Blue Car Tethering on Demand
Forget enabling bluetooth tethering on your mobile phone anymore, with this application you just have to specify which devices will be allowed to use it and automatically every time they get connected to your mobile phone, bluetooth tethering is enabled and disabled when disconnected.
I developed this application initially thinking about my car, whenever I needed to use the internet connection, tethering was disabled in the phone and could not activate it while driving.
This app can be used for activating bluetooth tethering with any other devices, not just cars, including tablets and other mobile phones, just use it if you need to activate bluetooth tethering everytime you want to use it.

Works perfectly with Samsung Note 8 and S7 connecting to Toyota Avensis Touch 2 with Go Radio / Nav. Allows the navigation to have up to the minute traffic information and I never have to remember to connect. Android complains about high background battery usage but this really doesn't seem to be an issue. Great App.
Before I installed this my phone would occasionally decide to turn off internet access via Bluetooth. It's not the sort of thing you want to be messing with as you're driving along. Since I installed this I have had no problems with this happening. Thank you.
After I installed this I couldn't connect to any new Bluetooth device. Wrong pin or passkey. Deinstallation didn't help. Can only make new connections when I restart in Safe mode. Still can't fix this.
UPDATE: I am very sorry to report (as others have done) that the app does not work on Android 11. Absolutely fabulous! The little app works like a dream with my Pixel 2 and Prius Prime. Definitely thumbs up for this one!
Excellent little app, does what it says on the tin and finally enables my Toyota Prius to play nicely with my Samsung S9. Had been scratching about with Tasker and getting nowhere - this little app did the trick in seconds
UPDATE- NO LONGER WORKS, DOES NOT WORK ON ANDROID 11. Fantastic app, does the job perfectly, my phone always turns on Bluetooth tethering for internet when I connect to my volvo car now
I can confirm, it does not work on Android 11 anymore. That's a pity, because this app was so important in my ecosystem. I am hoping for an update of this app. But I feel like this is not going to happen... :-(
This app was awesome until my phone updated to android 11. Now there is a CVE preventing the app to mess with Bluetooth. Do you have any plans to update the app in the near future? If not, would you share the app source?
Did not automatically work when connecting bluetooth to 2017 Auris. Required additional manual wifi hotspot activation.
Perfect for me using it with s Samsung galaxy note 4 and vw phaeton works perfectly for me I have internet in my car.
Works just as expected. Note that you should allow app to run in background.

Great app ... TomTom 610 to LG G5. My TomTom live traffic feature depends on tethering. The number of times I'd get in the car and set off and then have to stop again as TomTom would not be getting traffic downloads despite being Bluetooth connected were very high. This fixed that problem. Should be a standard feature of android. Oddly it is on Microsoft phones. Very useful. Well done. Thank you.
Checked quite a few apps, some worked but a bit flakey. This one works every time (Volvo and Huawei P9). Note that the 'Tether' isn't instant and can take 15-20 seconds to toggle but that's fine. Nice job!
Works perfectly for over a year. Forgot I used it until looking to tidy up some apps. Will not be getting rid of this. Perfect.

Finally able to automatically tether my Samsung S9 to my Toyota RAV4 sat nav for live traffic etc. I had already paired the phone using Bluetooth, but had to go into settings at the start of each journey. Now with this app it just establishes the tether automatically. Even Samsung support couldn't help!
I thought it was too good to be true, so I turned off tethering and then tried to connect to network by Bluetooth on my MacBook... It worked, exactly as advertised... Very happy.
My phone randomly turns Bluetooth tethering off since upgrading to Oreo. This app makes sure it is on when my TomTom tries to connect. Great! If only it could have a mode that will turn it on if it gets turned off while it's being used.

Means I don't have to go into BT settings each time is use data with Mercedes Comand. Enables BT tethering as soon as BT toggled on.
An app that does what it says it will do without hassle (or ads), shame it don't work since my note 10 updated to android 11, Hope the dev will fix this
It does work for me but only after launching the app every time after enabling Bluetooth. So no advantage over another widget that does the same.
Does exactly what the description states, with a simple and straightforward interface. Works well with no complex configuration or 3rd party plugins required. Now I can tether data between Samsung Note8 and car GPS with ease, whereas previously any change such as using flight mode or disabling bluetooth required re-enabling of bluetooth tethering. Unfortunately it does not appear to work for the Samsung Note10 running Android version 9 or 10.
