Update Mon 16th May. The latest update hasn't fixed the connection problem, still getting failed to connect. Failed to connect Wi-Fi is all I'm getting from this app. It used to work last year. I've tried so many times to connect and it won't do anything. How do I get the app to work? I've tried reinstalling the app, reset the camera, connect to cloud, taking network off and putting it back on, update the app.
I see somepeople have difficulty with this app but I can't complain. Recently bought/installed (at a well known high Street chain beginning with H) a dr590x-2ch camera. Connects easily to the app and update the camera firmware without issue, all works as intended. I've not downloaded any video/events from the app yet, but it seems straight forward. I've not subscribed to cloud services either but likely will do in the future. I think user issues described by others is down to user error.
App+Android finally fixed so can connect to camera without turning off cellular data, great! However clip transfers sitting next to camera fail 1 out of 5 times on relatively new "high endurance" SanDisk SD cards-- transfer just stops some percentage through and then hangs indefinitely. What gives? Please give the user some help here to either retry in a different fashion or suggest how they can recover the data and prevent that issue going forward.
Dreadful app. Very slow and tempermental. Seems to have significant difficulties in linking to the dashcam, always getting the error message saying that the camera list cannot be retrieved.i cannot view footage as well as a result. I have emailed the support email two days ago but have not heard anything back. The dashcam itself however is very good. Please sort this app out immediately.
The Android app massively lets us down. Every time we want to grab a video in-app, or change a setting, we have to go through this whole rigmarole of reconnecting to the camera. The connection drops if you take too long looking for what you're after, and because saving settings seems to be a batch process ("uploading changes"), this results in losing your changes. I'm considering returning the system as it doesn't seem reliable.
Their camera and what it can do on paper appears to be great. The bug in the software really shows that my budget mini0906 worked great and does not need the software and I only paid 1/5 of the price. I can't access the cloud. What is the point of paying for all the nooks and crannies when all you have is the camera that you can't even view videos on the camera and you need to access a really buggy software.
This app is a bit of a nightmare and is extraordinarily expensive considering how unreliable the functionality is. Don't buy these cameras if you want cloud functionality. I'm stuck with them now Notifications: either get spammed with them or turn them off..adjusting things like collision sensitivity seems to do nothing. Authentication: it randomly signs you out..but it doesn't tell you that it's done that and instead sends you errors saying you can't access the cloud. This is SO frustrating.
Annoying to connect to the camera, and frustrating bouncing between wifi and mobile to update camera firmware. UX for finding/exporting clips is also painfully clunky unless you know exactly when you are looking for. Not a huge fan of Ring, but at least their camera software is more user friendly
Where are my videos? I can try to download them, the progress bar goes for a few minutes, then it says download complete, but no downloaded videos anywhere to be found! What's the point of a camera system if there is no access to the footage. Older versions worked fine.
**Update 11/5/22, app updated an now working again 🤞🤞 ** Worked fine until last few days. I have a huawei hotspot for my car using a smarty sim and my dr650s-2ch is connected to a blackvue-124x battery, all was working now wont connect to hot spot, keeps coming up "blackvue closed because this app has a bug, please try updating app after developer provides a fix for this error" please fix, thank you 🙏🙏
Spent nearly a grand on blackvue 900x plus and accessories for cloud storage etc, can't detect camera despite hours of tweaking WiFi settings. Can't detect paid for SIM card either as keeps disconnecting, phoned customer support who suggested microSD in desktop to use desktop app to update which has not done anything either. No options left, my 5G phone can synch with anything but not this dashcam, the software is terrible and I will be getting a different dashcam and full refund soon
It took me a while to figure out the app's settings, but I finally got it. 4.5 stars because no app is perfect! Once in a while, it acts buggy. ⚠️UPDATE APRIL 6, the rear camera, is not uploading! I can only get front camera uploads. Helllp?!?! Once they fix some of their bugs, I will add that last extra half point! Google: VAERS 🚫😷🚫💉
Updates just keep getting worse requiring more and more permissions and adding my trackers to sell to Twitter Google and Facebook. Focus on the damn app... Still cannot connect to camera. Now I have to find a new camera brand for my car what a waste buying these dr900s Stopped working since update. Unable to connect to wifi even though phone is already connected to the camera. 6/19/20 app still says cannot connect to wifi even though phone is connected to camera.
It keeps trying to update which is unskippable. I wish there was an update because everytime I try to look at my downloaded videos it crashes. Blackvue products are way too expensive to have such poor software.
It works to download videos, but a pain point is that it tries to check for an app update, which easily takes 30 seconds without an internet connection, like in my underground garage. This should get fixed. Additionally, it's an awkward interface to find how to download photos to the user's storage, rather than to the app's private files.
This app is so painful to use and incredibly limiting. It's not simple and streamline. Needs a complete remake. Menus that bug out and so little options. Can't even change the time on the recorded footage! The cloud feature doesn't work. This is so frustrating and I even work in the I.T industry. If I'm struggling imagine how others are going.
Connected the first day as well as the second... but now I get the dreaded "Failed to retrieve the camera list" message with NO connection at all now! Love the cameras, but the poor service is just one of the reasons I won't purchase the inconsistent service for 11.99. Update: I just realized I was logged out. Once I figure out what happened and see if I can remain connected I'll return to update again.
Terrible app setup and initial connection works fine, however once I leave the car and return, the only way to get this to work again is to delete the old wifi and Bluetooth connections from the phone, delete the camera in the app and run through the setup again.. absolutely the worse app I've ever seen... Android 9 phone perfect and working with many Bluetooth devices and wifi networks.. This app is a dog with flees...
Has difficulty connect to camera. Forgets password at random times so i have to reset it to it's same password on occasion. For such an expensive camera system, it's interface is horrible.
App keeps crashing and does not do what is required on the most part, when asked to perform tasks. It takes me 3+ hrs to get the remote view function to work with sim lte back up on the dr900x plus version. That's with many gigabytes of data allowance on broadband plan, and extra paid for subscription. Very sub standard. Can do much much better.
I have recently purchased the 590x and rear.dash cam. Managed to get connect with my android phone and the app. You need to ensure wifi light is on in the dashcam sometimes requiring to press button beside where connection are plugged in on camera unit. It may alao help to turn off mobile data on phone. If do these things obtain wifi connection to camera and can see videos. Dash cam seems to repeatedly record parking videos ie way too sensitive.
Downloaded a few videos onto my OPPO phone. When I go back to the menu to view downloaded videos, app shuts off and I can't access my videos at all, even on my phone it doesn't show in the gallery.
All I ever get from the app is "Won't connect to wifi!". No matter how good the hardware may be, it's useless unless I can connect to it! I won't be buying Blackvue ever again!
Cannot connect to cameras anymore, after update to 3.25. I have one 590w-1ch on one car and one 590w-2ch on other car. Luckyly, I found apk 3.20 on apkmonk and now I can connect again to both cameras. L. E. Checked 3.33 and it works, I can connect to my cameras. So somewhere between 3.26 and 3.33 it has been fixed.
This app is completely useless. Do not buy a blackvue camera unless you want to not be able to use it, as the app just does not work any longer. I've had a blackvue dashcam for about 4 years now and never had any problems until recently, in fact I thought they were great and used to rave about them - now I can't even connect. The ridiculous "checking for a new version of the app" every time you need to connect, "failed to connect wifi", "no videos" if it does connect, or it just crashes! WOEFUL
