My winter (and occasional summer) training go-to. The simulator has continuously evolved over the few years I have been using it to the point of being almost perfect; a dash of colour for the in-game bots and the option to customise bike/helmet/shoes as well as kit would enhance the experience even further. I enjoy being able to upload my own routes and riding them in 3D. A few glitches like floating trees in 3D mode need ironed out.
Seems impossible to start the subscription. On first login it asks for a validation code that is sent by email. By the time the email arrives the login has timed out and a new code is required, which doesn't arrive on time. Support is non existent.
BKOOL worked great with spin bike and Wahoo Cadence sensor for almost a year now. However, the new update on January 30th won't let me use just the cadence sensor anymore. It now requires a speed sensor, which is almost impossible to attach to my spin bike. I attached it to my crank, but that doesn't rotate fast enough. Avatar moved 1 mph. I know the speed obviously wasn't accurate with just the cadence sensor, but if I pedaled faster, my guy would go faster, so it worked good enough. Any fix?
Why no ability to Cast? ive paid for this for 3yrs and nothing - SORT IT OUT! - now i can't Cast due to a fone update, i can't use the application - so, effectively, i won't be renewing the subscription - there're plenty of others arent there bkool ie ZWIFT..
Galaxy fold. Struggles to connect to my wahoo ... anything. Can't see a way of connecting to strava. UI is hard to use on the fly.
Good app but most of the time can't connect to trainer when you open the app. And also disconnects when receiving phone calls. Update: subscribe again after one year, still the same problem losing connection at the middle of the ride. No improvement at all.
I use this for the spin classes. A few suggestions: make the countdown for the current section bigger. And also make bigger the analogue display which shows your cadence within the target range (the vertical line with the white dot in the middle)
They have ruined what was a good app with this upgrade. Video lags, gradient changes are so far out of sync as to be pointless. Awful experience. Update 24th September. Still awful. I'm pedalling as hard going downhill as uphill. Resistance is all over the place. Speed bears no resemblance to reality. Please sort this out. The previous version wasnt perfect but at least it worked
This app is terrific! There's an amazing amount of content, and it's proven to be much more stable than other smart trainer apps for me. There's even a recovery mode if you end up somehow disconnecting from your ride, so you can resume without losing your data. The routes are very responsive, and translate well to inputs for the smart trainer. There are so many routes as well. All in all, it's a great app. Cheers to the Bkool team : )
Initially, it was a great alternative to Zwift. Unfortunately, now the app loses its connection every time I start it up and even when it reconnects, it has a very difficult time connecting to my speed and cadence sensors. I see than an Android update is coming, so I'm hopeful that fixes these challenges I'm having before my free trial ends so I have the opportunity to try it out.
I've created a new subscription and I cannot access the software. The help system is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. First impressions, not good Second impressions - it too 90 mins of messing about and I got some connectivity. There is so much detail on the small screen its not much use. As a newbie to this type of software, I dont recommend it, AVOID :(
Potentially a great app but why can't I do anything through the app accept choose from a few routes, have to go to Web site to schedule workouts or rides, the app just seems a waste of time, can't even view your activities, everything you need you have to go back on the website. I'm on a free trial and definitely won't be paying for it unless everything is accessible via the app. I enjoy the rides but the app is lacking in so many departments. Also connectivity is a huge problem.
Doesn't allow me to connect ANT sensors - says it needs permissions. Great, no problem, although usually that's done during the first launch. Nevermind. So I go to settings, and the only permission available to turn on or off for it is storage. So what am I supposed to do now? Straight into the bin, and I'll cancel the subscription. The PC version also has connectivity problems - there's a theme there. And those sensors work without a glitch with the same devices under other apps like Wahoo.
Good enough app with quirks. I have the book bike, as well, so the combo is similar to peloton but half the price. It's odd that the fitness app is a completely separate app. It never connects to my HRM, though it finds the HRM no problem. I always have to login three times to connect to the server. Quirks are all minor annoyances, nothing that prevents me from working out. Constant updates, so it seems the devs take feedback and actively improve the product. Decent variety of routes.
Not the best first impression. I had lots of problems with sensors connection (not an issue when I use Zwift) and when finally I managed to start a ride, it just got stuck at "processing" (it's been like that for a few hours and still nothing changed). I expected to get an alternative to Zwift and it's just troubled with technical issues.
Since the update I can't log-in on my Pixel 4. The on screen keypad doesn't appear. The above had now been fixed. The rest of my review remains relevant. Overall the app is good but could be better. There are a lot of courses and events going on. The velodrome maps are a great touch. I would like to see more training development. Ideally instead of using the column chart styled training it should be represented on roads with Avatars as pace makers.
Pros: shows you stats, calories burned, ascent percentage, time and Kilometers left. Cons : the app is not user friendly, Bluetooth keeps disconnecting so it doesn't always upload the completed route to Strava, you can't download the app on mac so you can only use your phone to watch the ride, app is often unresponsive, every level, no matter which country or city you pick, looks the same. You might as well just have one route. Trying out the 30 day free trial but then will definitely cancel.
Only tried a simple ride. The font is far too small to use on a phone and the slightest problem with the connection causes the app to freeze. It is very unresponsive and often needs a phone restart to clear the screen. Now to see if the PC app is any better. Downgraded to 1star. Very unresponsive. Does not respond to keypresses, which makes it almost impossible to use.
The core functionality is pretty good. It pairs well with your BLE sensors, the ride interface works quite well, and software stability is passable. Unfortunately, it's a direct port of a desktop application, so the (required) login/registration screen is non-native. When you press any field, a separate field opens at the bottom of the screen. You're also missing integrations with other apps like Google Fit. Freedom units unsupported. Music autoplays & requires menu navigation to disable.
The app is very good, it has many options of cycling, I particularly like the pre recorded routes, it gives me an interest when riding indoors, I also like competing against other riders. There is a downside to the company though.. Very unprofessional, they will update the platform you're running without warning, so one day you won't be able to run the software. Don't pay up front for a year's subscription. Be warned.
I ended up using it while searching for Zwift alternatives. Zwift seemed so messy, full with unnecessary things. Bkool is clear, pairing sensors works smoothly and the apps remembers them. Data is simple and concise, showing live and average info. Animations, video footage and maps are great. There are a lot of real life rides to try. Don't have smart rollers or simply dislike slopes? Don't want wind or weather? Would rather ride alone? This and more can be changed. You even have a 30day trial.
I have a Bkool Pro 2 I have not had any other so I cannot make any comparison ... it always had connection problems with my computer until the latest software updates when these problems were fixed ... now I am using the Android app and it gives me again connection problems through the Bluetooth connection, the worst thing is not being able to connect the Garmin heart rate sensor. In the help to solve problems I can not find anything
Last year I dabbled with this but my Laptop wasn't up to it. And for 3D it seems rather demanding. So I used Zwift instead. This year I have a much more powerful laptop and it runs great and connected flawlessly to my Tacx trainer. No issues. I initially tried Zwift but it it didn't connect so I couldn't be bothered messing with it and signed up for Bkool instead.
Very poor, wouldn't let me connect to my device until I subscribed, I subscribed and my tablet wasn't compatible not enough RAM, so never got to use it, but I can't have refund, great way to make money if you can get away with it.
Terrible connectivity. Bluetooth fails all the time, no matter the phone you use. I have lost so many km and info I don't really find it useful for someone who trains and likes to improve.
