Your Device has several Apps that have permission to use the Microphone, and to make Audio Recordings. Some of them also have permission to connect to the Internet. These Apps can make Sound Recordings from what is going on around your Device, and send them to an unknown receiver. Without your knowledge or consent!
Some Spy Apps may even secretly set up automatic hidden and silent Phone Calls to or from your Phone, to listen to you. And you may know nothing about it.
This App

- will protect you from being spied on in this way, by enabling you to BLOCK THE MICROPHONE on your device at any time you choose. Before you want to make a Recording yourself, simply touch a button to UNBLOCK the Microphone.
The Microphone is automatically UnBlocked before you start a normal Outgoing or Incoming Phone Call, and Blocked again after the Call is finished. (Due to technical issues on most Android Phones, it is not possible to mute the Microphone during Phone Calls.)
If you are afraid that someone should be making automatic secret and silent Phone Calls to/from your Phone (which is technically possible), you can enable an Option that will give you a warning each time a Phone Call is initiated. When you hear/see that warning
- and it is not you that are making the Call, you know that someone is spying on you!
Nothing could be simpler.A Status Notification always shows if the Microphone is Blocked or not.
An optional feature makes it possible to check that the Microphone is Blocked at regular Intervals (from once a minute to once per day). If it is detected that someone has UN-Blocked the Microphone, it will immediately be Blocked again.You may verify that it is working, by enabling a Text Notification each time the Microphone is checked.
If you select a short Checking Period, Battery consumption may increase slightly.

Q: When I have blocked the Mic using this app, I can still run an audio recording app. Shouldn't this app Block audio spying apps?
A: No. This app will NOT stop Audio Recording Apps
- or any other Spy Apps
- from running. This App will BLOCK the MIC (by Muting it), however, so that those apps cannot record any sound. All which will be recorded and heard
- is SILENCE. So that they can NOT LISTEN in on you.
Q: When I have blocked the Mic using this app and make a video recording, there is no sound.
A: That is right. Before you start a Video Recording, you should UnBlock the Mic.
Q: The mic is not blocked during phone calls. Why?
A: Due to technical issues on most Android devices, that is impossible to do.The main purpose of this app is to block the Mic so that no one can make recordings of your surroundings (and send the recorded file to some unknown receiver.)

It used to work flawlessly, but for some months now it's not blocking 100% of the time. For example: when initiating a WhatsApp call people can hear me for 10, 20, 30 seconds sometimes, which tells me that someone could bypass it (or is actually doing this). This defeats the purpose of the app as nothing is worse than a false sense of security.
I downloaded this app.... I opened it and it said Microphone unblocked so I clicked to block it. I then said "Hey Google" and Google search popped up waiting for another response from me. Yea... this app does NOT work as advertised despite a bogus pop-up from this app stating periodic mic check and it further stating that the mic is still blocked. Um.... it wasn't even blocked the first time! I said Hey Google again/ it popped right back up. Restarted my phone twice/ happened again. UNINSTALLED
This WAS a good app for a year till about 2 weeks ago. Then it started to use the phone's audip alert for NO good reason and block phone audio on phone calls after unblocking it, had to uninstall it to make a phone call !
I was using the app Microphone Blocker until it stopped working when I updated to Android 11. Your app is very easy to use and automatically unblocks the mic when I answer calls & blocks it after I end the call. A widget for quick access would be a nice feature.
Very straightforward app. Took a little thought to decide my preferences for the notification settings. Only down side so far is when I record video and forget to manually turn the mic back on then I get no sound (but that's the point right). It would be nice if it gave a notification when the user opens an app that might have a legit need for the mic just to remind them if it is off. Just to help forgetful folks like me. Otherwise I love it. Keep up the good work.
Should be able to get mic to turn on when you turn on your video recorded, or whitelist and block other permissions from using, but I guess they'd do that if possible, works great for years now and rest of apps from these guys are good, informative
I would have given 5 stars if I didn't get a pop up every 10 seconds telling me the mic is blocked- periodic check. It's aggravating to have it so often, blocking my view of screen. Lower the notification time and it's a good app
This app does what it says, what more can you ask for? It also gives you a heads up when another app wants to access the microphone. Great job developers.
try the voice recorder right after installing and it said it was blocking the microphone and the recorder worked. play back heard my own voice testing. I am using a Galaxy S5.
I was hoping to mute my earbud mic but this doesn't block google assistant with it bc when I want to watch anime or something on my phone google assistant keeps popping up. Could you allow the app to block google assistant as an option in the settings

Quite good for privacy, doesn't get in the way of calls and it still works on android 10.
Simpel. Fine. And micro automatic on whith tel.call. Perfect. I don't understand the battery-use when not on. But it is not much.
keeps crashing on new update. doesnt want to run continuously so apps keep listening and target ads accordingly
Doesn't work at all. Said it was blocking the mic. Mic still worked as if the app weren't there at all. All show.
This thing... I test it by saying, hey Google. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. Have to keep opening it up to engage it.
I love that it protects my privacy, but why does it slow my entire phone down and make my battery die so quickly? Is it listening and sending info instead of all the other apps?
I like this app, Block Mic. I have been using it for several months and rely on it. I shut off the microphone and it notifies me each time the check is done with a nice, short-lived pop-up. There is a repeat offender trying to get in, as usual, but they have not been able to do anything. Not since installation of the app.
