BlackPlanet - Meet New People

In the wake of all that is going on I was searching for a black owned social media sight I might be able to recommend to friends as an alternative to Facebook. Although black owned it would be hard to recommend this as an alternative when the application and website are so antiquated and poorly done. I was surprised that rather than improving it seemed to be a worse experience than it was a decade ago. I'd love to see it updated, improved, and marketed properly. Until then...no.

Starting at the log-in, it has problems. I created my account on the web using FB but the app doesn't have the same log-in capabilities as the web based page. Come on with the overdue update, because if your app doesn't work well, your site won't have much traffic.

Unfortunately the app is still the same as the website was more than 10 years back. Tried to log in and failed multiple times when I did all I found was a confusing interface. Not sure if it's ready to take on Facebook as yet.

There are so many things wrong with this app but the main issue is that I don't receive any notifications of messages on any device I have. This has been going on like 2 years now. And yes my notifications are enabled on the phone & in the app. Ready to delete.

this app deserves 0 stars. EVERYTHING needs to be redone... the logo, color palette, the ads.. just the entire front end, it looks like the everyone's photos were taken with an iPhone 4 in 2009, so i'm sure the back end is a mess too. idk who the target market is, but rn I dont feel like it's me. I heard Black people were doing something so I came running, if this thing isn't rebuilt from the foundation up please stop associating this product with Black people because right now this is shameful.

Really needs to be updated in a lot of areas. Mobile app never works properly. Always saying that you have reached a daily limit to whatever. Need a better way to delete things. Who exactly is Interactive One, definitely not the same owners as before. Because this use to be a great site.

Severe update needed for the app. You are better off using the mobile site. PROBLEMS (at least for me) 1Can't customize your page 2The yellow background is ugly 3Too many big ads, I don't mind ads but have them "fixed" off to the side or at the top of the page somewhere not all in our face. 4Nearby tab no longer works. 5Too many bots need better antibody firewall 6. Needs to update timeline feed real time There are a lot of old posts up. 7. Can't delete old posts from app.

I just signed back on last night after like 3 years ..and it seems like the system moves slow my picture get turned sideways ....certain things dont load up completely... I think it's time for a major update the whole site ....and the app ... I'm getting late messages notifications smh

Too many spam ads popping up and their blocking push buttons. This is very frustrating. I see where the app's last update was in 2016 Please bring us up to speed. we're running on tetris mode in here.

This is offensively pathetic. Seems like Black Planet is deliberately limiting the Black unity net experience. The kinks in the app can be combed out easily. Blackplanet is supporting other social networks more than their own website. My antivirus did not trust it. They really need upgrade.

I want so bad to give this app 5 stars but barely anything works. Can't search, filters don't apply, can't use the new people tab, won't sort into local people. Worst of all, the app constantly shuts down. I'm here now because I have been getting an error message for 2 days now.

The absolute worst app. I thought it would be nice to stop using Facebook and connect with my community but this app is not reliable. One day I log in and it's functional. The next day it isn't, says I don't have notes when I clearly did the day before, says I don't have a profile although it let me log in. The only tab that always work is the outdated chatrooms. Keep looking because BP is not it.

Its great that one of the biggest platforms of social Media is back.. well sort of. Upon the Solange takeover BlackPlanet has truly dropped the ball on this one. This could have been a greater movement. The app and profile is VERY LIMITED.... GIFs aren't allowed in the chatrooms nor postings. It's way too many scammers and CATFISH on the site. The Solange wave died, so the site isn't fun nor exciting. Fun while it lasted. All in all.. I did converse with amazing Kings & Queens.

The app doesn't function properly. It isn't user friendly and it definitely doesn't promote social interaction. If you like look at me only types of platforms this is perfect.

why is blackplanet app only have the option for zipcode. The rest of world don't use zipcode, eg Canada. Canada use postal code. if you are trying to reach a larger black community, expand beyond America. Because of this issue I am unable to use the app. I bet I am one of the many. Rate it 2 star

Used to enjoy this app when it 1st came out. Now it is SERIOUSLY due for an upgrade lol. The darn note message session once a conversation has been started with someone, the box is so darn SMALL to type or edit in lol. This app only deserves a 3 or less star rating. Please give us an upgrade!

Admin team are useless. They ignore ALL messages to them. Not been able to log into my account for years yet every 2 mins I get notification updates! Not sure why they won't help me. Terrible poor abysmal service. The worst!

App doesn't even work. Site doesn't work either. Keep trying to go to my account to delete it and it can't be done. I can't even see my profile or anyone else's. Not safe. I added a blank image. Was the best I could do.

needs a super update.. I like BP..but it's out dated. I'm trying to hang on as long as I can. but I need to he able to do a little more than this. is there any time frame as to when we can expect a 2019 update..

Soooo I downloaded the app, tried to login and it just keeps crashing as soon as I hit login. Tried to reinstall, no dice. This app is a POS.

It is kind of slow and posting my status update. Cant even upload a picture on the status update either! If it continues, will uninstall it.

I have closed my account over 2 week ago, it is still active I can go on there at anytime. People are still sending DM, so I decided to repeat to process of closing my account again. When I tried it clearly tell me its been closed but it is even more clearer that it has NOT. I really hope someone from BP respond here. I'M TRAPPED, I DONT FEEL SAFE THERE..PLEASE HELP!!

Can't join if you don't have a USA zipcode. So black people from other countries are effectively excluded from using this app.

I have reset my password and still can login on the mobile app! Keep saying unable to authenticate with no other options to verify that I'm the account holder. Ugh annoying

Terrible interface. Keeps stopping and uses up a lot of phones energy.
