I was tolerating the ads that came after every second set of pieces and anytime I started a new game. Annoying, but I enjoyed the game enough to stick with it. After the second time my Amazon settings were switched to Spanish (which happened during one of the numerous Amazon ads) I threw in the towel. So unbelievably irritating. I only leave 2 stars because I do enjoy the challenge of this game.
Love the game; hate the ads. It has gone from one ad each level to two ads every level. And as someone else reported in their review, the X to exit the ad shows up in the far upper corner and doesn't respond easily to touch. When you try to click it, you are more likely to get the ad opened on your screen than get it to exit. Usually takes several tries to get it to return to the game. Very frustrating and I'm getting to the uninstalled point.
The game is fine, I like it. But ohemgee the ads are off the rails in frequency. I would rather buy the game then deal with an ad after every single attempt. Sometimes there are two, one as soon as you finish an attempt then when you press to play again another ad. *Edit didn't know about the pay for the game option in settings, thank you! Have purchased the game, will play a few rounds and if i see no ads i will update my star rating. Updated to 5 stars, worth the purchase to not get ads! Thanx
Great game, very fun and challenging, but plays a 10-30 second video ad after almost every single game. Sometimes it gives you a one page ad that can be cancelled after 5 seconds. Point being that overkill on the ads is ruining what could be a great game. I know I could just purchase it and be done with the ads, but it's honestly not worth buying yet. Update : Don't know when, but the ads got worse! Now it's before AND after every game! Way to make "improvements".
Great game but the in-level ads are a little excessive. I seem to hit an ad right before I complete the level and then have to watch another ad. A buck or two lower for ad-free and I would buy it. Also, please, for the love of all that is holy, we need an undo move button. Too many times do I run into a situation where I accidentally drop a block and it screws up my entire level.
Nothing random about the pieces that appear. The game is designed to lose. I've played it over 100 times, and can predict which pieces will arrive, and they're exactly the ones that make the game unwinnable at that moment. Random would mean that the shape you need would arrive 'sometimes', but you can bank on the fact that it won't. Game is fun, but rigged. Deleting.
I love this game, but the ads are increasingly annoying. I know to expect ads in a free game, but these are the worst. You have to sometimes watch 2 ads before you get back to the game. And sometimes they try to force 30 seconds or more in an ad. Most of the time you can opt out after 5 seconds, but not always. I don't even watch the ads, and sometimes I just leave the game. It is sad, because I really enjoy this game, but don't want to pay, so I guess I'm paying with ads
First off whenever it feels an ad is necessary it forces you into an unfair position in which it's impossible to advance. I've timed the matches and they all end about the same, if you want to get a highscore, your best bet is to go fast before they want an ad. Another thing is the pieces you get become less random the farther you advance and more repetitive and difficult. I understand it's not suppose to be easy, but sometimes it's not about skill but how lucky you are.
Game is fun but not worth the bombardment of ads you have to endure. Open the app, ad, start new game, ad, end game, ad, in the middle of playing, ad, accidentally turned your screen off, ad, switched apps and came back, ad.Sometimes there are multiple ads in a row and the button to skip or exit is so tiny, or just rigged, that you end up with other stuff popping up just trying to close it. I get that a free game has ads, but I don't have the time to waste constantly trying to close ads!
I've had this game for years and really love the concept. Easy to play and fill some free time waiting for a train, bus or whatever. However, I have seen the shift over the last few years of introducing more and more intrusive ads. I had gotten used to an ad when I lose, even sometimes when I click play but the worst has happened in the last day or so. Ads are now playing MID GAME. I understand needing to support this free game, but this is ridiculous now.
Advert for the game is always a shaped puzzle with angles etc. Then the game itself is just sudoku with blocks. Then the game itself is virtually unplayable because it interrupts play with ads. Then ads when u complete puzzle and more ads. I wouldnt bother with app.
I've been doing the daily challenge every morning for over a year and I love it, but in the last week the daily challenge is showing as complete before I've done anything. I can't see the point in a daily challenge if it constantly shows complete and I cant do it
I like the game. There's a large learning curve, and I'm still not quite sure I'm playing it right. Things I'd like to see change, maybe, 1. Fewer ads, there's a lot, 2. Something that says how many surprise blocks are left, The game just comes to an end when the blocks are no longer showing up, 3. The ability to rotate the pieces.
I don't normally get hooked on mobile games, but I keep coming back to this one. It's so simple and yet so satisfying. It is REALLY worth it to just pay the small fee to get rid of ads, trust me. This is one of the only games that doesn't have annoying stuff like 'winning' mystery boxes, coins & useless 'bonuses.' Thank you to the developers for making a decent game! 🙏 Only reason I gave 4x is because it was advertised there would be more shapes to fill (e.g a cat one) but that's not in there.
I really like to play this game, but since the ads changed, it got really annoying. Ok I play for free and ads are fair enough, but they keep pausing my music, getting stuck on screen without a way to close, forcing me to close the app and opening again. So instead to play to have some fun, I get pissed because the app just interrupt everything
Easily one of the best games I've sumbled upon. I've had it for 2 years now and I never stick to a game for long, this one just never got boring. The adds are not as invasive as they can be in free games (they still pop up and you have to wait some time to close them, but if you play offline, they dont appear). It saved me when I had to kill time or when I just wanted to shut down my brain and be on my phone. There are daily fresh puzzles that you'll always come back for. I absolutely love i!
Played this game for over 2 years. The game itself is pretty decent and good to pass time. My main issue is the amount of mobile data the ads have started consuming, the past 2 weeks this app has used up 6Gb of mobile data which is very taxing for someone on a limited contract. Edit: contacted support as suggested and got a template response. Even worse, I'm now getting ads in-between scoring points.
Deceiving advertising, the ad of the app was to merge blocks into a given form, what engaged me was the idea of triangles, but it's only tetris in a 9x9 square. Also as many other people have said, the ads are obnoxious, in the middle of your game they put ads several times, they don't even respect the in game time. Final advice: don't download it.
The game itself is pretty good with one HUGE MAJOR problem: way, way, way too many ads. No player should have to sit thru FOUR ads to play a 1 minute game. In other words, when your ads are longer (and very intrusive) then the game itself, then you have a problem. Yes I know the game is free & somebody has to "pay" but it's gotten to the point where I can find another game jus as entertaining with less ads.
The game is fun. The ads make me want to remove the game. I'm accept that ads are a part of the experience, but it used to be 1 ad after a loss and the occasional ad after a win. Now it's 2 ads after every win or loss. I'm probably going to remove this game soon because it's become so tedious between games. Not all the ads are 5 seconds either, some do make you sit through 30 second videos. Again, I could sit through 1 it's part of the deal, but 2 after every game, no good.
Fun and clever, but ad-heavy. I'm used to free games having some ads, but with Blockudoku, it feels like you can't do anything without an unskippable ad popping up. In many cases, I'll get an ad as soon as a game ends, only to get another ad a second later when I try to start a new game. And they're clearly aware of the issue based on their responses to the many complaints in the reviews, but they haven't fixed it! All we want is fewer ads. We know you can't get rid of them entirely.
I have never written a review before but I am making an exception now - like the game but HATE the ads!!!!! It's getting ridiculous!! There are twice as many ads, and most of them never give you the 'x' box option to close the ad! The only way I've found is to actually click on the ad, opening it's web page and then close it immediately so that I can get back to the game! I get that you need to have ads but this is going to make me uninstall and find something else.
Fantastic game...one of the best. But just over the last month or so the ads are way too frequent and they are impossible to 'x' out of until the ads play through...like 30 seconds after. So you are stuck waiting for this irritation to end. It was tolerable before, but the sds have kept me away for several weeks now.
Ads are awful EDIT: I was very happy with how the app performed before the most recent update... even the Ads. As they were unobtrusive, didn't really disrupt gameplay. Since the current update however the game graphically looks very different and not in a way i enjoy. The Ads though are actually awful now. Ads are near constant , i got caught in an actual constant loop of ads 4 separate times whilst trying to access the daily challenges game. press x loads back up rinse and repeat.
The game is nice, though sometimes its hard to see where your piece is going. And while I get having ads and forcing players to leave the wifi on while playing Daily Challenges, at least least me win/lose before forcing me YET ANOTHER AD.
Just started to play and so far I like the game. However, I noticed on one game when I had no where I could go, the game just sits there and doesn't say NO MORE MOVES so I just have to cancel game and start a new one so that seems odd instead of game ending automatically. Still learning how to play the game.
It's a good way to pass time but there are ads between every game and in the middle of a game. This causes players to become irritated and either they play for short periods of time or they delete the game in favor of something well less ads. As a reward for daily players I think the number of ads should decrease.
