Black and Mobile:The Culture Delivered

Black and Mobile is the first delivery service based in Philadelphia to partner with and highlight Black-Owned Businesses. Our focus is to help anyone locate and support Black-Owned Businesses instantly and conveniently.

How it Works:
1. Download our app 'Black and Mobile'
2. Browse through a selection of Black-Owned Businesses in your area
3. Select a business and choose which food you would like to eat
4 Place your order (At checkout use zip code and validate time date and time)
5. A messenger will pick up from the restaurant and drop it off at your door

At checkout, you will see a "Local Delivery tab" where it asks for a zip code. This will validate whether or not you are eligible to receive a delivery! Our service area is five miles from the restaurant. If your zip code is available, you will then be prompted to select the date and time for your delivery! For example, if it is after 3 pm when you are trying to order, then you automatically will have to select the next hour's time frame. If your zip code is unavailable, you will not be able to checkout from that particular restaurant!

*Black and Mobile only delivers within a five-mile radius from the restaurant! This means that if you are 5.1 miles from the restaurant, we have the right to refund you for your order. *In some cases, we may take orders over the five-mile threshold.

*There is a $15 minimum to order

When selecting food, items may have options to select from like sides, toppings or more. Please select the amount stated that are available to choose from.

All supporters will receive a live tracking link so they can watch their orders in real-time from the time of the pick up to your front door. Use our tracking system to know exactly when the driver will arrive to your door! With text message notifications, the ability to call and text the driver, and with our team watching over the route in real-time, we ensure that your food will get to your door safely and in a timely manner. You will be able to tip and rate your driver afterward so we can know how your experience was and to keep our best drivers on the road!

1. This app is in need of redesign visually. Most of the items have no photo of what the food looks like. Get someone to take photos. 2. Many times I have tried to order food from BAM and I cannot because there is no menu appearing when I tap on any of the available businesses. Instead it just says "no items found". So there is a software bug that needs to be addressed. 3. You have got to make it easier to tip couriers I have attempted and failed too many times to tip. Build it into the app!

It won't allow me to put in my address which is weird since ive ordered with them before. Trying to support but getting frustrated Update: I've done what they've asked and the same issue is still happening. Responding to you're comment, whatever version you have available in the playstore is what I've installed. It's simply not working, and I see I'm not the only one having the same issue. I love the idea and would love to support but the app just doesn't work for me. It gets stuck at loading the cart. I can select a restaurant and order items but when I hit the button to go to the cart, it just sits on the loading cart screen. I've read other reviews and see that it's not an isolated issue. I've Uninstaller and reinstalled app several times on several devices. I contacted support but and was told they would notify the developer. I'll keep checking back to see if it's resolve.

Not good ar all. Can't place an order from ANY of the restaurants in Detroit. Every time I try to pay, it directs me to select a location and time for pick up. But in trying to get it delivered and if soon wind even let me choose the only option it's giving me. I was really excited about this app and now that I have it in very disappointed. Totally useless for me. I tried to wait for you to get the kinks out but.... Only one local restaurant even had ANY pictures.

EDIT: Just downloaded the new app and it's much improved! Just want to flag an error with the new iteration of the app that I've been experiencing (and it could just be me/my Android phone): When I clicked on something to order, I got a message saying, "We are facing some difficulty in loading the product you selected." (This is for Philadelphia restaurants, btw.) The previous app had some trouble with checkout, so I'm hoping the new app and my phone can get along eventually!

Ordered from this app a couple of times. The 1st time it took 3 hours to have my food delivered. I still waited because I ordered early in the day for dinner. The next few times the service/delivery was perfect (except the one time my order was all pused to the side of the containers because of the way the delivery person rode with it on his bike) The last 3 times I tried to order the screen gets stuck on 'loading your cart' I've uninstalled and re-installed the app twice. Still no change.

The app could use a little work. There is no ETA provided on the app. Also, you can't assume that every restaurant that pops up on the app will be able to deliver to you. You have to calculate whether or not you are within a 5 mile radius from the restaurant, as the app does not do this automatically. However, the app is starting to look very nice. The Black and Mobile team was very responsive and apologetic for the kinks that need to be worked out. My food was great. Will be using again!

Too many problems with this app. I really like the concept and supporting black businesses but how can I continue supporting when there have been constant problems with the application over the last few months?. Restaurants not loading unless I go through the search option. Then, when I'm finally able to select a restaurant, and I order.. I can't check out because it won't load my cart. Fix the issues, otherwise the app is pointless and useless.

I'm really trying to use this app. I would love to give my people a play. But the glitches are too much. I tried to create an account it said my email is already used. I try to log in, and it goes blank. I cant access anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and I'm getting the same results. Imma try this again without trying to log in and that's it for me.

Disappointed. I have tried to place an order twice on two separate occasions. One was canceled after an hour. The next was canceled immediately. I did not receive a text or email when the second order was canceled. The app also did not have a notification that the order was canceled. Why aren't order updates available in the app? I had to click the link in the email to get an update. This service is not reliable enough to be used for lunch if you are working.

So far so good. Each restaurant needs to have rankings that we can see, provide input. I tried using this app at the start of the pandemic and it was awful. Much improved experience. Slick, clear, and food looks delicious. (Philly)

I want to support black business so bad and i get food delievered nearly everyday so I was excited when I found this app. But the range of the delivery from the resturants is absurdly low, to the point where it would easier if i went to get the food myself so whats the point of using your service. Please expand the range that you are willing to delivery food

This app needs major work. Haven't been able to actually place an order for days, I keep receiving the "Oops we are facing some difficulty..." error when attempting to order anything in Philadelphia. No matter how good the intent, if the primary function of the app can't be used then the app as a whole is worthless.

I received a notification to update the app however there is no update available. When I Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, no food or menus can be found and it's the same platform as below. Also, please demand that all restaurants put detailed descriptions of their items in addition to photos. I'm hesitant to guess what I'm ordering and many of them have no website or social media pages to research the products on.

Just looking at the restaurants in the Detroit area and some of them have pictures or descriptions of the food. It doesn't show how far the delivery radius is. This is an excellent idea but the app needs a more detailed information.

So my order was just cancelled out of the blue. With no explanation and according to the customer service rep they have nothing at all to do with the fact that the restaurants cancel customers orders. Why be affiliated with black-and mobile when you can just do whatever you want and the customer will be left in the dark. I really wanted to support BAM for the Detroit area, but it looks like that won't be happening. It was just my bad luck and evening it looks like.

Hey, black app developer here with some constructive comments. You're doing way too many push notifications for things that aren't important. Try to opt for an in app alert message instead or put a notification badge on the menu. Look into using the location services API so I don't order something from Philly when I actually live in Detroit. Your "contact us" link is broken in the About section.. so I had to write a review in order to give ya'll some constructive feedback on the app.

I live in Atlanta and I was excited to try this app when I read an article in the AJC about this company being available here. I downloaded the app and immediately saw that Atlanta was not setup for ordering. I periodically checked in with the app before I would use Door dash or any of the other competitors and still Atlanta was not added to the app. Now the last couple if times I checked it was just a black screen. I've updated and still the same problem. I really want to support. Please fix

I'm tryna support my peoples but I can't be paying 50 dollars for a plate of some skimpy sub par food and for it to come 2 hours later. I think if we give this app a little more time to work out the issues it's gonna be great. And also maybe try adding other restaurants too would be convenient like burger King and stuff so we got more options

My first time ordering from the app was responsive and a varied menu selection. Ordering some delicious dinner and dessert for my wife and son, I was able to follow my order and transactions easily. Was even contacted when I ordered from two separate establishments which is against protocol and was issued a refund and re-ordered and have my food delivered and a timely fashion. I was very impressed and proud to utilize this application.

Does BAM no longer partner with any Detroit area restaurants? I've had 1 fairly good experience with this app and one terrible experience. I uninstalled the app. Today, I received an email asking me to essentially try it again and I did only to see that there are no restaurants available in my location. ??????????????

I want to love it but it just not work. Atlanta was supposed to be added but still not available. I tried to do the update, that didn't work; so I uninstalled the app and downloaded it again still not working. I contacted them and was told Atlanta is up and running but it's not 🤷🏾‍♀️.

I downloaded the app for the first time just before the update. The app has been updated, but I receive notifications saying the app needs to be updated. Also, everything I click on says "no products found." I want to give this business a chance, please fix the app.
