For years after an update cameras load very slowly remotely yet blazing fast on LAN or web. Annoying ongoing repeat notifications for camera alerts. You get the first notification then constant random repeat notifications for that old alert. It should only be one unless repeated trigger but it does not work that way. The notification hell is probably the most irritating thing about this app otherwise it's fairly sound.
Love the server software. But lt feels like no quality assurance is ever done. Server side is solid if and only if you stay behind and ignore latest updates till next stable update. Mobile app is perfect illustration of what happens when otherwise solid company outsource. You get that "not made is USA" sensation. For serious business application use UI3. For something less serious slow and clunky mobile app might be acceptable.
Clicking on push alerts to come through used to take you to the exact alert that no longer happens. While playing back motion alerts they sometime repeat themselves. Audio for the cameras drops out from time to time during live view and when viewing clips. Update February 7th 2022, latest update has absolutely trashed the app it's unusable now. Update: 5/1/22. APp is still a bug filled train wreck. The developers apparently don't read these reviews or don't care about fixing this mess of an app.
This is a rollercoaster of an app. V2 was ok. V3 made some improvements (it fixed a problem where flipping between apps meant have to shut down this app otherwise streaming would fail). I could live with the terrible UI if the application just did what it was supposed to but every release seems to bring problems. UPDATE: March 2022 and it now freezes for a while on launch then refuses to let me see events at all as it simply locks up when tapping the event list icon.
The app does function, but overall I wouldn't say it's a very good app. Not optimized well for the phone. Lacks features, has extra clicks to login when you start it every time. Definitely could use a lot of improvement.
If you can't get it to login, try this. Check the IP address is correct, because the QR. code may have an incorrect embedded IP address. Also, make sure to put :81 on the end for the port. Its port 81 and http by default. Finally, make sure to configure a new user for the remote access on your server and click ok to commit the config. Finally, check to make sure that your windows firewall is configured to allow the traffic. Dev - please update your help file.
Don't waste your money on this app. Just use the UI3, it's more feature rich and actually loads relatively fast compared to this app where is can take anywhere from 15 seconds to over 5 minutes to actually display the live feeds. Don't bother trying to load the clips, if you can actually view them buy a lottery ticket because you have incredible luck!
I like it. The notifications work well, and that was the most important to me. After the last update the playbacks have also drastically improved.
Latest update STILL doesn't fix the months old problem of black video with audio. Used to be a great app, now its pretty useless.
OLD VERSION BETTER... multiple issues and I was lucky to have a backup of the older version. Works better. Opened a support ticket over a year ago. Not fixed. Expect more for 10 bucks.
Would be nice to have 8X play back speed, the whole app is very confusing to me.
Works just fine, does what I want from viewing my cameras, and having some remote control over them, and most importantly helps me gety push notifications! One negative is the app might be a bit expensive, especially after I already paid for the desktop app, and also the UI/UX does look slightly outdated.
I love Blue Iris and when this app is working, it is exceptional. The problem is that is rarely works. I know its not by back-end video server. I can patch into it using the web interface with ease and without fail every time. I know its not my phone. I have the latest Samsung every year. With this app, it works intermittently. Sometimes I receive snapshots of alerts, most of the time I don't. Connecting from notifications is useless. It almost never works. I have to disconnect, reconnect to get it to work again. I would be helping friends and family get onto the Blue Iris System if the mobile app worked better. I have been using it for almost 2 years and it just seems to be getting worse not better.
Great bit of desktop software, however the android app is slightly clunky. Trying to scroll to a point in a recorded video is like trying to thread a needle at 90mph, and then when you get there it randomly decides to throw you back to the start of that "clip" - infuriating doesn't describe it. Having said that, the main thing I use the android app for is checking in on the dog while I'm out, and it does that just fine.
UI is functional but feels very dated. I'm frustrated by the inability to change the layout of cameras on-screen- If I pull up a group of two cameras I don't want to see them side by side on a vertical phone screen. The connection to the server is usually pretty snappy, at least. Overall, the excellent BI server-side software deserves a much better mobile app, especially for the price.
After using an iPhone for many years, I switched to an android galaxy phone. I've used this app on the iPhone and I must say that it is far superior to the Android version. The loading is much slower on the Android and half the time I cannot even get the images I want. I really wish they would try to replicate the iPhone version as its so much easier to use and far more effective
I love BlueIris, and want to support them. I am happy they've been updating the main app, but the mobile app needs work. It generally always works as intended, but needs to modernize its UI and add better transport controls while reviewing footage. I record 24/7 but if no alert happened in the time frame I am interested in, there is no button to fast forward to the next recorded clip (only the next alert). I have to back out of the menus and find the calendar view to select a different clip.
Desperately needs a redesign. Not as advanced as the PC client although it doesn't need to be. The UI is incredibly outdated. The times in the alerts overview should be exact not "x hours ago". Alerts are difficult to navigate through. Clips can't be viewed entirely, only alarms. Navigation through different cams is sluggish at best. Push notifications don't work. For the price it should be pretty much perfect.
I like the app. just wish it had some ability to login as admin and make system changes. But that would probably become a security issue, so I understand why they don't do that. [EDIT] Can no longer transmit audio to my cameras to talk to guests. I haven't changed any settings. Guess I'll have to spend a few valuable hours figuring it out...
Bad "update". The latest "update" is a bad downgrade. Horrible UI. Made playback window smaller. Very slow compared to what it was. Go back to a good working app and stop trying to break it. You succeeded! It won't connect 5 out of 6 times. When it finally connects the UI is atrocious. I have NEVER had problems like this with Blue Iris. This almost unusable. And yes, I am running updated, and paid for, V5 on my server.
As everybody else, the latest update broke the app! Not only that, I ended up purchasing a properly signed SSL certificate, because it was being mentioned that the problem was with self-signed certificates. It still doesn't work, despite the fact that I am able to see the certificate in the browser. EDIT: I finally managed to make it work. The fix was to include an intermediate certificate in the .pem file. Sometimes this info is included in a "pem chain" file.
It works... just about...with a bit of judder here, artifacts and frame drop there. A bit clunky and unreliable. Needs constant swipe aways and reopens to get it working again. Not to mention, it looks like it was designed by a BTEC dropout who still thinks bell bottom jeans are fashionable. It's desperately in need of a revamp in form and function. But, on the whole, it works, kind of...
I paid $10 for this horrible piece of software and now it fails to even work?! The interface change in the last few months were "pretty-ed" up but the ui is absolutely trash, almost no thought went into it and absolutely broke so many functionalities. Now it continuously displays a server error. Thanks for these horrendous updates, would have been better off without them.
Notification sound is broken with the recent update. It constantly defaults to an in app sound regardless of what you set it too. 1st time I've experienced this with an app an it extremely annoying especially since my dog has been trained to react to a certain blue iris notification sound. Edit: sound fixed on the latest update. Back to 5 stars. 5/17/22 - it's bad again for all the same reasons people have already noted.
