I've loved this app for years on different AOS devices and versions! HOWEVER, recently I've had a lot of problems with the app unexpectedly stopping. My phone is a POS so I thought it was that until I read through other recent reviews. The music will just stop playing at the end of a song. The app notification is gone, and when I reopen the app, "now playing" might be on the same song, sometimes it's the previous one like the app had forgotten it'd been opened since.

Almost perfect, except support seems to have ceased. Display/navigation are clean and intuitive, and there are tons of customizations. However, the playlists feature is buggy—changing the order of a song in a playlist makes it disappear from the playlist randomly. This hasn't been fixed for a while, as this app hasn't been updated by devs in a year. Also, it can't read song lengths on some m4a files that other music players can (shows 0:00). Maybe inflexibility towards missing music headers?

I've used BlackPlayer basically since I first got an Android phone and it's never disappointed. Recently however on my newer devices running Android 11 and especially 12 it's started acting up, not updating new metadata, displaying wrong covers, playing two songs at the same time, pausing and skipping at random. If you're still on Android 10 and below I can recommend it, but anything after that, please search an alternative, with a bit of testing you can find players with the same features.

I've tried a bunch of music apps, and BlackPlayer EX is the most complete for me. It has a ton of customization and options, shows Folder view in a nice way (many don't show with artwork or don't allow Folder view if the music is on an SD Card, if they have Folder view at all) and has a nice overall design, usability and functionality. I'm not sure why this app is below 4 stars as compared to a bunch of other (in my opinion) inferior music players that are above 4 stars. Running on a Sony Xperia 5 ii with Android 11 and all music stored on the SD Card as FLAC, no issues at all.

It is a decent and adequate mp3 app for music but there are a coue of things that could be better such as the tag editing not reverting back to missing tag info and stop turning the volume down when I haven't pressed for the volume to go down via the volume down button (although that could be an issue with the phone and not the app). But, besides these 2 things, it is pretty solid.

I don't what has happen, but this music app is getting worse and worse as time goes on. Album art don't appear half the time,Playlist disappears and generally just runs slow. Haven't seen any meaningful updates in the last year. I'm done with this app. I moved to musicolet.

Not worth the money, just get Musicolet. The notification panel for stopping and starting music in the drag doen menu is non-existent. There is no way to add all the songs on yout phone to a playlist, and the shuffle option repeats songs soo often I wonder how many songs I actually have on my phone. Its highly configurable, but just isnt as good at being a good music playet as Musicolet.

As of December 2021, this seems to have been abandoned by the dev, would not advise buying. Loved this media player, however after upgrading to Android 10, I can no longer add songs to playlists. Switching to the BlackPlayer audio library just makes it forget there's music on my device, and it will not find it no matter what permissions I change or how many times I scan for music. Nothing in the FAQ helps, using a Nokia 6.1. Can't recommend at the moment until this is fixed.

This used to be my all-time favorite music app. For so long, I enjoyed p using this app to play for my customers, including equalizer settings to help enhance the sound for the space I am in. Within the last two months, the app not only began erasing my playlists, it kept bringing back playlists that I deleted a very long time ago. There were also occasions when nothing would play from the app at all. At first, when I would send an email in for help, I would get quick responses from the developer. Sometimes the advice was helpful. Per their advice, I put the settings on auto backup for my playlists, and anytime that I would create a new playlist, I would manually backup the playlists. However, my new playlists would continuously disappear, and playlists that I deleted long ago (including selecting the option to delete the backup file) kept coming back. For awhile, I could click on "restore from backup," and the new lists would return. One day, I spent 10 hours creating brand new playlists (and immediately backed them up). I worked hard on them, fine tuned the equalizer settings, and had playlists that made my customers happy. I worked so hard to create them. I opened the app, and all of them, except for two, were erased. Completely gone. When I clicked on "restore from backup," none of the newer lists came back; only the old lists from long ago that I deleted no less than 30 times each. All of the hours of work, gone. None of the backup files (that previously existed) for the new playlist were there anymore. Just old lists that I can't get to stop coming back, for whatever reason. I sent in two emails to the developer, including one telling them that I was trying to avoid putting up a negative review, and asked for help. Neither email received a reply, so I assume that they no longer care. I am saddened that this app didn't work out, because it was my favorite for so long, but now, I guess I'll have to look for another one.

To be honest, I tried this app quite awhile ago, but didn't really care for it and uninstalled it fairly quick. Either you've drastically improved it since then, or I didn't give it much of a chance. This app is incredible. Has so many useful features that I was able delete 3 other apps that did music file related tasks (music player, tag editor, and wallpaper picker). On top of that, I really like the artist bio page and the Quicklyric integration. And then on top of even that, all of the cool customizations available to the user. Anyway, I'll stop gushing now. Great app!

It's a great music player, it's currently my default. However, I use an different app to change the metadata for songs (since it's much faster) but the music player doesn't recognize the changes. I thought it was just the app but the phone's software recognizes the changes too, but not this player. I was wondering if there was a way to make it recognize the changes rather than having to do them by hand using blacksplayer (my phone has no sd card, all songs are on the phone)

The best phone music app, but I have some issues with it: 1. Sometimes when I play songs from a playlist and the song ends, the next song won't play unless I turn on the display by pressing the power button; but works fine when the display is on. 2. I don't know if this is an issue with this app or Instagram, but when scrolling the feed and a video shows up, the music gets paused no matter if the videos are muted or not. Then I have to unmute and mute the video to continue listening to the song.

I really like the look and customization options, but I've run into a few issues making the app less than user friendly. First off, I frequently have albums that split for no reason and it takes a lot of work to combine them. Second, the quick scroll is more bothersome than helpful, I can't even click the three dots to edit an album on the far right column, because the quick scroll picks it up instead. I would prefer to turn it off, but there is no setting for that. Other than that, not bad.

The Black Player Free music player works like a dream. And it is one of the only ones that I found that works well with m3u playlists. But I bought the "ex' version in order in order to get rid of the ads. It loses the playlists every time I open it and then loads 2 copies every time I restore them from back up (which takes about an additional 4 minutes). It is also impossibly slow loading up folders and other elements of the app. I've reinstalled 5 times with the same result, and support has not been much help.

great music app, I would've given 5 stars but there are a few issues that let it down for me. navigation can be a pain, very different to other apps I've tried, getting to full page with what's playing now can be a pain. Album covers - some are totally wrong and I can't find an easy fix like other apps offer. If there is an Android Auto interface I can't find it, if there isn't, will there be? Otherwise I will stick with it, it has some great features & great sound.

The best music player you can get on Android for both looks and functionality. One major thing is being able to see the queue and edit it. Only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because the search system could be improved. If you type the Title of a song and the Artist as well, it cannot find the song. It only searches in one metadata field. So if I search for "AC/DC Back In Black" it cannot find the song. If you type "Back In Black" it will find it and "AC/DC" it will list all their songs.

A mature, solid player packed with features and it just works. Sound quality is top notch and performance is great. It handles external playlist adeptly and gives you a useful custom lock screen. You'd be surprised how many players can't even do that. If there was one thing I'd like to see is support for direct USB access for DACs, but that's just nitpicking really.

This app is really good, offering a host features that give lots of possibilities for customization. There are two things that I'm missing though (admittedly, both are luxury problems). First, there is no search function for the SETTINGS. With so many different settings to choose from, it's often difficult to find exactly what I'm looking for. Second, there appears to be no way to upload new album covers to the existing album cover library.
