phone music player playing can be set at different volume levels, so that you can play your own style music bit softer in the background and here the nature sounds of the app above the music?

Couldn't afford a fully integrated smart trainer, but this app totally solved that. Very clever indeed, I look forward to future updates.
