Needs the option to download over mobile data. Bought two books while I was at work and found out it wouldn't allow me to download at all because there was no wifi. a lot of people have enough data to not care about downloading a book. Regularly closes the book if paused for a while meaning you need to pull your phone out multiple times to pick your book manually again.
The app gives you a nice place to access your collection. However there are some major issues. If you are listening to it while driving and have Google Maps on, it will stop the audio when google gives you directions. You will have to hit play each time it stops. Also if you stop it and close your phone it clears the now playing, but leaves the notification bar that gives you the option to play what you were listening to. The play button at this point does nothing. These issues need to be fixed.
I've downloaded the app intermittently but the problem I face is that the app drains my battery even after I've left the app. The only thing I can say it does well is facilitate the listening to audiobooks and dramas that I don't have in my Audible library. Then again, the technical issues are more important. I hope they fix them soon.
App works great for me. Only negative thing I have to say about it is that some of the books don't have the chapters separated, so if I stop listening I have to make a note of the timestamp to find where I was again. Other than that, great app. Never had any issues. Unsure what other reviews are talking about saying it doesn't transfer to new phones, all my purchases came across just fine.
It doesn't even do the one thing well that it is designed for; playing content has about a 1 in 3 chance of working, and then will stop at a moments notice. Trying to cast the audio to another device? Better hope you rolled 5+, or watch this app die. If you're looking for a way to get and manage Black Library content, this app 'aint it.
If they add a audio book queue and improve some of the lower level functions such as the search engine having more targeted search options and its power consumption this would be a 5* easy. The audio book selection is really good though and it's updated regularly which is also a plus. A rating system for users would help people find the books they're more interested in faster.
Not a bad little app, only complaints is even if you're not listening to anything the app inserts itself into your notifications with a resume button that doesn't work, and also the last few minutes of every book don't play - they're there, I can move the timeline to them but when I hit play it plays a split second and then skips back to chapter 1. Bit frustrating.
This app is both good and fustrating. Its good because what it does (give you 40K books in an audio format) is really good and solid I never have an issue with this app freezing or anything. Whats bad is that its missing alot of key features to make it more user friendly. Not complex things, just basic things like being able to search their catalog by author, or having some of the books in collections lists like the Guant's Ghost novels or Cain novels. But, again it works. Just need tweaks.
It's a bit basic at the moment, but it works. It's a bit inconvenient to skip between chapters and doesn't have all that many comfort options. Links to the other GW apps don't seem to work at all. Has a bit higher power usage than my podcasting apps. There's room for improvement.
A decent app, but only real reason to use is that there are audio books on here not available through audible. Biggest issue causing it to be 2 stars is that it gives no option to download stuff when you aren't on wi-fi. I shall out for unlimited data, I shouldn't be blocked by an app. As it is, unless they change things, I likely wont be purchasing much at all after Sons of the Selenar.
Not a bad app, but I do have two things to note. If I get a notification of any kind, it pauses the book and won't start itself up again (on a Pixel 3A), and I'd love it if there was a sleep timer introduced! Something to fall asleep to and set for 30 minutes or so would be great.
Some of the downloads are corrupted, for example my download of "rebirth" has skips in playback and the chapter menu is blank. Needs more menu/settings options too maybe a better sorting/filtering set up especially for series and book order. But all in all as a Warhammer fan it's a must download APP! "The Emperor protects"
Had this app for a long time and had built up a beautiful library and had nothing but praise....until I got a new device. Nothing I do lets me transfer all my purchases, cloned them over and they appear for 5 minutes then disappear mid-use. And the restore button just sits there, useless. I didn't spend all that money for it to be disposable. If I can't resolve it then I'll just delete and have done with.
Decent over all. Two main gripes: It won't allow downloads without wifi (I work on the road so it's really inconvenient I can't buy a new audio drama while out and about) second, BATTERY DRAIN when not in use or own. 43.7% of my battery was drained today from this app and I haven't opened it in a few days!
I like the idea of the app as well as supporting Games Workshop. The App is in DESPERATE need of an update. The things that can be fixed & obvious things that should be added are not the point. They do, however, make it difficult to continue support. I still do & will continue to, only because I have a modicum of faith that one day... they'll address these issues and the App becomes as capable as The Adeptus Astartes. FOR THE EMPEROR AND SANGUINIUS!
This is obviously just a money grab for Games Workshop. They've put next to no effort into its actual use. There is no Settings to work with. Notifications stop whatever you're listening to immediately. No way to control the book without having to go directly to the app itself. No organization for your Library. And no way to search books for your favorite factions. And barely anything to use to search for your favorite series. I won't spend another dollar on this until some major updates.
*No option to download over mobile data. *Incoming message alerts stops playback completely. Very frustrating. *App opens in the notification bar randomly after being closed for a few hours. (Samsung S8) Only downloaded because a book was 99p. Will be uninstalling immediately after I'm finished.
So Annoying! Even when I pause a story or close the app and swipe the playing story away then the rest of the day at varying times the story will pop back up on my phone and start trying to play with a image half the size of my screen so I'll swipe it away but nope won't even swipe away for the first 20 attempts. Again the pop-up still happens the next day and so on until I eventually uninstalled app just for peace.
First of all the books are cheaper on audible. Also i have bought most of the shorts previously but cant transfer to this app. I play them on i tunes instead so this app is basically useless.. i would change my opinion if a you buy books for credits like audible so a book is £7 not £26 and you have access to purchases done from account previously.
False advertising. You don't receive the actual files. You would be better off buying the files on the black library website where you at least receive mp3 copies. If you buy on this app you can only play the files in this app and there is no other way to access them. Not a good value
So frustrating. Notifications stop the audio and it's very unreliable. One day it plays perfectly and then not at all. And this has been happening well before the lockdown if you're thinking that's an excuse for such poor service.
This app is horrendous. It's constantly closing the audio book, forcing me to pull my phone out and re-select it. Almost always it's starting up minutes off from where it should be. Anytime I get a message I have to start it up again it doesn't auto play. What a totally frustrating app. Use Audible. Its such a superior exper5.
